In this course I have learned much about myself, as well as other people, more so than I ever thought I would, and with this knowledge comes a great responsibility. When this class first started I only expected to learn the very basics of psychology like the different approaches to psychology from behaviorism, structuralism, functionalism, humanism, psychoanalysis, and other things. Not only did I learn about the essentials of psychology, but I also learned a great deal about myself and my past life experiences. This class has forced me to look deep within myself and confront my psychological demons. Doing that has helped me become more understanding and accepting of why I am the person I am today and what I can do to change certain things. Without the help of Psychology 101 and words of wisdom from my instructor I would still have no clue as to who I am as a person, and who I want to be, as well as what my purpose in life is. I have gained more confidence in myself this semester than I've ever had in my entire life. I feel more enlightened about many aspects of life, especially when it comes to understanding other people. I feel like this class has also helped rid me of the anxiety that I faced. In this paper I will discuss how this class has changed certain aspects of my life, how I've grown to overcome certain psychological hang-ups, and how I plan to use this knowledge in my future

...we had a final exam project, where we wrote a course reflection paper about the class along with a digital presentation. In this reflective essay, I will discuss about what three big ideas this semester that impacted me the most, how my personal philosophy has changed throughout this course, and ideas/facts I learned this semester that surprised me. First, I will discuss about one of the three big ideas this semester that has impacted me the most. One big idea this semester that has impacted me the most I believe is learning about multiple intelligences. In this class, I learned in chapter 10, that american psychologist Howard Gardner came up with eight unique and independent types of intelligences that...

Personal Reflection

...critical thinking? For me, critical thinking is not just one thing. Critical thinking is finding the logical solution or answer. Clear rational thought and the ability to engage in reflective and independent thought. Not everything that you hear or see is what it seems. Sometimes there are hidden meanings, nonfactual statements that you must determine if valid or not. Questioning the statement or researching a topic may bring truthful facts to your attention. Critical thinking takes everything you know and feel and throws it away. Now you must look at everything with an open mind and soul. The idea is not something that is perfect, evaluating the idea from every possible point is necessary. Strip yourself of everything that you know and be curious about everything. What are the most significant things that you learned about critical thinking during this course? The most significant thing that I learned from this course is that critical thinking involves learning. Instead of taking things for granted you need to ask questions and investigate things that you do not know about. When someone is speaking or writing pay attention to what they are trying to say. If you do not get it then ask questions. Every idea or statement must be backed up with facts, not just someone's opinion. How has your critical thinking changed since starting this course? To be honest I never thought that I was using critical thinking in my everyday life. After this class, I learned that...

Essay for Maters in Nursing

...that has not changed. The care delivered to the patient should be with an attitude of unselfish concern for that patient. Serving as an advocate for all patients should be of high priority. All healthcare workers must maintain competence in their scope of practice. It is the responsibility of the nurse to “safeguard the patient from incompetent, unethical, or illegal practice of any person” I believe that acting for the benefit of others is right and good” (Killen, & Saewert, 2007). Patients should be incorporated into their plan of care. The plan of care should include family, income, and environment, as these areas will affect the patient outcome. The discharge plan along with the plan of care should include all aspects of the patient’s life. “Patients are entitled to considerate and dignity of care” (Black, 2007). Nursing once used a systematic body of knowledge and currently utilizes a well defined and well organized body of knowledge that is intellectual and describes phenomena of concern as written in the table of characteristics of a profession. There are many organizations of nursing. The Center for Nursing Advocacy is quite impressive and “seeks to increase public awareness of the role nurses play in the health care” (Black, 2007). There is also “The American Association of Colleges of Nursing “which maintains government relations focusing on advancing public policy in nursing education, research, and practice” (Killen & Stewart 2007). The RN-BSN program has allowed...

