Credit Suisse One Cabot Square London E14 4QJ Dear Sir or Madam, I am currently a third year Warwick University student on a four year Masters in Physics course, eager to secure a place on Credit Suisse’s prestigious summer internship program. An experience at the Laboratório de Instrumentação e Física Experimental de Partículas (LIP), as an intern analyst in the area of high energy cosmic rays, whilst interesting, revealed to be mechanical, repetitive and slow paced with little professional advancement. It was during a careers fair at Warwick University, that the dynamic and competitive nature of the finance industry was brought to my attention. Subsequently I attended presentations held by various firms, including Credit Suisse, each describing the wide spectrum of divisions and opportunities offered by the sector and the firms. The Investment Banking division was described to be fast paced, exciting and intellectually challenging thus appealing to me greatly. Networking with individuals such as Omri Lumbrosso and Andrew Burton, provided a window to the significant responsibilities given to intern analysts and how the skills I have collected can benefit the firm. This further fuelled my motivation to learn more about the industry, division and firm, thus leading me to take a finance module this year and become an avid reader of the Economist. My degree course has provided me with significant analytical and problem solving skills, regularly used in various modules and group laboratory experiments, which were successfully researched, planned and executed, submitting a collective scientific report at the end. I have also developed a passion for my training in ZSK Chinese Kickboxing, which in turn has taught me determination, confidence and discipline, which I believe to be critical in any working environment. Balancing academics, sports and my continuous membership in the Third Culture Society, has allowed be to develop time management skills, as well as excellent communication skills with individuals that have a multitude of different cultural and religious backgrounds. Credit Suisse stands at the forefront of the finance industry as a member of the Wall Street’s bulge bracket, obtaining numerous awards for excellence from Euromoney and “Deals of the year” awards from The Banker in 2012. Continuing to maintain client focus, execute on risk reduction, and maintaining an industry-leading strong capital position has allowed it to survive in the current economic environment and report a net income attributed to shareholders of USD 25 million for the first half of 2012. I believe Credit Suisse’s global diversity, accommodating employees and the extensive personal and professional development opportunities they offer, to be key traits that make it an attractive employer.
