The book Red Queen is about a girl who has unexplainable powers that shouldn't be possible. Her name is Mare Barrow. In the world that Mare lives in, people are divided by their blood. Mare and her family are Red bloods, who are there to serve the Silver bloods, whose powers make them nearly Gods. Throughout her Red life, Mare stole valuables to keep their family together, and did what she could to survive. She often went to the black market and traded with an organization called the Scarlet Guard. One day, she met a boy named Cal, a Silver, that was strangely nice to her, unlike other Silvers. Then out of nowhere, Mare got selected to be a Red servant at the castle. While she was walking on the balcony, at the royal castle, she saw that the royal sons were there and Cal was a prince, choosing like his brother, who they were to be betrothed to. She lost track of where she was going, and fell off, but her power saved her. …show more content…
She also has to become betrothed to Cal’s brother, Maven. She then finds out that the Scarlet Guard is attacking the Silvers because they treat Reds so terribly. Mare and Maven become part of this rebellion because Maven was a good person to Mare and she started to be in love with both Cal and Maven. Maven said that he just wanted to get revenge on Cal because he was always the “better son.” Mare learned how to use her powers, and then the Scarlet Guard attacked the castle by bombing it and killing around 10 Silvers. Maven and Mare’s relationship grew and grew as the story went on. The Scarlet Guard kept planning attacks, when she found out that there were other people like her, Reds with Silver powers.