International Marketing Coca Cola

...International Marketing Coca-Cola Out of many brands globally, one brand that has been part of our lives somewhere someplace around the world is Coca-Cola. I have learnt a lot from this class from how to successfully market products to how to respect and turn culture into an advantage. One of the main things I learned from this class in regards to this brand has to be the 4ps. Product, Price, Promotion, and Place. This basic model has brought Coca-Cola to be known throughout, as a world class brand. The product that Coca-Cola has given to the people has always been similar but different to the world. First off, the product Coca-Cola has branded on is a carbonated soft-drink which is sold in stores, vending machine and restaurants. Coca-Cola first began its product as a coca based wine which had sold in Europe. With the introduction of prohibition it had changed its recipe to a non-alcoholic beverage. Many believed during this time that carbonated drinks had medicinal powers which Coca-Cola took advantage of and sold its beverage as a medicinal drink. As times have continued Coca-Cola has continued to expand its product variety from Coca-Cola to Minute-Maid its has consistently progressed different avenues of beverages. While it has expanded Coca-Cola has continued to protect Coca-Cola and has never changed its original product and never changed the recipe. Price, Coca-Cola as delicious as it is has always kept prices down and affordable to all, never raising the cost and keeping...

...able to deduce consequences from what he knows, and he knows how to make use of information to solve problems, and to seek relevant sources of information to inform himself. What are the three most significant things that you learned about critical thinking during this course In this course? I've learned how to state one point at a time. Elaborate more on what I mean when presenting a idea. Provide examples that connect your thoughts to life experiences. Use analogies and metaphors to help people connect my ideas to a variety of things they already understand (for example, critical thinking is like an onion. There are many layers to it. Just when you think you have it basically figured out, you realize there is another layer, and then another, and another and another and on and on) •How has your critical thinking changed since starting this course? Critical Thinking to me is having the ability to apply reasoning and logic to new or unfamiliar ideas, opinions, and situations. Thinking critically involves seeing things in an open-minded way and examining an idea or concept from as many angles as possible. •Re-evaluate your stage of development in critical thinking and why you placed yourself in that stage. If your rating has changed since Week One, explain why you think this change occurred.Error in reasoning is another thing that I have found to be crucial learning point for me with this course. Macroeconomics What I Have Gained

...that this should have been a class that I should have taken in a classroom setting, but due to my schedule and location, it would not have been possible to do so. To be successful in this course, I was to pay attention to details and work my assignments in sequential order, work consistently and not procrastinate and read all of the course documents. I followed through on some of these things but lacked on some as well. I would have to say that in grading myself, I would give myself a C, which is what I have earned so far in this course. The most surprising thing I learned in economics is that I didn’t really know much at all about the subject, and still do not feel like I have mastered it. I was completely unaware of the Keynesian Economics. I learned more about the history of economic falls in our country. I learned that I was not fully aware of how the economy works especially when it comes to our government and industries. I have gone over so many different things that I am completely overwhelmed and currently cannot specify one specific thing that was eye-opening or life changing. Macroeconomics did change my way of thinking when it comes to the economy and how things are constantly changing and how our unemployment rate effects us nation wide. What I have learned in this class has changed how I feel about money management and not saving. I have always known that I need to save and that my finances could crash at the drop of the hat, but this class has helped...

I have done various research projects over the course of my time as a student but this class helped tremendously in that it showed me various more organized and successful ways of conducting research. The most practical lesson I learned in this course were all the various types of research formats. I also liked that we discussed ethical and legal ways of asking intimately personal questions to study candidates in such a way that would be less offensive and/or intrusive. This lesson is paramount in the success of future studies to be done that might involve individuals that are not as comfortable talking openly about some things but still are willing to provide supporti8ng evidence for whatever the research topic might entail. ...wanted to specialise in and what path I was going to take. It all changed once I begin studying the introduction to biomedical science, as it made me understand more about each profession and how everyday life working in a specific area of biology is like. Introduction to biomedical science has most definitely changed my mind on what career I want to do once I graduate. It has given me a wide outlook of the many different directions I can go with this course and explained to me what each of them contains. Overall this module has impacted my perspective of biomedical science. By doing this course I now am confident in what profession I want to specialise. It has taught me the importance of microbiology and how much of a big role it plays in healthcare and that without the study of microbes there would be no way for cures to be found of certain infections/diseases. From doing the patient case studies it has really taught me how scientists who specialize in different biology subjects come together to diagnose a patient. For example this showed me how a haematologist, microbiologist and a clinical biochemist work together to diagnose a patient of a certain infection/disease. In addition to this I did some more research into microbiology and have decided that this is the route I am going to specialise in in the future. This module has taught me how much biomedical scientists are a part of a patient’s wellbeing. Also how much skills is needed to work together as a team and...

