My Personal Responsibility Essay

What is personal responsibility? What does it have to do with my educational and career goals? Nice os These are the questions I have asked myself from time to time, and the only way I could find the answer was through the great Winston Churchill’s words : . A man who “thought of the responsibility of the world, on his own shoulders” (The Churchill Centre and Museum At The Churchill War Rooms, London, 2004). His belief, as he stated for the entire world to hear at the beginning of the first World War was “The price of greatness is responsibility.”(Alyn [Citation error—Author mentioned in text: Smith (2007), otherwise use (Smith, 2007). Limit intro to os, thesis and pp Winston Churchill said, what every man and woman should understand, without personal responsibility, whether it is your education, your [Eliminate second person (you/your) in academic documents, and avoid addressing the reader directly.] career, or even your family, you will fail. In this essay, I will explain what personal responsibility means to me, how it will influence my educational success, and my plan to practice personal responsibility in my education.

When someone asks me what personal responsibility means to me the first word that comes to my mind is success nicely stated . I believe that this term is simply another way of saying dependability. Can you rely on this person? Can you [Last reminder—This is a repeated error. Please read the rest of the document carefully to locate other similar errors.] rely on yourself? In order to be successful you must be dependable, people have to know they can trust you and rely on you. And [Eliminate conjunctions (e.g., and, but, so) at the beginning of a sentence.] for an individual, they have to have the confidence that they can get things done. Personal Responsibility is not something that not only employers look for, but family members and even colleges look to see if a person is reliable. As an employer, a father, and a college student, personal responsibility means not just being dependable, but also performing at the expected level consistently, and being a role model who leads by example. One of the foundations for practicing and learning personal reliability is your education. Very nice explanation – also need intext citations in section to fortify claims

The major difference between grade school and college can be measured by personal responsibility. Nice, clear claim here Throughout grade school teachers are there to guide you, to hold your hand, [Delete comma (Delete commas where they are not required)] and to catch you if you fall until you get your high school diploma. You are expected to be taught how to become reliable, and how to have an understanding or responsibility by the time your graduate from grade school. Winston Churchill once said, “The foundation of life is taught to you in grade school. You learn more than arithmetic. You learn what is expected of you, and how to achieve the things you want in life. [Beware of overly long or overly short paragraphs. Eliminate one-sentence paragraphs. An effective paragraph develops one central idea.] The difference between those of us who succeed and those who do not, is the difference of who learned this lesson” (Alyn). While teachers have been of assistance to me in college, my success as a college student is my own personal responsibility. It is because I have learned this lesson and chose to abide by it. It is now my responsibility to manage my time, prioritize the things going on in my life, and ultimately to decide whether my path as a college student will be a success or failure. There is no blaming the school that I go to, the teacher that I have, the state mandated tests required to pass or fail a grade, or the bus being late for school. Every choice that I make in college is my personal responsibility, and my education will reflect by my drive to succeed because I learned the aforementioned lesson. However, with every mission, you need a plan to in order for it to succeed.

My plan is simply organization. Winston Churchill once said that “ Organization doesn’t just win wars, it wins wars without sacrificing that which is dear to us” (The Churchill Centre and Museum At The Churchill War Rooms, London, 2004). This being translated through personal responsibility, if you are organized than you not only achieve the goal you are trying to accomplish, but you do so without any risk or loss in any other aspect of your life. Organization is the key to managing numerous responsibilities. By effectively using a planner to keep track of assignments, tests, and deadlines, I will better be able to plan and see at a glance what my workload will be like each week. Time management and organization go hand in hand. Through organization I will be able to use effective use of time management to fulfill my personal responsibilities as a successful college student. Organization is not limited to a planner for my education however. It is living an organized life which incorporates many factors. Health, work, family, and school all run hand in hand. [Beware of overly long or overly short paragraphs. Eliminate one-sentence paragraphs. An effective paragraph develops one central idea.] [Last reminder—This is a repeated error. Please read the rest of the document carefully to locate other similar errors.] I keep this organized by ensuring I get to sleep on time and eat 3 square meals a day to keep my health so that it does not affect my education or any other aspect of my life. I make sure that I leave whatever issues I have from my employer… at my employer’s office to ensure I can focus on family and college when I get home every day. Also, I ensure that I set aside an allotment of time for my family every day so that I don’t feel as if I am burning out or avoiding them. And with my education, instead of trying to knock out all of my assignment on the last day they are due, I work on them a little bit every day so that I have an even workload. With me remaining organized as described, it allows ultimate efficient and for me to exercise my personal responsibility. Very nice plan here

