...Week 5 Assignment John Gaudino University of Phoenix BS/COM 100 6/21/2015 New Business Analysis Gatorade is named after the Gators of Florida in the 1960's when a team of researchers were looking for something to help the football team. The team was suffering on the field from playing in the extreme heat. The coaching staff went to their crack team of scientists to figure out what they could do to help keep their team fresh during the crucial 4th quarter. Their solution was Gatorade and the product is still the number one sports drink in the world. Millions of athletes from all walks of life continue to use the product to get that extra boost. Is there a way to expend though? How can Gatorade's numbers grow even greater? Tapping into the social media realm to me is the way to go. Forms of media such as newspapers, magazines and even television to a certain point are dead forms of marketing. How often to see someone reading the newspaper or reading a magazine? There are reasons that most papers and publications have "E-books" of their content because this isn't 1985 anymore. Computers, Tablets, and Phones are the new way to market. Tapping into that market is the key to growing what is already a global product. Even television is a lost art in the world of marketing because of the introduction of DVR. Some services like Hulu Plus and Netflix will force viewers to watch an ad before continuing the programing. I am not saying to completely clean the...

It is impossible to spend sufficient time on the works we will be exploring within the bounds of class-time, so you will be required to spend time reading and writing on your own; this is a practice that will enable you to bring your personal experiences with these works to our discussions in class and participate in an engaged way as part of our community of learning. But our community of learning is broader than the classroom—it also includes the community organizations you will be partnering with for your service-learning. We will be investigating and interrogating a versatile metaphor—cultivation—and how it impacts the cultures and communities in which we live...

...bubble every time. It was time to start the second half. The defense has to try and stop the offense one more time. But the Iowa Hawks marched down the field and got a touchdown to make it a 14-10 game. Dak took the field again and was looking to lead his team to another touchdown to put the nail in the coffin. Dak was back at it throwing dots and making the right reads. He leaded them all the way down to the 4-yard line. It was now the fourth quarter and all Dak had to do is punch the ball in. They started with a 34 dive it only gained 2 yards. Then they got stuffed on the next two plays. It was now 4th and goal on the two. The call was another 34 dive but when Dak said, “hit” he saw the defensive end crash down hard on the running back, and he pulled it and sprinted to the pylon. Narrowing in on that pylon, his target was locked on. He was met at the pylon by the linebacker. He stretched out the ball and hit the pylon with the ball. It was a touchdown and the Cougars are winning 21-10. It was now only 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter. The Iowa Hawks got the ball at the 15-yard line. They chewed 3 minutes and 30 seconds off the clock and only got a field goal. They lined up for an onside. They attempted it but the Cougars caught it at the 48-yard line. The sideline went crazy. Everyone was jumping up and down screaming “WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS.” Dak went out for the last time. All he had to do is kneel three times and it was game over. He kneeled it the first time they all started...

...Southwest Airlines Group Assignment December 3, 2011 Group Two: Cleveland State University Marketing Strategy MBA Fall 2011 Professor: Rama Jayanti, PhD How has SWA (a) responded to the “Shuttle By United” initiative (half page 5 points); and (b) what assessments can be made about SWA’s market and financial position on competitive routes based on 1994 4th quarter results (half page 5 points)? On October 1st, 1994 when United Airlines introduced their “Shuttle By United” high-frequency, low-fare, minimal amenity, short-haul flight operation, Southwest Airlines was already the industry leader in this market segment. Southwest was the eighth largest airline in the United States based on the number of passenger miles flown and had recorded net income of $179.3 million on total operating revenue of $2.6 billion. This marked 22 consecutive years of profitable operations which was a feat unmatched in the U.S. airline industry over the past two decades. One of the main reasons for Southwest’s continued success was their core belief, and competency, in customer service. In 1994, for the third consecutive year Southwest won the unofficial “triple crown” of the airline industry by ranking first among major carriers in terms of on-time performance, baggage handling, and overall customer satisfaction. Many of the routes United Airlines selected for their “Shuttle By United” service were identical to the routes Southwest was already flying and so were the fares. Fortunately...
