Reflection on K - 12 Curriculum

K to 12 Basic Education Program in the Philippines aims to have a graduate that is an empowered individual who has learned, through a program that is rooted on sound educational principles and geared towards excellence, the foundations for learning throughout life, the competence to engage in work and be productive, the ability to coexist in fruitful harmony with local and global communities, the capability to engage in autonomous critical thinking, and the capacity to transform others and one’s self. The K to 12 Basic Education Program is not new for this was already made a few years ago although it is at present that we are trying to implement for the improvement of our educational system in our country. The K to 12 was not only made by the DepEd Central office but through the collaboration of the CHED, TESDA, DEPED and the different stakeholders like the parents of the children in schools. The complete human development of every graduate is at the core of the Enhanced K to 12 Basic Education Program. Every graduate holds an understanding of the world around and a zest for life-long learning, which addresses every child’s basic learning needs, including learning to learn, the acquisition of numeracy, literacies, and scientific and technological knowledge as applied to daily life. I realized that we teachers must have the 5C’s to make this said program successful. The Commitment, Competence, Creativity, Compassion and Character helps the K to 12 program pursue its objective through the transformed people who are involved in the implementation of the program. Now that I know the significance of the K to 12 Program of the DepEd, I will wholeheartedly help and cooperate in the implementation process for the good of our country and its people. I will help disseminate and explains to the parents the significance of this changes in