In conclusion, to me personal responsibility is not simply being dependable, but more so a way of life. If you learned the lessons throughout grade school that you should have than you can achieve greatness in all aspects of your life. Your education can be severely influenced by personal responsibility, and my plan to practice personal responsibility is to effectively use time management techniques and organization to achieve my educational and life goals. Being dependable, organized, and effectively managing your time can facilitate you in your life’s endeavors, and is an essential part of becoming and remaining successful in your education, as well as life in general. As we learned from Mr. Churchill earlier, It is the key to greatness. And if you know that greatness comes with responsibility, do you want to know what comes without it?

Personal Respsonsibility Cause and Effect

...because the words are so profoundly true. In the end we cannot blame anyone but ourselves for the way our life turns out. As I began writing this paper, I really had to think about how I felt about my own personal responsibility. I had to consider how my decisions affect those that are in my personal circle. Realizing the choices that I make now or in the future could have a paramount effect on my family and closes friends. Yes, I am responsible for how others view me and take into account the person that I have come to be. Being personally responsible means; being accountable for everything that happens in my life, including my actions, attitude and the decisions I make about such things as my health, how I handle myself on my job, being a good parent and being an excellent student. Personal responsibility also means that for every cause there is an effect, every action has a reaction. Is this reaction positive or negative? Well, that depends solely on how one handles the situation life throws your way. My true happiness depends on the degree to which I recognize and accept the consequences of my actions and realize that each action has a direct impact on whether I reach my goals, accomplish my dreams and make my life meaningful. I have recently decided to take personal responsibility for my life and finish what I started so many years ago. I always promised myself when I had finished raising my son I would return to school and complete my degree. That moment has arrived...

Personal Responsibility

...Personal Responsibility and College Success Personal responsibility is something that can help an individual. I believe that if a person has the sense to be responsible in their everyday life, then being successful in college will be a breeze. To be successful, one has to make good choices to get good results. The choice I made was to attain my college degree. In order to pursue that goal, I need to be personally responsible for the work ahead and make it through any obstacles. Furthering ones education and personal responsibility have many things in common, especially if it helps that person get their priorities in order. Personal responsibility is accepting the actions chosen and the consequences from those actions. I take upon myself to set my personal responsibility as succeeding in college. Haskins (2009) wrote, “When applied to education, personal responsibility means that students accept the responsibility to study hard and to learn as much as they can in courses that press against the limits of their capacity.”. In other words, I am going to push myself until I can no longer push. Move forward, do not look back – only look at what the future holds. I want to set an example for my children that if you find the motivation that helps you be that better person, go for it. According to Ellis (2011), “Motivation can come simply from being clear about your goals and acting on them.” My personal motivations are to provide my children with a future that I can give...

...Individual personal statement Over the course of the facilitation module I have learnt many things, whether it be through work in class, through my own wider reading or my own personal experiences being a participant. One thing that has become clear through my reading of Boal's games for actors and non-actors is that facilitation is a platform to allow anyone to experience drama. I found this very interesting as using facilitation in this way shows the positive ways in which drama can be used. I felt that this was an important idea, especially as the purpose of our workshop was to bring drama to an age group that might not have had a chance to experience it. Although our group was not on the same calibre as the groups that Boal's in the theatre of the oppressed it is still just as important for them to experience drama, “Even if they had all been homogeneous groups I feel that this introduction would have been necessary” (Boal,1992) this clearly shows that it is important that we use facilitation in this way. Although I missed a section of this module, due to health reasons, I feel that I have tried my best to put in an equal effort towards to outcome as my peers. I have tried to use my own experiences being a participant in workshops myself and also my experience being a facilitator at a local drama school to influence my decisions in the planning and development process. Personal Credo

