...Individual Assignment 1 Meagan Groff 0771029 MCS 3600: CIP Feb. 25, 2015 Introduction This experimental study is being done to better understand the effectiveness of anti-drinking and driving advertisements on university-aged students. “Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among 16 to 25 year olds, and alcohol and/or drugs are a factor in 55% of those crashes” (Madd, 2013). Increasing the effectiveness of anti-drinking and driving advertisements could be a solution to this critically high mortality rate in young people. The main purpose of this study is to better understand the effect of positive and negative anti-drinking and driving advertisements within different settings and different amounts of times. Literature Review Studies have shown that university aged students are affected by anti-drunk driving campaigns (Cirmaru, Lavack & Markewich, 2007). Some studies have even shown the effectiveness of ads with varying motives (Wickramarachchi, 2013). In this area research falls short on certain factors such as location of these ads and the distance between seeing the ads and duration of the ads’ effect. Study One The first study to take place within this experiment is a 2 by 2 design. The first factor will be message valence being positive vs. negative while the second factor is message setting being an academic setting vs. a relaxed setting. This experiment is designed to test whether university-aged students respond better to positive...

Food Fantasy

...Introduction: Fast food is any food that is quick, convenient, and inexpensive. You can buy fast food anywhere that sells food and snacks. Vending machines, drive-thru restaurants, and 24-hour convenience stores are probably the most common places to find fast food. It is popular, because for under $5.00 you can usually get a filling meal. However, fast food is inexpensive because it is usually made with cheaper ingredients such as high fat meat, refined grains, and added sugar and fats, instead of nutritious foods such as lean meats, fresh fruits, and vegetables. Purpose: Sodium is an element that the body needs to function properly. In the meals I created at McDonalds, which includes for the unhealthy part, a Big Mac sandwich, Fries and a Coca Cola for a drink. The healthy part, which includes were a Premium Caesar Salad with Grilled Chicken and a Coca Cola for a drink. To compare the sodium intake on these two meals the unhealthy side obviously has the most sodium intake of 1,320mg. The healthy side contained 1,090mg. This is a big difference in the sodium intake from healthy and unhealthy meals, but this sodium intake is still unhealthy for one meal a day. If someone were to go to McDonalds and try to find a meal that has low sodium intake it would be easy for them to find, but they would have to look through the food options that are available in the restaurant first. When you eat out you usually won’t be able to determine the calories that you intake in a meal...

Developing Good Business Sense

...Developing Good Business Sense Jenny Richardson BUS/210 March 16, 2014 Karen M. Wilson Developing Good Business Sense In this week’s assignment, I looked at three different businesses but three of the same field. McDonalds, Sonic Drive-in, and Kentucky Fried Chicken were the three restaurants I chose to investigate for this assignment. These restaurants run on the same basis of fast and friendly service. All three are highly successful franchise businesses and very well recognized in the fast food industry. McDonald’s primary products are hamburgers and french fries, but over the years they have branched out to many different types of sandwiches to keep customers interested and coming back for more. They offer an array of breakfast items as well. Sonic Drive-in restaurant takes us back to the carhop days of the past and brings a bit of a nostalgic feel to dining in your car. They have a large menu based on items once served at the drive-in restaurants and encourage their customers to customize their orders. They advertise over 350,000 drink combinations available. Kentucky Fried Chicken was established years ago by a man known as Colonel Sanders who had a way with making fried chicken and was famous for it to say the least. Over the years the company has added many different items to the menu but has never changed the “original recipe” which made the company famous and what it is today. All three of these restaurants run...

Get Paid to Drive Your Car.

...College Assignment On An article relevant to the course Course Title: Marketing. Article Selected: Get Paid to Drive your Car. Date: July 24, 2009 It sounds too good to be true. But believe or not there are companies out there that are willing to pay for you to drive with a type of advertising on it. It seems to be a new way of advertising a product in a car for a small company or a large. If you think about it while you driving you car through the busiest street of Miami and you see a car painted with eye popping graphics of a company or a product, it will grab your attention, and that it is exactly what companies are trying to do, To target people in their cars or people doing some type of outdoors activities, the key here it is to grab your attention. I’m sure most of you have seen the Red Bull Car or Monster energy Truck; they were one of the first ones to come out with that Idea, but both are using different ideas, red bull putting a giant Red Bull can on top and Monster using Big monsters truck to promote their energy drink. It is easy to see them in any type of organization or charity or competition. Why? Because in order to promote a product, you need to show it to the public, and what a better way than to do it in a car, where hundreds of people will see it. Now, back to the article, there are two ways in which companies will pay you to show off their products in a car. One is by placing advertising in your own car using some type of vinyl adhesive...

Fast Food

...Case: Fast Food Feast The two fast food chains chosen for this assignment are McDonalds and Subway. The two fast food chains have been around for many years. McDonald’s is the older of the two and is the number one, thriving fast food chain in the world (McDonalds, 2013). It’s even a popular fast food chain globally and is known for them golden arches. Subway has been around for some time but it can be a healthier alternative to its counterpart. This store really became famous after a guy named Jared lost 245 pounds of weight due to lower fat contents diet that subs may contain (Subway, 2013). McDonald’s fast food chain takes in store orders and drive through orders. In some store they provide a 24 hour drive through window for customers, but it has a limited menu. During peak times the food is prepared ahead of time and under a heat lamp to keep food warm. They make the food slower at off peak hours, but the majority of the food is still pre-cooked. The customer orders their food, pay for the food, and then take a number for food receipt. This may take a few minutes during the rush. If you require a special order, that may delay your food by a few extra minutes because they have to make it to order. McDonald main side is the famous French fries, but now they are trying to be socially responsible so they offer salads on the menu. The happy meals, which are for children, now can provide milk and fresh apples that are packaged. They now serve lower calorie options on the menu...

While the challenges arising from consumer trends continue to change the methodology used to meet demands, pressures to keep costs low and drive margin have been increasing as well to ensure shareholders are satisfied. Coca-Cola has met this challenge by implementing strategies to better delineate the market and ensure they are targeting the correct consumers while remaining differentiated in order to reach a broad range of market segments. Forde, C., Sthanunathan, S., Patten, D., & Wicken, G. (2009) discusses a formula they have termed SPAN or Segmentation of People, Attitude and Needs. Supply and Demand

...Demand and Supply model Looking into the demand and supply model we can try to get a grasp of how we perceive the S&P 500. You can stare at the stock market all day trying to figure out which is better and why it is that this particular company outsells the other but you can fit all of these companies into a neat little box. In this assignment we will talk about market power, competitive market, and strategy as well as how prices and incentives affect the company. I have selected several companies for my paper just due to how they connect and others for history of association with them in the past. I will even be willing to bet that between the Doritos and Bud light commercials during the Super bowl (GO HAWKS) that one or both of these companies will have a pretty good plug thrown in there. Just mentioning these two in the same sentence is the example of a competitive market. The next two companies I look at are Lockheed and Raytheon, primarily Department of Defense contractors but do make other things that are used outside of military applications. These two companies are huge when it comes to defense contracts but they definitely the only ones (Colt, Wyle, ect.) these two compete in different ways than just consumer preference like the previous named companies. They work on the tech savvy stay on the cutting edge frontier. They are the ones making the George Lucas Star Wars type of technology and have been doing so since the 70s. I wouldn’t say that any...
