...Executive Summary The following case study analysis examines the Chattanooga Ice Cream division’s recent failures in light of Stay & Shop’s recent decision to replace CIC with Sealtest in all of their Southeast Stores. It will shed a light on the dysfunctions and shortcomings of the team and their leader. A comprehensive analysis will follow and break down where CIC has failed both within the company and in the marketplace. After an examination and analysis is complete, I will offer a series of recommendations that must be made in order to bring CIC back to profitability and relevance. Introduction Chattanooga Ice Cream is in trouble. They have suffered from a lack of leadership, poor management, lack of marketplace knowledge and a dysfunctional team. Due to these reasons, they have found themselves in a position where their third-largest customer, Stay & Shop, has decided to replace them with the Sealtest line in all of their southeast region supermarkets within the next 90 days. This decision has caused the company, and their leader, Charlie Moore, to go into panic mode in an attempt to keep the business afloat, while also increasing revenue and expanding the product line while facing external stressors that include the competition introducing premium and “mix-in” flavors and the sagging consumption of ice cream. The Issues and Problems After a lengthy review of the case study, I have come to recognize three distinct problems that CIC faces. They have an unclear...

...Socialisation &Feral Children Summary In this lecture we learned about socialisation and Wild or Feral children. The class started off with a question asking what we believed feral children were and what we thought socialisation consisted of. It seemed apparent that about half of the class were aware of what feral children were with the majority having an idea of what socialisation is. To explain to the class fully we were more than told what the meaning was but also shown videos to show the extent of the meaning. We learned that feral children we raised with no or minimal human interaction which resulted in them growing up basically alienated from human culture or lacking in socialisation skills. The video clips we watched showed harrowing examples of stories about feral children. For instance Oxana a girl from the Ukraine who lived for years with a pack of wild dog, the video clip showed her on all fours acting like a dog. We also learned of girl called Genie who was held captive alone in a dark room from the age of 1 to 13 by her father. She rarely saw other human beings and was spoon fed soft food which she could barely survive on. When she was discovered she could not walk, talk or stand up and was not toilet trained. We then discussed how once she was rescued how she struggled to adapt to socialisation and now lives in sheltered accommodation. There were numerous other examples given with the authenticity of some open to debate but all came back to the same point...

...Chapters 1 & 2: Society History 1. The Worker is thorough, and concise in her writing of the report history. The client revealed a lot to the worker, and was quite willing to do so, which indicates some level of trust and comfort with the worker, regardless if the client was “flat”. 2. The Worker, in my opinion makes little if any assumptions, and any that are made are clear and backed up by a quote from the client or based on facts relayed by the client, and are reasonable in nature. All of her writings are as stated by the client or based on the client’s story. 3. Kate is depressed. She has lost interest in the things that previously used to give her pleasure. She has pulled away from friends, and the church choir, since the passing of her mother 2 years prior, stating not having the energy to add it to the list of things to do. Kate does not recognize the positives in the things she has endured and commanded in her life. It seems to me that she has always been wrapped up in her mom’s problems/life, all of her life, since the passing of her father, and as a result, she has forgotten about Kate! She no longer has her mom to worry about, and it is my opinion that she has lost a big part of who she was, and is depressed due to that as the root problem. 4. Kate has always had to take control or make decisions on behalf of her mother, from the young age of 6 years old, when at that time her father passed away. This has been her identity from this very young...

...Brooke Sandoval Paralegal 110 Professor Castle November 20, 2014 Research Project/Case Summary For this research project which was to find a statute from the Illinois criminal code and find cases that deal with the select statute that we chose. The statute that I chose to find cases on and write about is retail theft. The reason I chose retail theft is because retail theft happens a lot and sometimes it even happens right in front of our eyes. Sometimes we don’t even catch people who commit retail theft. Therefore, the cases I chose to write about are cases that surround the statute of retail theft. The first case I chose is The People v. Shawn Moore, 2014 WL 4629606 (Ill.App. 3 Dist.) In this case, the defendant Shawn Moore was charged with retail theft after the incident that occurred on March 4, 2012. The defendant took the merchandise from Home Depot intending to deprive the business permanently of that item. They charged him with a Class 4 felony...

...A Summary of “Crossing the Chasm” By Jonathan S. Linowes, Parker Hill Technology Geoffrey A. Moore, Crossing the Chasm, Marketing and Selling High-Tech Products to Mainstream Customer (revised edition), HarperCollins Publishers, New York, 1999 The high-tech marketing guru (and principle of The Chasm Group marketing consultants), Geoffrey Moore offers time tested insights into the problems and dangers facing growing software companies, and a blueprint for survival. This classic text (first published in 1991) is widely accepted as “the bible for bringing cutting-edge products to progressively larger markets.” For the benefit of the reader, while I do not presume to do justice to Moore's book, I attempt to summarize key points here: !" market is defined as A #"a set of actual or potential customers #"for a given set of products or services #"who have a common set of needs or wants, and #"who reference each other when making a buying decision The final point may be the least intuitive, but Moore says, "the notion that part of what defines a high-tech market is the tendency of its members to reference each other when making buying decisions-- is absolutely key to successful high-tech marketing." Many business plans are based on a traditional Technology Adoption Life Cycle, a smooth bell curve of high tech customers, progressing from Innovators, Early Adopters, Early Majority, Late Majority, and finally Laggards. In turn, this model becomes the foundation for...

