...History Once upon a time, by the Nokianvirta river… In 1865, mining engineer Fredrik Idestam sets up his first wood pulp mill at the Tammerkoski Rapids in south-western Finland. A few years later he opens a second mill on the banks of the Nokianvirta river, which inspires him to name his company Nokia Ab in 1871. How apt that Nokia begins by making paper – one of the most influential communications technologies in history. The galoshes revolution OK, so it’s not exactly a revolution. But in 1898, Eduard Polón founds Finnish Rubber Works, which later becomes Nokia’s rubber business, making everything from galoshes to tyres. Nokia rubber boots become a bona fide design classic, still on sale to this day – though we no longer make them. Electronics go boom In 1912, Arvid Wickström sets up Finnish Cable Works, the foundation of Nokia’s cable and electronics business. By the 1960s, Finnish Cable Works – already working closely with Nokia Ab and Finnish Rubber Works – starts branching out into electronics. In 1962, it makes its first electronic device in-house: a pulse analyser for use in nuclear power plants. In 1963, it starts developing radio telephones for the army and emergency services – Nokia’s first foray into telecommunications. In time, the company’s MikroMikko becomes the best known computer brand in Finland. And by 1987, Nokia is the third largest TV manufacturer in Europe. Three become one Having been jointly owned since 1922, Nokia Ab, Finnish Cable Works...

...How critical is User Generated Content for customer satisfaction in accommodation aggregator sites? 34.125 STUs max. Now 25111 + 1600 (2 charts) Introduction and problem formulation: The Internet has grown to be one of the most effective means for tourists to seek information in the planning process of their vacation. Tourists find themselves navigating through an immense amount of information that could be relevant for the planning, which can be experienced as being overwhelming for prospect travellers (Pan and Fesenmaier 2006). In this scenario, aggregator sites enable users to search for content specific for their area of interest, gathering the information needed under a single roof and functioning as an intermediary between prospect travellers and the travel industry. Because of the low barriers of entry, the proliferation of information aggregator sites has created a strong competitive environment, where sites are competing for the attention of customers on the online space. Online customers are characterized as having a short attention span, seeking information on multiple sites, and having a low barrier to switching to alternative sites (Chaffey, 2009). User satisfaction is then essential for the success of an aggregator site, in order to retain customers and to encourage repeated visits to the sites. It is the aim of this paper (mini-project?) to explore the critical success factors for customer satisfaction of accommodation aggregator sites. Accommodation aggregator...

...1. Introduction Laos has undertaken substantial trade reforms and liberalization in recent decades under the overall direction of the New Economic Mechanism (NEM). The process was initiated in mid-1980s when the country made efforts to transform the national economy from a centrally planned to a market-oriented one. Laos is making significant progress in moving forward its trade policy reforms and in pursuing a development strategy that recognizes openness to trade as the key engine for growth and poverty alleviation. To a large extent, Laos’ trade policy is now shaped by trade agreements, either at bilateral regional or multilateral fora. To date, Laos has also signed trade agreements with 18 countries, including: Vietnam; China; Cambodia; Burma; Thailand; North Korea; Philippines; Mongolia; Indonesia; Malaysia; Bulgaria; Russia; India; Belarus; Argentina; the United States; Kuwait and Turkey, the most recent and significant one is the bilateral agreement with the US by which Laos accords Normal Trade Relations (NTRs). At the regional level, Laos is participating in the ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA) and undertaking commitments under the Common Effective Preferential Tariffs (CEPT) scheme. It is also engaging in free trade area (FTA) negotiations with ASEAN-dialogues partners: China, Republic of Korea, Japan, India, and Australia and New Zealand together as Closer Economic Relation (CER). Apart from that, Laos benefits from the Asia Pacific Trade Agreement (APTA) which was formerly...

This thesis contains no material which has been accepted for the award of any other degree or diploma in any university. Signed 25/03/2011 2 ABSTRACT The rising market penetration of the mobile phone and rapid increase in wireless technology represent significant opportunities for advertisers to reach consumers. Mobile phone advertising has emerged as one of the fastest growing advertising mediums in recent times, and this rise is being led by Short Message Service (SMS) advertising. Despite the growing number of worldwide companies adopting SMS advertising, very little is understood about consumer reactions to this medium. In particular, little academic research has been conducted on consumers’ acceptance of this medium and their behavioural responses to advertising messages. In addition, researchers have thus far been unable to identify the impact of culture on acceptance and response to SMS advertising. This research aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and advertising practice by testing...

...1. Was linking the software selection process to the overall supplier management strategy appropriate? That was appropriate to do that because the process will bring in the requirement and capabilities necessary so that the company could recognize the strategic vision. Also, linking the software process may take more time than usual but " when your strategy is deep and far reaching, what you gain by your calculations is much. So you can win before you fight." Besides that, software selection process was necessary to build the necessary trust, enthusiasm and engagement in SMS. That process seemed to be a good chance that to get the organization to "think out of the box" and considered as a good foundation to start getting everyone think about procurement differently. Overall, the process played a key role in the company's strategy. They had more time to think and interact with the problem which may incur. Other than that, they can recognize their need and be able to make some changes or improvement. As working on the process, they understand the criteria of the software provider they need for their strategy. The software selection seems to be efficient and appropriate the the overall supplier management. 2. Did all the steps the team took during the selection process add value to their decision? Every step which the team had done during the selection did add a certain value to their decision. As the first step, they formed a project team by handpick influential...

It is the precious gift of Dr Manmohan Singh to the people of India at a time when the country was in the grip of unprecedented economic crisis and political turmoil. One of the areas in which this policy focused on was on increasing India’s export.