...Psychology Major Module 2: Assignment: Instructions and Grading Rubric DIRECTIONS: Personal Credo: Psychology is a science that pervades nearly every moment of every day of our lives. To provide just one small example, consider the complex psychological and physiological processes involved in forming thoughts, communicating with others, and remembering both happy and sad memories. The very manner in which you engage (or do not engage) with others in the world around you has been derived from a series of influences on you, both genetic and environmental, that have shaped you into the person you are today. Thus, we are the amalgamation of collective influences on us, from our families and friends to our coworkers and larger society. It is my firm conviction that to appreciate who we are and what we stand for, it is important to periodically self-reflect and consider our life experiences, those things important to us, and our current direction in life. To assist you in doing this, I will ask that each of you complete a “personal credo.” This term may be somewhat alien to you, so I will explain what materials are to be included in this brief summary of who you are. Submit your assignment via the Dropbox no later than Sunday 11:59 PM EST/EDT. (This Dropbox basket is linked to Turnitin.) The word “credo” relates to a personal set of values or beliefs. Personal Responsibility

...Running head: PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY Personal Responsibility Julie George GEN/200 June 25, 2012 Monique Mesa Personal Responsibility Although many people are involved, college success depends greatly on personal responsibility. The definition of personal is “of, pertaining to, or coming as from a particular individual” and responsible means “answerable or accountable, as for something within one’s power, control, or management (Dictionary.com, 2012).” As a result, personal responsibility is an individual being accountable for the things he or she can control. Learning different strategies for success will not only be responsible, it will set up a routine that can be used beyond my college career. What is done now affects the outcome of the experience and personal responsibility is accepting the results of those actions. These concepts do not only apply to college but will be valuable in the workplace. Strategies Often times, people begin college thinking it will be like high school. In some ways they are right, but college takes much more personal responsibility, especially when taking classes online. There is not a teacher constantly reminding you of the tasks you must complete, or to encourage you to get things done. It is the student’s obligation to stay involved in the class, and get their school work accomplished. Some strategies to stay on track may seem simple, but can be very beneficial. The first strategy is setting clear and definite goals before starting...

As IT departments struggle to keep up with yearly technology changes, company employees increasingly want to utilize their own electronic equipment to access corporation data. People utilize, bring you own device (BYOD),bring your own tablet (BYOT), Bring Your Own Phone (BYOP) and Bring Your Own PC (BYOPC) All of these have evolved to empower workforces through the so-called 'computerization of IT. ...your own individual personal responsibility. How you deal with your own personal responsibility factors into each and every one of those decisions you make on a daily basis. Personal responsibility to me is, living and leading a successful lifestyle as an individual. When you learn to lead a successful lifestyle then you start to gain credibility to take on other responsibilities in life. Also, for the majority of time, how well you do with your own personal responsibility factors in on your college success. To obtain college success you need a certain maturity level. In today’s society, when you finish high school we go straight to college. If you have good enough grades, test scores to get into college doesn’t justify being able to live the lifestyle of a college student. Without being personally responsible it will be very difficult on your path for college success. After reading an article on a website by Brian Tracy, I took this quote pertaining to personal responsibility. “The acceptance of personal responsibility is what separates the adult from the child. It’s the great leap forward into maturity. Responsibility is the hallmark of the fully integrated, fully functioning human being.” (Tracy) This quote should be on the front of every college catalog. To me your opinion of that statement, will define you as a person. If you can’t accept personal responsibility then you will never progress past an adolescent’s maturity level. The group must now try to keep the ball in the air by striking it with their hands (0 points) or with their head (1 point). So in short, the idea is to keep the ball in the air by striking with your head or your hands, with only the head strikes counting as points. Originally the game was designed to be played for a time limit (1-2 Minutes) and with the team losing a point each time the ball hits the floor. College diplomas are not given to teams. These special certificates are presented as an acknowledgement of individual accomplishment and a testament to a student’s hard work, personal dedication and commitment in achieving academic success. However, once someone has been provided with the tools and resources to assist them along the way, ultimately it is up to the individual on how to use those tools correctly.
