...My time spent at the Campus School has flown by. This clinical experience has been so informative and transformative for me. I have been able to gain so much knowledge, insight, and most importantly, build relationships during my time at the Campus School. When I first arrived at the Campus School I was a little taken back. I was informed that it was a pediatric population that was pretty severe. Other than that, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I arrived and found a population that was medically complex, had a lot of equipment needs, and had large care teams to help support the students and their families. All of the students have developmental delays, are non-verbal and various levels of cognition. I was nervous to start working with this population, but I was excited for the challenge....

...Personal Reflection on the Self Paper 1 Personal Reflection on the Self Paper By Joe Everett April 21, 2014 University of Phoenix Personal Reflection on the Self Paper 2 The study of one’s self is a part of social psychology. A person to person in social psychology is not the same as self, now if you asked someone to identify what is self their response will be different all the time because every person will tell you a different response. However, even with all the different responses it does not make any of the answer wrong, it has to do with the person’s perspective that determines what they feel is self, it is because of this we have to wonder how many self’s are we dealing with. If we asked a person that question, they might answer that more than one exists. With this kind of response it is correct because we have to see the inner self, interpersonal self, body self, and the social self. What is considered us or yourself is self-recognized and self identifies; however, what all of this means is that other peoples are not going to see you the same way. There are a couple different theories that deals with such effect and the illusion of transparency. There is what is called a spotlight effect, and this is when a person believes that everyone is looking at them, they think that everyone’s focusing all their attention on how one’s they look or even behavior like, but in reality not one is really paying attention...

...2014 Life Event: The significant, uplifting, positive experience/event from my life would be graduating high school. Explanation: Graduating high school was a challenge for me. I had my son half way through my junior year in high school. I continued high school after having my son but did my school work from home for the second half of my junior year. I would turn in my work weekly to the school counselor. I then attended high school full time my senior year. I was completely responsible for my son as his father wasn't around. It was probably the hardest thing I have done in my life. Sometimes running on only hours of sleep I would force myself to get up, walk my son to daycare and go to school. I had to work hard to make sure he had everything he needed and still try to focus on school work. I graduated with honors. Reflection: Graduating high school and being able to walk across that stage holding my son made me feel very proud of myself. I felt like I could and would make it in this big world. It was a very special moment in my life. At one point I didn't think I would make it and some others didn't as well but I showed my self and everyone that I did it! Life Event: The significant, uplifting, positive experience/event from my life would be getting married to my husband. Explanation: Getting married to my husband was significant to me because we had to overcome some major road bumps. My husband was previously married and has 3 children from this...

...Gibbs Reflective Assignment On Non-Verbal Communication With A Patient With Demenita Introduction This assignment is a reflective account of my first experience when assisting a patient to eat lunch. For the purpose of this assignment I will refer to this patient as Mrs C to maintain confidentiality and comply with the NMC code (2008). It will discuss the importance of non-verbal communication when providing effective nursing care to the elderly. Description Thoughts and Feelings Evaluation I felt this first experience was very rewarding and a big learning curve for me in caring for others. I was delighted that I had been able to support Mrs C to eat nearly all of her meal which she clearly enjoyed. The ‘protected mealtime’ policy ensured that I had time to dedicate to assist her and as she did not have the ability to feed herself, without my help she would have eaten very little or nothing at all. In order to communicate with Mrs C, I modified the usual rules of communication. I did not speak to Mrs C in an inappropriate way or use elder talk which may have damaged her self esteem and confidence (Argle 1994). I talked to her as I would address any adult but put more emphasis on non-verbal communication which according to Caris Verhallen (1999) is the main way in which humans communicate, in order for her to receive my message, extract the meaning and give me feedback. By holding Mrs C’ gaze I was maintaining communication and encouraging engagement and interaction...

...grade classroom of a primary school in a suburb of Copenhagen. The students come from primarily white, middle class backgrounds, and the class is entirely ethnically Danish. I use my time in the practicum to prompt students’ self-reflection in an examination of their knowledge and experiences with privilege. I have employed several hands on activities to help students visualize and contextualize the privilege that exists within a seemingly homogenous class. It is a crisp 40 degrees Fahrenheit in the middle of an outdoor quad, with 18 students, one teacher, and me. Students are participating in an activity where they step up or step back if they agree with a personal statement that I read from...

...My Reflective Journal Date: 15th April 2014 Time: 9.15am Setting: Training Room Subject: Reflection of My 1st Practicum. * Objective description of an experience. The practicum month was a hectic but wonderful experience for me. I settled my practicum issues in the morning while having teaching duties in the afternoon to fulfil and night classes to attend for my diploma too. On top of that, I had to prepare for my Parent Teacher Conference at the end of the month. I have piles of paperwork to prepare and clear in terms of my practicum and my portfolios for my 28 children. Three things I learnt during the practicum period is the importance of knowing how to handle stress,, the true meaning of the words, passion and patience, and the pressure of being an early childhood educator. * Reflections of my experience: * The importance of knowing how to handle stress. I was stressed out during this period as I felt that I didn’t have enough time, energy and hands to complete so many things at the same time. I was on the verge of breaking down at certain time during that period. Luckily for me, I had supportive family, friends and workmates. They helped me as much as they can and also gave me motivation and encouragement to push on no matter how demoralised or tired I feel. To complicated things, one of my family members was hospitalised during this period due to a viral infection. I had to rush to hospital every night if I dun have any night class. I was so tired that I could...

