...Organizational Structures and Processes Summary For The Department of Health and Human Services Organizational Structures and Processes Summary Introduction “The department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is the primary agency the United States” (USDHHS, 2011, pg. 1) government uses for supplying essential human services and for protecting the health for Americans. HHS dispenses more funding money than any of the other government agencies collectively and symbolizes roughly a quarter of national expenses. Most HHS funded services are provided at the local level by county and state agencies and works closely with local and state governments or through private sector grantees. There are 11 operating sections managed by the department programs, which include three human service agencies and the U.S. Public Health Service has eight agencies. There are more than 300 programs, obscuring a large range of activities. Impartial treatment of beneficiaries nationally is also provided by HHS and the collection of national health and other data is enabled. Organization’s Structure In the Department of HHS, the organizational structure is organized in a tree-like structure, most of the other offices of administration branching from the center, the secretary portion. The deputy secretary and the Chief of Staff are the heads of the department, and the Executive Secretariat, Office of Health Reform, Office on Disability, Office of Intergovernmental, and External...

...Derrick Wilson Homework 5 Policing in Am. For homework assignment number 5 we were assigned to watch the first hour of Murder on a Sunday morning and explain what exists in Police departments that could allow the case of Brenton Butler to occur anywhere throughout the country. After watching the first hour of the video, I wanted to finish watching the last 2 sectons of it, but sadly didn't have enough time too. What I believe that exists in police departments is sadly enough, something that has plagued our lives for years past, and years to come, Racial equalization. As we have stated and discussed in class on various occasions, race plays a huge part in our society. It was interesting in the first part of the trial that was shown on the video, how the husband acted when being questioned. He seemed to have NO idea on what happened, he just kept referring to what was stated on the deposition. It seemed to me that he just knew it was a black person who killed his wife and he had it in his mind set that Butler was the one who commited to the crime. Now referring back to the police departments in general, I think that the generality of issues we have discussed have pointed to the fact that in any crime statistics, race plays a part. Even when we discussed the departments that were found to pull over and ticket more black people it goes to show that they didn't even think or believe that the numbers they boasted were larger then they were....

...Homework #3 April 7, 2011 1) The profit maximization rule for determining the most efficient output level is considered through marginal revenue, and marginal cost. The point at which profit is being maximized is when the revenue gained from selling one additional unit is equal to the cost of producing the unit. At this point, the firm is receiving an average rate of return at the highest output level possible. For example, a shoe producer pays $25 to produce one shoe and can sell the shoe for $50. At this output level the marginal profit is $25 and the profit maximization rule would dictate an increase in output. Inversely, had it cost the show maker $60 to make one additional shoe and could only sell the shoe for $50 the profit maximization rule would dictate a decrease in output. Following profit, marginal revenue would be -$10 and the maximization rule always leads to maximum profit when marginal revenue is equal to marginal cost, the highest output level attainable without losing money to produce the product. 2) STEPS 1. Begin at initial long-run equilibrium 2. Income elasticity is -1.3 and consumers income decreases 3. Quantity demanded decreases 4. Price is bid downward and the firm is faced with a new marginal revenue 5. If the consumers’ income does not recover over time the LRAC curve will fall downward 6. In response to the market, the firm will decrease output until marginal revenue equals marginal cost 7. π=Q(P-LRAC)<0...
