I’ve never been interested in art but I went to the Mint Museum on Randolph. I saw the 1762 oil painting of King George III by Allan Ramsay. It is titled King George III and has dimensions of 96 x 63 inches.
In the painting the composition is calm as it is right before his coronation, and has a use of neutral colors. The use of directional lines in the background helps the viewers eyes wander so they can see the picture and its entirety. In the foreground Ramsay pays attention to detail when showing the rug the king is standing on and the details of his robe. Even in the background he pays attention to the detail of the pillar and the curtain so that it doesn’t just fade into the painting. He uses intricate and small brushstrokes to add detail
