Americans also hold a relentless drive to be successful to provide for family and achieve one's goal. The right to freedom, the pride and the success of many Americans is what the United States was once founded on. 4th Of July Research Paper

...Have you ever been to Chicago, IL? Have you ever been there during Independence Day? Regardless, the 4th of July is a date in which us as Americans celebrate our Independence, as the holiday’s name suggests. Often times, fireworks are closely related to this day. In this entry, I am going to talk about a mishap that happened with me during the 4th of July in Chicago. It was late in the evening, nearing midnight. Our family had happened to bring some small fireworks for us to celebrate with, some of these including Roman Candles. These types of fireworks shoot 6-10 explosions/stars, which shoot out while you hold it. Now, I was younger at this time, and I thought it would only shoot once. Nature Versus Nurture

...Instructor: Mr. Simbarashe Chiduma A RESEARCH PAPER Submitted to Baker College in partial fulfillment of requirements For class: Soc 201 Winter 2012 Homosexual is defined as: “of, relating to, or characterized by a tendency to direct sexual desire toward another of the same sex” (Webster’s Dictionary, 4th ed., 2003) The nature approach is based on a chance that humans are born with a specific gene that determines if they will be homosexual. "In other words, some people are born gay." (Johnson, 2003) The nurture approach tells that people are influenced by their surroundings. In this approach, "A nurtured gay person is one that is 'made' gay." (Johnson, 2003) Originally the American Psychological Association (APA) had deemed homosexuality a mental disease. The debate now- a-days revolve around if sexuality is based on nature, a person’s environment, or based on nurture, a person’s upbringing. Alfred Kinsey pioneered one of the earliest experiments in the 1930s. Kinsey’s research resulted in little besides putting the word homosexual into the common language. Karen Hooker completed the first psychological test in 1957. The research was put together to investigate the relationship between homosexuality, psychological development, and illness. The subjects were given three tests, the Rorschach, TAT, and MAPS. She determined that there was no link between social determinism of sexuality. As an outcome of Hooker’s research, the APA released a statement in 1975...

A review of the strengths and weaknesses of this study and appropriateness of the studies for the clinical issue is included. While there is an impact of death on family members, there has been little research documenting the reactions and responses of our nurses. A Curtain of Protection Grief is defined as “keen mental suffering or distress over affliction or loss; sharp sorrow; or painful regret“(Merriam-Webster,2014).  Every person in the world has suffered from grief at one point or another in their life, whether it was caused by the loss of a loved one or another reason it has been felt by them.   Different people express grief in different ways; it can often bring people together as well as divide them. This is the same for our nurses. One of the nursing functions of an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurse is providing care for terminally-ill patients and assists them towards a peaceful death. However, in helping those patients to approach a peaceful death in an intensive care unit, nurses deal with many difficulties such as communicating bad news, counseling the persons’ families, and facilitating a peaceful death when time is limited. ICU nurses frequently face patients’...

Basic Accounting Concepts

...Basic Accounting Concepts and Business Structures Karen Miersma ACC/537 July 14, 2012 Professor James Neuner   Basic Accounting Concepts and Business Structures One of the first things looked at when studying accounting concepts and business structures is GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles). There is a hierarchy that accountants use when exploring “substantial authoritative support” (Kieso, Weygandt, & Warfield, 2007, Chapter 1, Financial Accounting and Accounting Standards) in their accounting practices. This hierarchy provides the framework needed to prepare company financial statements. This hierarchy is very important because it is the company’s responsibility to select the accounting principles for their financial statements and the company needs to be in compliance with GAAP. Hierarchy Here are four main categories in this hierarchy. The first is the most authoritative, etc. 1. FASB Standards; APB Opinions; AICPA Research Bulletins. 2. FASB Bulletins; AICPA Accounting and Audit Guides; AICPA Statements. 3. FASB Emerging Issues Task Force; AICPA AcSEC Bulletins. 4. AICPA Interpretations; FASB Implementations; Widely Recognized and Prevalent Industry Practices1. Descriptions The federal government established the SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) to help regulate, standardize, and develop the financial information the stockholders receive (Kieso, Weygandt, & Warfield, Chapter 1, Financial Accounting and Accounting Standards, 2007).