A. the Scope and Nature of the Public Policy Problem.

...320 Public Policy & Social Services Instructor: Bernie Colon February 18, 2014 Weekly Journal I’ve started this journal one week into this class, and became aware that sociology is a major undertaking, but so far it has been a great journey. Knowing my audience for this paper allows me to draw from my last 3 years of study, this in turn will allow me to qualify what I may have learned. Cultural Anthropology seems to be at the forefront of my thinking why? I will address this thesis at the end of this course. This journal will be with me for the next 5 weeks and like it or not I will reveal my thoughts and intuition concerning the given subject. Let’s get started. For your journal entry, you will explore aspects of your personal experience and/or beliefs regarding significant public policies and what you have learned in your readings. As you reflect, please address the following questions: What are the current major environmental issues? "The amount of greenhouse gas in the atmosphere is already above the threshold that can potentially cause dangerous climate change. We are already at risk...It's not next year or next decade, it's now." Report from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA): We are at the mercy of our environment and in my life time I have seen the environment destroyed. Sociology seems to be showing me another aspect in my comprehension of critical thinking. The environment became a legitimate policy issue in American...

...Strategies for the Technical Professional, I came into the course with background knowledge on Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Little did I know that this course would actually involve more than just using these three tools, it would involve thinking about the challenges and adversities I have overcome to get where I am today. Also coming into this course my biggest fear was knowing that I was going to have to possibly do a presentation in front of my classmates. Well I have learned a lot more than I thought I would, from overcoming my fear of doing public speaking to learning what type of learner I am. This course has expanded my knowledge to a wider width, I have already started applying some of the skills and techniques I have learned from this course to my life. I have encountered a lot of personal obstacles along the way, and even though times got hard and tough I overcame them and kept pushing myself. One of the major things that changed from the first day of class to the final day of class was that I changed my study habits. Before this class I never actually set time aside to study. With the strategies I learned, I now set time aside to study every day. One of the assignments that helped me do this was making a personal schedule. By doing this I learned how to consume my time in a manner that is effective and not wasteful. For the final project I chose a topic that was very personal to me. By choosing this topic it made working on it a little bit easier, the problem...

Reflection Essay

...Essay How has your view of theology changed over the past eight modules/weeks? My view of theology has been changed in many ways in the last eight weeks. There has been much clarity of scripture and my life as a Christian. I have always struggled with many points of view such as salvation, hell, and even sin. My own theological thought process has been given a new view of my own walk with Christ. This has enabled me to share Gods word with others with more confidents as I have gain more knowledge. Views that I would have never considered or explored; have given me a new spirit of excitement into Gods word and his plan for all mankind. I also believe that it has allowed me to let my “guard down” to other views other than my own. I have grown a new found love for scripture that I never thought I would have, even though I have been reading the good book since I was young. Since those day I have been exposed to multiple views of Christianity, like the Jehovah Witness view. Yet these views made reading scripture less appealing since they all take different approaches of scripture and give off many false interpretations. How have you been able to put into practice the principles you learned from the course? Funny thing is that ever since I have started this course there have been many times that the Lord has granted me the opportunity to discuss these topics with many people I come across. One of these topics happen to be “Hells best kept secret” by Ray Comfort. This has helped...