...-1- Session Reflection Module 1 Student No. 1361995 Background Chloe is a 15 year old female, who was referred to our service following a history of self-harm, low mood, and poor school attendance. An earlier assessment carried out via RCADS, SDQ’S and interview, revealed substantially high levels of Depression, Panic and Separation anxiety. Chloe resides with Mother, twin sister and older brother in a deprived borough of East London. Mum’s long term partner, is also actively involved in Chloe’s life, but does not live within the family home. Chloe has never had any contact with her biological father. School advise that there have been recent and historic referrals made to social care from them, around their suspicions of parental fabricated illness, none of which have been substantiated. Formulation The formulation used follows the 5 p’s principles (Dallos & Johnston,2006) which become a blueprint to identify what is going on. A predisposing factor that was identified was Chloe’s experience of Generalised Pain disorder from around 6 years old, which resulted in several months of absence from school. Despite the pain reducing at the onset of secondary school, Chloe’s attendance at school has been sporadic. Incidents of bullying and name calling, during year 8 appear to have triggered Chloe’s perpetuating negative view of self. As well as viewing ‘everyone’ as ‘untrustworthy’ and ‘out to hurt her’. Due to Chloe’s negative bias, she has become socially isolated...

At work, in interpersonal communication, we continue to receive information, to deal with new life and professional situations that require us to new knowledge and skills. Thus, to achieve success in everyday work and home pushes man to search for effective models and approaches in teaching, life-long. It has long been noted that different people have the same information, assimilate, and then reproduce in different ways. That is, individual ways of thinking associated with different styles and models of education, which are different approaches in the selection of methods of education. In an ideal situation, each student has its own individual style of learning that takes into account the mental ability, capacity of the environment, culture and other parameters. In general, the learning style - a set of unique techniques, methods, methods of teaching and learning, the approach to the organization of the mechanisms of assimilation, acquisition, storage and evocation of memory information. In 2004, a team of researchers of the University of...

...Rajiv Nair Mock Interview Reflection Paper Business 275: Portfolio & Experiential Learning November 28, 2014 Delaware Tech Rajiv Nair Mock Interview Reflection Paper Business 275: Portfolio & Experiential Learning November 28, 2014 Delaware Tech Mock Interview Reflection Paper Introduction: ------------------------------------------------- The following paper is written based of a simulated interview that I had participated in; the conditions that were placed in the interview were for me an individual interviewing for an internship opportunity. This internship opportunity encompasses tasks such as; Operations Management, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, and human resources. It is through this exposure that the individual that obtains the position will experience an overall perspective of how a business functions. The idea about this paper is created for the intended purposes of providing an honest reflection of our thoughts about the interview. During the interview, I felt a tad nervous about the camera being pointed at me, it was in the interview that I had felt a certain unease about myself. This uneasiness was not only caused by tension of a camera pointed, but underlying factors that reflected moderate anxiety. As I left the interview, I had been confident that it had gone well, but recognized some minor facial expressions that I might have had made. When I viewed the video, I had noticed the facial expressions that I had made. In the...

...A REPORT ON THE EXPERIENCE AGAINST THE OBJECTIVES SET OUT IN THE MODULE ACTION PLAN FOR 5ED004. BY KIMBERLEY WILLETTS DATE: 15/05/15 Acknowledgements I would like to thank my facilitator and the rest of the staff at my work placement for the opportunity and guidance during my placement. Introduction I undertook work experience in a primary school setting in my local area. They are a primary learning academy which gives them more freedom of the curriculum, staff pay, school hours and shape of the academic year. The school motto is ‘child-centred, learning focused’ which is evident in the ethos of the school. ‘The quality of education provided by this school is outstanding because all the major elements of the schools work are at least good’ (Ofsted, 2007, p4). The aim of placement is to gain more confidence and experience of the primary school setting and the role of teachers. See specific objectives in Appendix 1. Findings: Objective 1 (See Appendix 1) was achieved although it could do with being developed. As set out in my aims every opportunity presented to engage in group work was taken. On a few occasions I worked with children of a lower ability or children that have difficulty concentrating. This was challenging as it meant that each child needed the same amount of attention and support. To keep children engaged I communicated effectively using clear and concise language. ‘Good communication at work involves being able to relate to people from different...

...In my experience, when this team work is successfully we will build a good relationship and be a friend, for example, when I work with a multi-culture team in language school, my classmates also become my friends. Team leadership Work in a multi-culture team, the important technique is people need to respect each other, and try to understand everyone’s culture diversity (Trompenaars and Hampden-Turner, 1998, p.60-61). Also have different organizational structure to adapt different culture, so leader is important, because this person might influence this team work is successful or not (Trompenaars and Hampden-Turner, 1998, p.64-66). As a good team leader, have a correct organization can make team operation more effective, and it also depend on different culture background and team constitution, for instance, which countries are team members from (Robert, Mansour, Paul and Peter, 2002). Conclusion In recent years more people face of multi-culture work, owing to increase globalization business, so it is essential to understand different culture and how to operate and work with different background’s people. However it cannot avoid conflict and people have different opinion, but in the process respect and good communication and help members solve problems (Richard and Tim, 2009).
