Erika Gallego, Zulema Romo, Ricardo Manjarrez, Al Flores

Our team reviewed the power point presentations that were provided for us. We were amazed that there is a certain amount of psychology that goes into being a manager and a leader. We also discussed that there is a difference between being a manager and leader. Zulema, Erika, and Al are all managers as well as leaders within their organizations. Zulema who is a department manager at the bank she works for does incorporate the management skills that were discussed in our class. Erika who works as the human resource director for the company she works for also manages as well as leads her employees to perform to the standard that are expected by the company. Al who is also an administrator for the fire department which he is a part of does a considerable amount of managing as well as leading his firefighters to adhere to the districts policies but also motivates his crews to perform at their very best. For the most part we all are viewed as leaders and managers within our professions, even though not each us are in a position of official authority, we are each responsible for others. We all agreed that we felt comfortable with material presented, and there was not much that we struggled with. The information was clear and easily understood. For some of us the material provided a better understanding and definition of what we were casually doing on a daily basis when at our places of employment. It was an eye opener to realize the amount of psychology that actually supports and defines how to understand an employee’s behavior. We all know that the information provided was theories and not exactly an exact science, but it was information that we can use with in our own managerial tool bag.
