Differing Perspectives What perspective did the British have during the Revolutionary War? Did they all agree with each other? What impact did it have on them? Well, Professor Stanley Weintraub may have some insight to these questions. Professor Weintraub claims, “that the British felt the Colonies were indebted to them and should be more appreciative.” According to Professor Weintraub, they felt that the American colonists owed them a great deal since the British provided them with protection, they purveyed their culture, and they provided them with manufacturers as well. However, the American colonists left out one crucial detail: They prevented manufacturers from being made in the American colonies, because they felt they should keep the

Neoclassical Economics

...INTRODUCTION Neoclassical economics is a term variously used for approaches to economics focusing on the determination of prices, outputs, and income distributions in markets through supply and demand, often mediated through a hypothesized maximization of utility by income-constrained individuals and of profits by cost-constrained firms employing available information and factors of production, in accordance with rational choice theory. The neo-classical view of economics was under the Type A definition which had to do with the wealth and material welfare. This school of thought was headed by Alfred Marshall in the 18th century, the neo-classical view came to buttress the explanation of the classical view of economics, it gave economics a stand above all other social sciences. According to Alfred Marshall, he defined Economics as the study of mankind in the ordinary business of life. There were other contributions to this view like E.Cannan who said the aim of political economy is the explanation of the general causes on which material welfare of human being depends Beveridge defined it as the study of general methods by which men cooperate to meet their material needs, and also to Pigou he said economics welfare is the subject matter of economic science Neoclassical economics dominates microeconomics, and together with Keynesian economics forms the neoclassical synthesis which dominates mainstream economics today.Although neoclassical economics has gained widespread acceptance...

Its Better to Have Brains Than Beauty

...INTRODUCTION The plays and prefaces of Bernard Shaw deal with many and diverse themes. At least four, however, concern themselves with evolutionary themes and ideas: Man and Superman, Back to Methusalah, The Simpleton of the Unexpected Isles, and Far-fetched Fables. In Man and Superman, especially the third act, the preface, and The Revolutionist's Handbook and Pocket Companion, Shaw touches on two main themes: the pursuit of man by woman and the direction of evolution, which Shaw sees as leading towards the development of the mind and brain. In Back to Methusalah, Shaw carries forward his vision of evolution as proceeding in the direction of mental development but introduces a seemingly new idea in the last play of the cycle, the antithesis of mind and body. Shaw's dualism receives its most explicit statement in the last play of the cycle although there may be indications of it in the earlier plays. The mind-body antithesis, however, derives as a philosophical problem from Descartes,1 although the antithesis also appeared in the Manichean and Gnostic heresies, the spirit, or mind, being regarded as good and the body as evil. Although the antithesis of body and mind makes its first open appearance in the Methusalah cycle, it is present, at least as an implicit assumption in Man and Superman. Don Juan continually expresses his longing for the life of contemplation, a life which is to be achieved at the expense of the body. We will deal with the presence of the mind body antithesis...

North Korea War

...Korean War Korean War The Korean War (25 June 1950 - armistice signed 27 July 1953[1] ) was a military conflict between the Republic of Korea, supported by the United Nations, and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, supported by the People's Republic of China (PRC), with military material aid from the Soviet Union. The war was a result of the physical division of Korea by an agreement of the victorious Allies at the conclusion of the Pacific War at the end of World War II. The Korean peninsula was ruled by Japan from 1910 until the end of World War II. Following the surrender of Japan in 1945, American administrators divided the peninsula along the 38th Parallel, with United States troops occupying the southern part and Soviet troops occupying the northern part.[2] The failure to hold free elections throughout the Korean Peninsula in 1948 deepened the division between the two sides, and the North established a Communist government. The 38th Parallel increasingly became a political border between the two Koreas. Although reunification negotiations continued in the months preceding the war, tension intensified. Cross-border skirmishes and raids at the 38th Parallel persisted. The situation escalated into open warfare when North Korean forces invaded South Korea on 25 June 1950.[3] It was the first significant armed conflict of the Cold War.[4] The United Nations, particularly the United States, came to the aid of South Korea in repelling the invasion.
