...Can you believe that we can use this simple milk, an ordinary milk that we see every time in our own houses as homemade glue? Well, I do. It’s so inexpensive and not a really a big deal to our wallets. You can do all kinds of unexpected things with milk, like make your own pore strips and invisible ink, or even get rid of red wine stains with it. But did you know that you can also use it to make your own glue? Many ask questions on how well do this homemade glue sticks, how well does it work with papers, how long does it last and how long does it take for it to totally work. Current researchers have proven that this homemade glue is very effective. But it is also stated that it is not applicable in all types of textures. It doesn’t work well with hardwood textures & specially metals. But we they made sure that it is totally effective in any type of papers and non-fabric materials. It also doesn’t stick well in furniture. It is also proven that it only takes about 5-10 minutes of waiting till it totally sticks on the desired surface. Many anonymous asks, “Why use milk”? Well the answer is because that milk has the properties of becoming sticky when mixed with baking soda, water and vinegar. In case,...

...Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. I remember saying that when I was little because I was picked on for having a skin disorder which caused me to have white blotches on my face. I said that as a source of defense of the verbal attack. I find that language can hurt anyone; however, the severity of hurt is all dependent on the person and how sensitive they are. I am not that much of a sensitive person being that I have developed a tolerance for the opinions of others. To be successful, you have to take things with a grain of salt and keep it moving because if you dwell on the things people say, you will never progress unless you take what people say and make it benefit you for the better. With this statement, I neither agree nor disagree because words are something permanent. Yes, a broken bone may hurt, but the pain is temporary. Words stick to a person, especially if it is something with meaning. I grew up in the country and people would always try to knock me for going in the military and going to school. I even had people to tell me I was arrogant for doing so. I used the words from those people as my driving force to make myself a better person. Referencing to the book, language and gender is something that is very true. If you tell a woman she is fat over and over, more than likely, she will try to either lose the weight or conceal her body. If you call a man fat over and over, more than likely, he will think nothing about. As I stated...

...Importance of communication Effective communication is essential to the success of any business organization. Since the world is becoming a global village it is of utmost importance to effectively communicate within and outside of an organization. However, due to large organizational sizes and tall organizational structures it becomes difficult to get any message across. This creates boundaries in the organization, internally in terms of various departments and externally in terms of customers. To overcome this dilemma, in the video Messages that Stick', Professor Chip Heath emphasizes on the importance of making the point stick rather than just getting the message across and explains how to go about it. Professor Heath commences his lecture with focus on urban legends, that is, myths and stories. Urban legends have been stuck in peoples' minds and have persisted over decades, spanning over cultural boundaries. For instance, the story of the dead girl who appears on a dark eerie roadside is known almost world over, yet in different situations. In the American version, the man who finds the girl is in a car. In the European version, the car is replaced by a carriage. Whereas in the Chinese version, the mode of transport is believed to be a horse. The professor explains that urban legends succeed even though they lack many advantages that organizational messages have. They do not have support from top management. They do not have advertising budgets, or public relation...

...beginning we asked two simple questions before the initiation of the project. First, we asked if people use wireless charging or not, majority of the participants said NO since they were not familiar with wireless charging technology. Then we asked if they would use a lighter portable battery different than PowerBank. This time, majority of the participants said YES. We all want to stay online; it’s a big want-rather than a want nowadays staying online is a need. It’s always preferred to a dead battery. So, we decided to come up with Dispobatt. What is Dispobatt? It’s a disposable battery for smartphones. It will look like an RFID Tag more or less, a transparent circuit that charges smartphones for the given amount of percentage. You’ll stick it to the rear panel of your device and it will start working, charging your phone immediately. This immediate connection will happen due to the combined use of NFA technology Qi technology together. Now you’ll probably ask what NFA and Qi technologies are. Well, in the simplest term Near Field Audio™ (NearFA™) is a new wireless audio technology that allows mobile devices to transmit sound to an amplifying speaker within a short distance. Most existing mobile devices such as iPhone, iPod, iPad and Android devices are supported by NearFA™. For instance, it only allows transmitting sounds and needs physical connection. Qi is an interface standard developed for inductive electrical power transfer over distances of up to 4 cm. The Qi system...

