- Terima kasih. Dengan kata "terima kasih" membuat orang lain merasa dihargai.
Kata TERIMA KASIH sering kita lupakan.

- I love you.

Semoga Berguna..^^

Mary Poppins Analysis

...But then one day I learned a word/That saved me achin' nose/The biggest word I ever heard/And this is how it goes, oh/ Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious." Bert explicitly says that, when he was young, he was a scared child who was afraid to speak and had an over-bearing father, until he – as a child – learned that magic word. It's a magical word that really only Mary Poppins knows or uses. There is really no way he could have learned it as a kid unless she taught it to him! In the movie Bert works as a one-man band, a sidewalk chalk artist, a super-chipper chimney sweep, and a kite salesman! The movie takes care to show how sucky all the jobs are, but no matter what, he manages to keep a smile on his face. It's as if someone taught him how to find the joy in hard work. Perhaps with a spoonful of sugar?! (Yes. The answer is yes.) In the very beginning, Bert predicts, "Wind's in the East/ Mist coming in/ like something is brewing/ about to begin./Can't put me finger/on what lies in store/ But I feel what's to happen all happened before." It seems vague, but really he's just being coy. It did all happen before, when Mary Poppins was HIS nanny. Bert NEVER questions Mary's magic not when she's flying, not when she's turning a cloud of smoke into a magic staircase and not even when she bends the laws of space, time, physics and reality to transport them to a magical chalk-world universe. It's all old hat to him, because he knows all of Mary's magic tricks from when he was a child...

Was There Magic in the Dead Sea Scrolls?

...Was There Magic at Qumran? Abraham Kahn Amongst the body of Qumran literature there is a small portion of textual material that seems to deal with different aspects of magical practice. These texts have sparked plentiful debate as scholars have attempted to understand the meaning of these texts, their role within the Qumran community, and how the community’s members felt about the texts. One of the key issues at hand for scholars has been trying to understand how the community reconciled its use of these texts that seemingly describe magical properties with verses in Deuteronomy that prohibit several forms of witchcraft and magic. The purpose of this paper will be to offer definitions for the term “magic” in a religious context in order to gain some context for the broader discussion of the paper, to study two Qumran manuscripts that describe practices that have been categorized to some degree as “magic,” to deliberate whether or not the issue raised by scholars is valid, and, if it is, to offer two scholarly theories proposed to explain how the community used these manuscripts in light of the biblical prohibitions based within the context of the Qumran community’s texts, practices and ideology as a whole. Scholars studying religious societies and practices have struggled to define what characterizes “magic” and to highlight what exactly separates religious practice from magical practice. The crude term itself, “magic,” has been assumed, for the most part, to describe practices...

Zombie

...A zombie (Haitian French: zombi, Haitian Creole: zonbi) is a fictional undead being created through the reanimation of a human corpse. Zombies are most commonly found in horror and fantasy genre works. The term comes from Haitian folklore, where a zombie is a dead body reanimated through various methods, most commonly magic. Modern depictions of zombies do not necessarily involve magic but often invoke science fictional methods such as radiation, mental diseases, viruses, scientific accidents, etc.[1][2] The English word "zombie" is first recorded in 1819, in a history of Brazil by the poet Robert Southey, in the form of "zombi".[3] The Oxford English Dictionary gives the origin of the word as West African, and compares it to the Kongo words nzambi (god) and zumbi (fetish). One of the first books to expose Western culture to the concept of the voodoo zombie was The Magic Island by W.B. Seabrook in 1929. This is the sensationalized account of a narrator who encounters voodoo cults in Haiti and their resurrected thralls. Time claimed that the book "introduced 'zombi' into U.S. speech".[4] Zombies have a complex literary heritage, with antecedents ranging from Richard Matheson and H. P. Lovecraft to Mary Shelley's Frankenstein drawing on European folklore of the undead. In 1932, Victor Halperin directed White Zombie, a horror film starring Bela Lugosi. Here zombies are depicted as mindless, unthinking henchmen under the spell of an evil magician. Zombies, often still using...

The Spirit Catches You Fall Down

...Baseball Magic - In the article "Baseball Magic" by George Gmelch, it talks about how players and their rituals they perform before a game. The whole idea is to show how two different cultures, American Baseball and the Trobriand Islanders both have the same idea same idea. That idea being that if you change, your way of doing something it ultimately ruin you. Keeping things the same will keep your luck the same. The article talks about rituals, how Dennis Grossini, a Detroit Tiger pitcher, would do everything the same on game day. Dennis would wake up at the same time, eat lunch at the same time, in fact he would eat the same lunch. All this was to win the game, he think that if he lives every day the same way he did the day he won. That the outcome will always be the same. Some may think that this is just stupid, but in reality it may work. By touching your hat or shirt, it relines your hand to where it was when you threw the strike. A ritual for me that in high school before we went on stage to do a play we would all have to jump up and hit the sign above the backstage door. The article also talks about taboo, to where players cannot say a certain word or it will break the luck of another player. The one mentioned in the book is when people say "no-hitter" around the pitcher, it there for makes him throw horrible from then on. In theater people say "break a leg" instead of good luck. Taboo for me is every time I slam on breaks or almost get in a wreck. I say the words "we're...

