...The title is A DANGEROUS LIFE and if that title seems to be reminiscent of the title of Peter Weir's popular YEAR OF LIVING DANGEROUSLY, it may not be just a coincidence. I suppose the title could refer to it being dangerous for people that Ferdinand Marcos was alive and in power, or it could refer to fictional newsman Tony O'Neil's (played by Gary Busey) occasionally endangered existence covering dramatic events in the Philippines from the death of Ninoy Aquino to the fall of Marcos and the presidency of Ninoy's widow Corazon. Even if the title seems a little crass, the three-part, nearly six-hour mini-series delivers as a dramatic political story and at the same time as an historical chronicle. Because the title and subject matter conjure memories of YEAR OF LIVING DANGEROUSLY, A DANGEROUS LIFE invites comparison of the two films. The Weir film had one charismatic, enigmatic character, Billy Kwan. A DANGEROUS LIFE has no particularly fascinating character in a leading role. The main characters are involved in a nominal but dull love triangle. Who cares? In virtually every other regard, A DANGEROUS LIFE is a model for the political chronicle. It tells a piece of history most of us remember and tells in a dramatic and engrossing way a detailed history of the fall of Marcos. And it seems even more immediate for the extensive use of television news videotape. Actually for interest value, the lead parts are eclipsed by that of Imelda Marcos (played by Tessie Tomas). Most people...

Sentence- The drunk driver ahead of us veered into different lanes every few minutes. Connections The book is set in a futuristic time period in Chicago. Considering the post-war landscape, there are very few people and the plants that do grow outside of the faction community are withering. The text states from Tris's point of view that " The world beyond ours is full of roads and dark buildings and collapsing power lines. There is no life in it, as far as I can see; no movement, no sound but the wind and my own footsteps. It's like the landscape is an uninterrupted sentence, one side dangling in the air, unfinished, and the other, a completely different subject ." (Roth, 101). The setting of Allegiant reminds me of another book I read: Maze Runner. It reminds me of Maze Runner by James Dashner because both stories are during a futuristic time period after disaster struck leaving the cities in shambles. Also from what I can recall, both novels have similar descriptions of the world outside of theirs. The only major difference between the setting is that in James Dashner's book the city is not only in shambles but is scorching hot compared to Allegiant's setting. Science Fiction...

...POSCI2013 Camarse, Rizza Joy B. September 25, 2014 BPA 1-1 Dean Sanjay P. Claudio A Dangerous Life: A Film Review A film by Robert Markowitz A Dangerous Life is a docu-drama 1988 English-language Australian film. It refers to the last years of the Philippines under Ferdinand Marcos' rule, from the assassination of Benigno Aquino, Jr. in 1983 to the People Power EDSA Revolution in 1986. The film revolves on American TV journalist Tony O'Neil (Gary Busey), who finds himself in the middle of key events that lead to the downfall of the Marcos regime and the rise of Cory Aquino. The cinematography of the film is used by having fictional characters (like Tony O’ Neil and other media fellowmen) in order to get the inside story in politics and background story of each politician. I am quite happy with the treatment of the director on how he delivered the message of each side of the stories to the audiences. To be honest, I had a lot of realizations, frustrations, comments, and feels while watching the film. It took me two seating because I needed to do a little research each time a scene would flash that I may not be familiar with. I am not saying that I completely agree on the film. There were scenes that showed too much highlight, destroying the truth or making the real story fade away. Nevertheless, I am glad that this film enlightened me as well as knowledge regarding our Philippine government and politicians. Let me tackle the three categories combined my reaction...

The two stories “The Lottery” and “The Most Dangerous Game” both exemplify characteristics of selfishness, violence and cruelty throughout different scenarios. Both stories are ones which could happen in today’s world, they may not be the most common situations, but they are very much possible. ...is all for the mission to Mars, however it is dangerous to all mankind. I believe a trip to Mars is physically dangerous and societally terrifying, therefore the manned mission to Mars is bad idea. Unmistakably, the idea of sending people to Mars is physically dangerous for them. First, the mission would take a turn for the worst when it comes to keeping the astronauts alive. For example, the temperature is too cold to sustain human life on Mars, being nearly -61 degrees Fahrenheit. Since it is so cold and our bodies have not adapted to the Mars environment, it would be very difficult to survive. Second, being away from Earth’s gravity would physically hurt the astronaut. For instance, your bones and muscles get weaker and your body produces less blood. Since we are not made to be in zero gravity for...

...the representation and possibly influenced by the media, it is therefore essential to consider the messages rooted in this films or television within the context of popular culture. The movies Dangerous Minds and Dead Poet Society opens up issues such as identity and stereotyping. Therefore, in this paper I will be looking at the juxtaposed concept of identity and representation using the school films Dangerous minds and Dead Poet Society. Dangerous Minds vs. Dead Poet Society The Dangerous minds film opens up with a preview of an inner city impoverished neighbourhood where destitution and drug deals is an everyday affairs. On the other hand, Dead poet’s society opens up the rich urban setting, depicting the power of uniqueness and a high level of discipline. ...Distracted Driving Sometimes in life “sorry” can become a magic word and fix everything, then there are times that saying “sorry” undoes nothing. Will saying “sorry” help when you crash your parent’s car, because you are too busy looking at your phone? What about when you kill someone’s child because you’re too busy talking to your friend and run a stop light? Will you say “sorry” to the kid’s parents and expect everything to be okay? Saying “sorry” cannot begin to fix some things and preventing those from happening by acting responsibly in the first place is the best you can do. I like the introduction technique with the hypothetical questions. However, you now need to transition into your thesis or central claim, and that central claim needs to come here, at the end of the intro paragraph. ...In Chapter 24 of Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, Victor Frankenstein decides to leave Geneva and its painful memories after his entire family is destroyed. After searching for the monster for months, Victor eventually runs into Robert Walton and tells him his story. At this point of the novel, Walton regains control of the narrative and continues to send letters to his sister, Margaret. He begins to tell his sister that he asked Frankenstein how to create a monster and bring it to life. To that, Victor replied “are you mad, my friend . . . or whither does your senseless curiosity lead you? Would you also create for yourself and the world a demoniacal enemy? Peace, peace! Learn my miseries, and do not seek to increase your own.” Victor’s outburst raises the question of whether or not knowledge is dangerous. Knowledge is in fact dangerous when it is either broad, or far beyond our need in life. “Such words, you may imagine, strongly excited my curiosity; but...