...where I have felt like other in many different occasions for many different reasons ranging from my age, race, and even just overall view or stance on an event. One time that sticks out to me the most where I felt like other is in a personal relationship that I had in my life. This relationship constantly had me feeling like an outsider when I was around him, his family, or just others who were of the same nationality and culture as him. They would constantly be speaking in their native language when ever they were together which completely excluded me from being involved in any of the on going conversations or even knowing what was going on around me. I felt completely excluded and lost. It made me feel like an outsider looking in every time we were around him and his family or friends they never even made an effort to include me it was more of if you want to be included you’ll conform to us and learn their language and their ways. Being in this situation defiantly taught me a lesson. It opened my eyes and made me more aware of how I treated others who were new to my group of friends or family. It made me more observant of people’s feelings and open to including people who I wouldn’t normally think to include in activities, conversations or events. A few weeks go we discussed how people tend to stick to those of their own cultures causing others to feel like they are outsiders and I remember bringing up this same experience I had with this relationship and I was just never...

Copyright © 2012, Richard Ivey School of Business Foundation Version: 2012-02-13 In early 2011, the senior executives of Sher-Wood Hockey (Sher-Wood), the venerable Canadian hockey stick manufacturer, were pondering whether to move the remaining high-end composite hockey and goalie stick production to its suppliers in China. Sher-Wood had been losing market share for its high-priced, high-end, one-piece composite sticks as retail prices continued to fall. Would outsourcing the production of the iconic Canadian-made hockey sticks to China help Sher-Wood to boost...

...predominantly specialising in wooden sticks for players from the National Hockey League down to players at the junior level. Sher-Wood also produces composite sticks, albeit at a much lower volume. Whilst hockey stick production has traditionally been based in North America, over the last decade there has been a significant shift towards global sourcing in the industry (Zhang & Beamish, 2011, p.21). This has been driven by a desire to access low-cost factors of production, secure cheaper material resources, and ultimately gain a competitive advantage. Sher-Wood’s competitors and industry leaders such as Reebok-CCM, Bauer and Warrior began outsourcing majority of their stick production both on and off shore in the early millennium years. Sher-wood followed suit in 2006, contracting production of its lower end and custom-made wooden sticks to producers in Estonia and China, and outsourcing production of its flagship wooden stick (the PMP 5030) to a local service provider in Victoriaville, Quebec (Zhang & Beamish, 2011, p.23). Some composite models were outsourced to China, with the exception of Sher-Wood’s high-priced high-end composite sticks, which have continued to be produced onsite in Sherbrooke. The problem is that there is a low return on investment for the Sherbrooke manufacturing plant since the product has been losing market share as retail prices have continued to fall. Specifically, sales volumes for this particular stick dropped almost 50 per cent in the year...

Each of the girl will be a 1-yuan, each of the boy will be a 0.5-yuan. * And when the host call a random amount of money (like 3.5 yuan) and then the students have to count in their head and rush into a group which they belong to in order to get the total amount of 3.5 yuan * Who eventually can’t find their partners (group) will be eliminated (or he/she/they’ll get a small punishment, just for fun) b. “So you think you have 2 legs?!” * There is a host who control the game (EP & buddy), the students go around in a circle. * When the host stop and order the number of people and legs in one group E.g: Host: “5 people 2 legs” And then the students have to rush into a group of 5 and they have to manage to make sure that 5 people in that group only have 2 legs left on the ground (they can do anything like carrying each other or whatever that makes sense) Also, Who eventually can’t find their partners (group) will be eliminated (or he/she/they’ll get a small punishment, just for fun).
