The First and second chronicles are usually read over, but they are very important. These historical books originally were on coherent book, but was broken into two due to scroll length. In our English bibles they are located after Samuel and the Kings, But in the Jewish bible it's at the end of the Old Testament. This is because it summarizes all of the jewish scripture. In the Book the first word is “Adam”, being the first character. The last paragraph is about the return of Israel from exile. These books were written between 538 BCE- 1 CE, and centuries after the Babylonian return from exile. The exact writer is unknown but believed to be a re-writing of Israel's History by the perspective of postexilic priests. Postexilic means the period …show more content…
One is “The Lord searches all hearts and understands all the intent and thoughts.” (1 chronicles 28:9). I like this quote because it's saying no matter who or what someone has done god tries to see where they're coming from and understand their intentions. This next one I feel like this is how I was raised and taught to go through life. “But as for you, be strong and do not slack off for there shall be a reward for what you do” (2 chronicles 15:7). In this quote they are saying that if you keep your nose to the grindstone and work had, with time you will be rewarded. The last one I picked makes this book's meaning almost change a little bit. “All among you, therefore, who belong to his people, may their god be with them; let them go up…” (2 chronicles 36:23) This quote ends the book in an incomplete sentence. Like I said before the authors hope. All of these quotes really sum up both of the chronicles.
This book uses the anagogical sense of scripture for these following reasons. One reason being it gives people hope. Once you loose hope you're that much closer to losing your will to live. I feel like when Jesus was on the cross he had to have hope in god. Hope that god would save him, whether he'd die or live he knew he’d survive one way or

Babylon and the Old Empire

...development, expansion, eventual decline, and why it became a focal point of many of the major events of the Old Testament. From the Great Empire of Akkad, Babylon became a major seat of learning, culture, and technology. More than simply a city-state of defiance, and sinful practices, Babylon’s influence, very often viewed through a negative scholarly lens, shaped the history of Asia Minor, Northern Africa, and the world when approached from a biblical standpoint. As such, Babylon remains a critical, powerful nation in relation to its nation-state of Israel, and Old Testament history. Nimrod The Cushite The first nation-state identified within contemporary Biblical literature is the land that is “Ethiopia”, as mentioned in Genesis 2:13[1]. Most importantly, the Hebrew term “Kush” is the concordance term used by Strong’s, which is interchangeable with the term Ethiopia(n), and defines the peoples of Cush, Ethiopia as being Black, Africans.[2] It is my intent to avoid any racist terminologies which intentionally, or inadvertently were inserted into the bible over the course of its compilation, and...
