King Duncan was tortured and brutally murdered in his sleep at the Thane of Cawdor’s castle around 3 am in the morning. The noble king had also been gutted feverously before being killed presumably by his two sons Malcom and Donalbain who both fled the crime scene right after the murder.
King Duncan was sleeping in his bed chamber at Macbeth’s castle when the murder occurred. He died from laceration around his neck and from multiple stab wounds to the chest as well as a deep cut to his abdomen. His body was also found with 4 of his fingers cut off with two of his thumbs partially cut open and left hanging from the bones. This led investigators to speculate that the great King was tortured before being murdered. His …show more content…
My beloved cousin who hath been murdered with injustice! It breaks my heart to think of this atrocity!” said a mourning Macbeth who cried alongside his also mourning wife, Lady Macbeth that had fainted earlier on hearing about the awful news.
Macbeth accused the king’s two guardsmen of committing the crime for not only were they found to be drunk and partially insensible, but they were also found with two daggers covered in the King’s blood. The two guards were later executed by Macbeth who claimed to be in a fit of anger and fury upon hearing about the news. “The level of my violent love outruns the reason behind it,” said Macbeth after executing the two guards. “No man’s life was to be trusted with those treacherous fiends! They were guilty as charged and they deserved to have punishment handed to them,” decreed a clearly distraught Lennox regarding the two guards. However, Macduff claimed that it was actually Malcolm and Donalbain, the two sons of King Duncan, who had killed their own father. Macduff said that there could be no other satiable reason for the departure of the two sons. The nobles also said that the two sons expressed a lack of emotion regarding the news of their father’s death, which was mostly likely due to the fact that they were the ones to commit the
