Cardiopulmonary Technician is the profession that I chose to pursue in the military. My duties as a technician is not just taking care of the heart, lungs and breathing but also taking care of people. I do stress tests for your heart to check for any abnormalities that could occur. I do Performance Fitness Tests for your lungs to make sure your getting maximum effort when you exhale, and for breathing I make sure if your on a ventilator that your breathing is not labored. The feeling I get when I have assisted others in getting healthier and going home to there families,1 gives me that sense of accomplishment. Thats the joy I get from taking care of people and this is why I am still here. The mentoring I have had over the years has transformed my outlook on the Air Force. What it means and what it represents to me. Changing it from being a scapegoat to get by to it being my way of life. Now my life exemplifies Air For Core Values “Integrity First, Service Before Self...

University of Oslo, Norway This book presents an entirely new approach to professional learning based on perspectives of the knowledge society and, in particular, an interpretation of Knorr Cetina’s work on scientific ‘epistemic cultures’. Starting with a conceptual chapter and followed by a suite of empirical studies from accountancy, education, nursing and software engineering, the book elaborates how: a) knowledge production and circulation take distinct forms in those fields; b) how the knowledge objects of practice in those fields engross and engage professionals and, in the process, people and knowledge are transformed by this engagement. By foregrounding an explicit concern for the role of knowledge in professional learning, the book goes much farther than the current fashion for describing ‘practice-based learning’. It will therefore be of considerable interest to the research, policy, practitioner and student communities involved with professional education/learning or interested in innovation and knowledge development in the professions. ...Background paper On Domains of Culture Learning and Knowledge Since the dawn of time human beings have been learning how to survive throughout the world and passing this knowledge gained over centuries down to their children for generations and now into the near future. America is widely known for its prestige college universities and its higher standards for learning and knowledge. As Americans how would the world be if we did not have Learning and Knowledge in our American culture? Today, we are going to discuss Learning and Knowledge and how it has vastly affected our American culture as a whole. Learning and knowledge in American culture has always been perceived as your stepping stone to a better life. First, we will examine Learning and its effect on the American culture. In a famous quote from Leonard Da Vinci “Learning never exhausts the mind”.1 This can be simply put as our minds as human beings will continue to learn and grow as much as we deem fit. Typically, we attend school all the way up to the age of eighteen and we have a choice to make on whether or not to attend college or set off into the American work force. Regardless, of what choice we make learning is going to occur in both aspects of attending college or starting a new job/career in the American workforce. Attending college will give you a better knowledge of how our society works and how to some-what navigate through everyday life. Entering into the workforce you will gain more of a hands-on, everyday...

...12 Domains of Culture BACKGROUND PAPER ON SUSTENANCE & HEALTH (HEALING AND WELLNESS) 1. You are what you eat and what you eat is a reflection of your values and beliefs. To many Americans, food is not only a source of nourishment, it is also directly related to health and wellness. This research paper is intended to establish a better understanding of American culture and to reinforce cross cultural competence, specifically health and wellness. Healing and wellness are as ancient and culturally diverse as our nation. Americans today have become disconnected from the values and beliefs we once held. This loss of culture has led to many health concerns. .Fortunately, there is a new food culture emerging in America. This new culture includes a range of treatments that is used by Americans to promote health and wellness. In many traditional cultures, the health and wellness of an individual is related to the combination of the mind, body, and spirit. 2. Traditional culture, such as Native Americans, have used diets and plants to promote health by living in unison with the earth. They equated health and wellness to wholeness. Unfortunately, this way of life has been lost with every new generation. “Less than 100 years ago, diabetes was almost unheard of among Native Americans. Today diabetes runs rampant through many tribes as they integrate into the mainstream culture and adopt the typical American lifestyle.”1 Our values and beliefs have become so different which has caused...

...PERSONAL LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PLAN PART I: PERSONAL VALUES My top 5 values are: 1. Family is by far my most important value. Without family I wouldn’t be where I’m at today. Rather it’s my grandparents, parents or wife, when nobody else is there for me they are. Family however isn’t just about blood relatives with me but my closest friends in the world too. The same respect and love I have for my actual family I have for my closest friends too, so I consider them extended family. 2. Respect is my second value. Without having respect for someone or something then you won’t ever have progress in whatever you wish to accomplish. The cool thing about respect is, it’s earned and not given. When there is mutual respect among individuals then it can be the start of something special. 3. Loyalty is my third value. I think this is a value which a lot of the world has loss due to everyone is always trying to get over on each other. Instead of trying to get over on each other we should remain loyal and help each other out. There are enough royalties and solutions to any problem for everyone to be happy. 4. Progression is my fourth value. I have had a lot of success in my career as well as hard times. In the end I always find a way to move on and progress. The key to progression for me is not getting complacent when things are great and not getting too down when things are bad. Rather good or bad find a way to progress...

...analyze us, or taking surveys. The LSI survey is a way we can see where we fit in amongst other individuals. This survey helps assess our personality characteristics and other traits according to how we interact in society. I took the survey to see where my personality traits rate with other people. I will go over the results and how a person can learn and change from them. The LSI survey is a circle that is broken in many parts. There are 3 areas that the circle is broken into which are satisfaction needs, task orientation, and security needs. The primary part is the satisfaction needs whereas the backup tells you what causes these traits. When it comes to the scoring of the survey I had my highest in the constructive styles 1, 2, 11, and 12. These help with self-enhancing thinking and behavior that causes satisfaction. Number 1 is the humanistic encouraging The Humanistic-Encouraging scale measures our interest in people, our tendency to care about others, and our ability to encourage them to improve. Humanistic-Encouraging people are accepting of themselves, and accept others for who they are without any issues. I believe I am definitely like this because I am not a judgmental person. Number 2 is the affiliate part that measures degree of commitment to forming and sustaining satisfying relationships. This is the area where people want to establish long relationships with others. I think when it comes to seeking relationships I am like that because I want to have long term...
