Marijuana benefits
I think marijuana should be legalized because “the drug generally isn’t more harmful than alcohol or tobacco in moderation”. Not everyone is going to use it every single day. Other drugs that are legal are more harmful. “There are medical benefits such as those for cancer patients.” Scientists are trying to find a cure for cancer, and marijuana might be it. It relaxes the body as well. In conclusion marijuana has a lot of health benefits.
Another benefit is, “real” criminals can be taken off the streets. “Drug dealers would lose most or all of their business.” That would cause them to go out and find real jobs. Less innocent people will be put in jail and make room for the real bad crooks. “It could be a source of tax revenue.” The country would grow stronger with all the extra money. Taxes would help kids have a better education. The money can go to more school supplies. The nation can benefit with extra room in crowded jails and make better schools, roads, and more.
If marijuana gets legalized, there is still a choice weather people want to do it or not. “Like sex, alcohol, or cigarettes, marijuana is just one of life’s little pleasures for some people.” People just want to have fun and smoke marijuana without having to risk going to jail. Just like when someone drinks, they would need to have a designated driver. “Police and court resources would be freed up for more serious crimes.” Marijuana should be legalized so that police can worry about bigger crimes.
In conclusion marijuana needs to be legalized so that this nation isn’t stuck in the “recession”. Everyone would benefit from this in some way. Cancer patients, criminals, and party goers will be satisfied.
