Lose your Mother “A Journey Along The Atlantic Slave Route “by Saidiya Hartman. Hartman are retracing the ghost and routes of the Atlantic slave trade. Ghana is the original country for her trade because her families are originally from Ghana. In her describing how it must have be like for her great grandparents as a slave. She has very little knowledge about the slave in her family because her family refuse to tell her anything about the slave trade for Africa. She also described her life in the book, how it was like for her growing up. Hartman stated the reason behand her name and how her mother came up with that name. While she was in school she was doing about slave, she decided to re trace her family slave routs from African. She spoke about her grandparents who refuse to talk about slavery and what it was like for them. Everyone is telling her to stop worrying about the slave because she became obsess with finding out more about the slave trade. She went to Ghana to do research about the slave routs, which was originally from Ghana, everyone she came encounter with trying to avoid the subject because no one really wants to talk about the slave trade, no one wants to be remembering the African slave trade. No one really talks to her directly about slavery, even her father tries to avoid the subject. Hartman felt like she lost connecting with her ancestor. She tittle the book Lose Your Mother because she felt like she was losing her culture, her country, and her languages, because she doesn’t know much about Ghana. She wants to reconnect with her life back in Ghana. When she first arrive in Ghana people look at her as a stranger, because for her I wasn’t easy to blend in with the people in Ghana.
