Although this may be simple to understand, companies have a hard time putting this expensive practice into place because they must take many things into consideration. There are three things that make up the sustainability equation: people, planet, and product. The people involved in the sustainability equation include the company's employees and the consumers in the community. Planet can be defined as the ethical procedures of both the animals and the planet; the goal of sustainability in this part of the equation is to reduce greenhouse gases as well as carbon footprints, incorporate recycling, save energy, and treat animals ethically. The term product includes all the food items needs to satisfy consumers, which should be locally grown and have clean labels.
