Good evening Boston Massachusetts. Today, January 15th 1919, a storage tank holding 2.9 million gallons of molasses caved under pressure and spilled out through the city. The 35mph wave, created by the rupture, has a current death toll of 22 people and 150 injured. Standing 15 feet tall and 160 feet wide, the wave demolished homes, streets, buildings, and anything that it touched. Many viewers said the wave looked like a picture from a horror film. They described it as an enormous ball of slimy syrupy goo. Officials are still deciding who to hold accountable for this sticky situation.