Dracontias

... Occasionally, one encounters persons calling themselves “theoretical magicians” and thus meaning that they subscribe to the magical paradigms without practising magic. But, theoretical magic is a contradiction. Magic is practice, action. Eugenio Trias, professor in philosophy, have pointed out that the word magic can be traced back to the same root as make (Swedish makt meaning ‘power’, German machen meaning ‘do’ or ‘make’). Magic is a creative, creating force through which the magician enables his visions through action. This is echoed in the Draconian magical formula: Visio, Vires, Actio: Vision, Force, Action. Practising magic, however, is an art that demands dedication, patience and discipline. A process of ennobling is demanded to develop the magical abilities, a path of initiation, an alchemy in which vision and action are united into a whole. The Magical Week on Gotland is the most important magical highlight of the year, where we unite magical work with inspiring social activities and there will be a unique opportunity to work magically in depth together with others in Dragon Rouge. The Magical Week 2007 we will focus on Visio Vires Actio – The Draconian Alchemy and we will ennoble our magical abilities during intensive magical operations. HDHM! Jenny Curran: You don't wanna marry me. Forrest Gump: Why don't you love me, Jenny? I'm not a smart man, but I know what love is. Forrest Gump: My momma always said, "Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." By chance he was a college football star. By chance he was a ping pong champion, a Vietnam War hero, a shrimp boat Captain phenom because a hurricane took out every other boat in the area. This made for an amazing adventure through the life of someone who was so pure, so innocent, he couldn't hurt a fly. * It's the ultimate underdog story.  Here we have this simple-minded character who was born with this inescapable handicap of sorts, and he manages to get the cute (but troubled) girl, become an All Star college athlete, attain medals of valor, become an international ping pong star of all things, turn a dream into a multimillion dollar business, become a pop culture icon by simply just running, and then he meets his child who happens to be the smartest boy in his class.  Wow. * It's a story of Americana.  The film is a virtual history lesson of our country, at least in the broad strokes.  We see our country evolve through the eyes of this character.  We are implanted into historical and pop culture moments through the eyes of this character...

Chiristmas Through Anthropoloy

...Once a year a society that anthropologists have been studying for years, celebrates a tree ritual on a day in late December, but the preparations begin long before that. At the beginning of that month, there is some sort of “tree-trade” that enters the market. People go into the forest, cut down trees and sell them to other people who buy them for the purpose of placing them in their homes! Each head of the household, usually the father, purchases the tree, straps it onto the roof of his car and brings it inside the house to display in his living room. The tree is then decorated with magic crystals and round glass decorations. Every member of the family participates in preparing the tree. On the top of the tree stands an angel which is believed to be watching over the house during this sacred time. The tree is ready for the day of the ritual weeks in advance and simply sits on display in the house attracting random strangers outside to stop and look at this within the house. When the day of the ritual arrives, all of the family members gather together in the room with the tree. The festivities begin the night before at nightfall. The mother cooked a huge meal with the finest foods the family can afford. In front of the big, fancy tree are multiple boxes covered in colorful paper. When everything is ready, the family gathers around the tree to open these boxes. Each box contains something new and shiny, which is brought by the chimney wizard. A fat man in a red robe and hat...

(I.2.110-116) Prospero says that Antonio was so power hungry that he was even willing to pay Alonso, which undoubtedly provides evidence he was desperate for it. We must also remember however, that beneath the more apparent face of the power-hungry Antonio is how it manifested in the first place. Antonio, at one point, may have not been tainted by contemptuous lust for political and military superiority since Prospero trusted him in the beginning. Whenever SeaWorld or Universal raises their prices in order to say, “Hey look, we’re as good as Disney,” it forces Disney to raise theirs so they stay atop the perceived value pyramid. Disney has been steadily increasing pricing at the parks and yet there’s still room to increase pricing further. Despite higher prices, consumers are still flocking to the Disney theme parks making it inelastic because change in price is accompanied by a small amount of change in quantity demanded. In other words, in terms of change in quantity demanded, families are not sufficiently sensitive to the price increase to the detriment of Disney's total revenues.
