26, February 2015 An Adolescent's Action Being youthful can be oh so ever changing. They do this and that recklessly without any impulse on hesitating or thinking of the consequences that lay ahead. Many adults and seniors have always wanted to understand why adolescents has acted as such. Because grownups have grown up, so has their brain and their actions are also matured. They are still experiencing changes with their physical appearance as well as mentally. They have a valid point on why teen brains are not matured yet. Additionally, The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is right about how teen brains aren't matured yet because recent studies have shown to prove and has such stated, "Studies have shown that brains continue to mature and develop throughout childhood and adolescence and well into early childhood."Scientists have identified a specific region of the brain called the amygdala which is responsible for instinctual reactions including fear and aggressive behavior". Because of this, teenagers act without reason and tend to cause more destruction and dangerous behavior more than adults. Adults have a frontal cortex, which helps us control and take reason before doing action. For teenagers, the frontal cortex is not yet developed, so the brain relies on the amygdala which results in risky behavior. Tran 2 Therefore, they should be of interest on the teenagers who act on such reckless behaviors and impulsive actions because it will explain how the teen mind works and functions.
