...reading binary. Using a 7-segment display we are able to achieve that by converting the BCD value into a 7 bit output. The 7-segment display has 7 LEDs and a certain amount of voltage triggers each of the 7 segments to produce a decimal number. Procedure 1. Create a truth table for your 4 bit input and the corresponding output necessary to light the proper segments of the display. For example, if the input is represented by WXYZ and the output is identified as ABCDEFG then if the input is 0000, all outer LEDs should be lit while the middle LED should be off. Once you create the rows in a truth table for the other 9 combinations, find the function for each segment. 2. Depending on whether you are dealing with more 0s or 1s, choose NAND or AND gates to implement each segment function. 3. Wire the input DIP switches to the decoder input. Note that you have 2 3x8 decoders. You will need to use the inputs and enable lines to combine them in order to implement these 7 functions. 4. Wire the NAND or AND gates to the proper outputs of the decoders in order to implement the functions for each segment. 5. Wire the outputs of the gates to the proper pin on the 7-segment display (refer to the datasheet for the 7-segment display you are using and remember to use a resistor instead of a jumper. 6. Attach 5V to both common anode pins of your 7-segment display (refer to the datasheet for the 7-segment display you are using). 7. Demonstrate number 0-9...

...pursue an opportunity and to make a profit (Scarborough, 2012). 7-Eleven is a very successful brand and franchise that is known worldwide. As a frequent patron of this established, an opportunity has been identified to directly compete with 7-Eleven. As a competitor in the convenience store market the establishment would be called G’s Stop N’ Go. As a direct competitor, research is necessary to understand the strengths and weaknesses of 7-Eleven to be able to compete and make effective decisions. From state to state and city to city 7-Eleven’s can be found everywhere are very visible and known. But based on the companies SWOT analysis a weakness that has been identified was the hacking of ATM machines that negatively impacted consumers’ loyalty (7-Eleven, Inc., 2013). FBI has investigated the case and stated that a Citibank server that processes ATM withdrawals at 7-Eleven convenience stores had been breached. ATMs hackings at 7-Eleven stores reflects the company's weak application security system (7-Eleven, Inc., 2013). To take advantage of this weakness, G’s Stop N’ Go would have industry proven application security system that are secure and up-to-date. That way customers can make purchases and use the ATM to make transaction without fear of hacking. Next G’s Stop N’ Go must have a wide selection of products at different price points to serve a wide range of customers. Just like how a consumer can go into an 7-Eleven and make a quick purchase of what he or she is looking...

...Common Lab Tasks In each lab, you will follow a series of step-by-step instructions designed to help you explore the environment and gather the information you need to successfully complete the deliverables. In each lab, you will perform identical steps, such as opening the virtual lab, logging in to another server, taking screen captures, and transferring files to your local computer. To avoid repeating steps in the lab itself, those common steps have been collected in this file. You may refer to this document at any time during your lab session. Though you may not be required to perform each of these steps in every lab, the Common Lab Steps are listed in the order that you are most likely to encounter them. As you review this list, you should pay attention to the logic and flow of the lab. This will help you to perform the lab procedures more quickly and more accurately. Note: The other virtual machines used in this environment may require as long as 10 minutes to complete their initialization processes (wake-up sequences) and load all required software. If you receive a connection error message, wait at least one minute before clicking on the Remote Desktop Connection icon to retry the connection. Virtual Lab Environment You will use the virtual lab environment to complete the learning activities in this lab manual. Note: The virtual lab environment, also called the Virtual Security Cloud Lab (VSCL) requires Java, Adobe Flash, and a compatible Web browser. The list...