...Christian to go out to one of the aircraft and take a look at a specific job. He needed to go into the flight deck and inspect a communication cord to make sure it functioned and all audio was present. Mike had instructed Christian that if there was a problem present to fix it and then sign off the job as completed. The exact job description said that the cord did not provide any audio to the pilot’s headsets. It is part of our everyday procedures when we work on any job to attempt to duplicate the problem prior to any maintenance taking place. Upon either not duplicating the problem or performing maintenance, the job gets signed off in the maintenance forms for the applicable aircraft and then on CAMS. CAMS is the computer program that keeps track of all maintenance that takes place on all of the aircraft on the flight line. Christian went out to the aircraft and duplicated the malfunction. He signed off the completed job in the aircraft forms, but failed to do so in the CAMS computer program. Mike had noticed that when he printed out a summary...

Executive Summary This paper serves as an addendum to the previously existing Transit Oriented Development in the Triangle Region report compiled by the Triangle J Council of Governments. It analyzes the impacts of light rail transit in regions that are comparable to the Triangle Region (as defined by the region surrounding Duke to NC State to UNC). This study focuses on the effects of Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) as a result of light rail implementation. Additionally, we examine how light rail impacts the following sub-categories: environment, economic, and health indices. These indices shape our assessment of whether or not light rail is a worthwhile investment in the Triangle Region. In order to enable politicians to make the best decisions regarding light rail, we provide a comprehensive analysis of peer corridors that are similar to the Triangle Region. Based on population growth projections for the Triangle Region, we find it necessary to offset the corresponding increases in traffic rates and the...

...Bottling Company Case Study | MAT 300: StatisticsProfessor: Dr. Negash Begashaw September 2, 2014 | Maggie L. Moore | Customers have begun to complain that the bottles of Lonice’s Soda contain less than the advertised sixteen ounces of soda. Today I asked my employees to randomly pull thirty bottles off the lines at random from all the shifts at the Lonice’s bottling plant. After asking them to measure the amount of soda in each bottle we came up with the following data. (See attached spread sheet). To calculate the mean, median and standard deviation for the ounces in the bottles I first imported the data in excel. After importing the data I use the Data analysis function where I choose descriptive statistics. Once choosing descriptive statistics I clicked ok and input my data range. Afterward I selected summary statistics and press OK. The forwarding data was provided; the mean equaling 14.87, median equaling 14.8, standard deviation equaling 0.550. To construct a ninety-five confidence interval for the ounces in the bottles I use the following information. X equal to 14.87 which is the mean of the data from the bottles, n equal to 30, because of the amount of bottles we use, standard deviation equals zero point five five zero which was calculate with the data from the bottles. I use the formula [ ] which gave me the lower limit of 14.673 and an upper limit of 15.067. Finally I conducted a hypothesis test to verify if the claim that a bottle...

This report includes information on the different ways to save money, and be more helpful in the community. There are plenty of tax credits that our government has been giving out to the companies that have adopted this method. Not to mention more business opportunity because customers like companies that care about their environment, and community. We appreciate the opportunity, and time you have given us. We look forward in working with you in this upcoming project, and many more in the future. With nine years in the company, five years as a group leader, I have seen many good team members choose to leave Toyota and find employment elsewhere. I am confident that I have a solution that will help reduce the amount of voluntary terminations by our full time Toyota employees and our Aerotek variable workforce. My proposal, which I have enclosed for your review, contains research, factual data, statistics, and educated opinions on how to resolve the crisis we face on the floor. I look forward to the opportunity to meet with you to discuss these proposed improvements. N. ...Introduction Erikson has always been referred to in the light of emphasising on the work of Freud, as well as being critiqued on his work with making comparison to Sigmund Freud’s work as well. With Freud introducing the psychoanalytical theory and Erikson bringing about the stages of psychosocial developments, theorists would often elaborate on which theory would define one’s life best, and so therefore it remained a constant comparison made between Freud and Erikson. With the quote given as the assignment topic it clearly defines why Erikson had described himself as “a small man on the shoulders of a giant”, simply because he had big shoes to fill, and that being the work of Sigmund Freud, his teacher. 1. Four main ways Erikson extended Freud’s theory According to Engler, B. (2013) the first way in which Erikson extended Freud’s theory is whereby he had improved our understanding of the ego, showing that how the emergence out of the historical, genetic and cultural context of individuals helps the ego become a good problem solver as well. Secondly, he emphasised on Freud’s stages of development making strong social gestures towards it, however there was no clear statement of Erikson’s comments being made towards Freud’s work. Thirdly he extended our understanding of development by creating additional stages, making it the eight stages of psychosocial development placing prominence on stages from an individual’s infancy to old age. And lastly Erikson had discovered the...
