Math 221, Discrete Structures Do Exercise 12.9. In your induction case, you should start with (n + 1)2 and use the result from Exercise 12.8. Do Exercise 12.10. i is divisible by 3 means that i = 3k for some integer k. You may use the fact that the sum of two expressions, each one divisible by 3, is also divisible by 3. 1 Assignment 2 1. 2. 3. 4. Study Section 12.5. Do Exercise 12.5. Do Exercise 12.14. Math 221, Discrete Structures Prove (12.16.1). There are two base cases, one for n = 1 and one for n = 2. For the induction case, there are two inductive hypotheses–one with n − 1 and one with n. You can assume both of them to prove the case for n + 1. Start with the RHS, use (12.14), then the inductive hypotheses. Prove (12.35a). The base case is n = 1. Prove (12.35b). The base case is n = 1. 5. 6. 1 Assignment 3 1. 2. Study Section 10.1. Math 221, Discrete Structures Do Exercise 10.1(a, b, c, d, e, g). For 10.1(d), you will need an implication in the body of a universal quantification. For 10.1(g), it is easiest to translate “It is not the case that” as ¬. 1 Assignment 4 1. Do Exercise 10.1(h, i, j, k, l, m). For 10.1(h) and (l), you will need an implication with the ∈ symbol. For 10.1(m), you will need to quantify with Σ with a body of 1. Do Exercise 10.3. Math...

...Introduction We found studies similar to those conducted by our group. A study done by Charters, M. & Grimes, P in December 2000 concluded that there was similarity between library usage and ethnics. A correction was found with if students worked part time or full time. Black females who lived on-camps spent more time per week in the library than white males who lived off-campus. Another study that was also similar was done by Watson, L in September 2001, which concluded that there was a difference in educational gains of students by class level, colleges, and grade point averages. There was a difference between these groups. According to the study done by our group there were many relationships between the variables that were examined. The study that was completed by our group was done to find out if there was any relationship between Sacramento City College students and their use of library material. The purpose of this study was to get a broad picture of which students used the library and if the library is helping in stopping the students from falling behind. Our study shows significant insights where other studies have represented more of a limited view. Our hypothesis is students at SCC do not have sufficient access to reserve material in the library to be a successful student. Method Participants The participants in this study were male and female students who attend Sacramento City College. There were fifty participants in this study. The students who...

...The Effects of Zoonotic Diseases Case Study #13 April 17, 2011 Zoonosis refers to an infectious disease in animals that can be transmitted to people. An animal serves as the natural reservoir for such an infectious agent, ("MedTerms," 2001). Many zoonoses, which is simply the plural meaning of zoonosis, including viruses, bacteria, and parasites can be transmitted to humans by various routes. Some of these routes consist of animal bites, vectors (i.e., insects), and animal-to-human contact (i.e., inhalation of respiratory droplets or skin-to-skin contact), (Bauman 613-14) & ("Infectious Diseases," 2009). Most emerging infections that have occurred world wide are said to be a zoonotic disease. Many of these diseases are fatal or have the potential to be fatal if not treated quickly and properly identified. An example of a zoonosis case that has the potential to arise annually is listed below: Case Study#13 “You work in a small family practice in rural VA. A man in his early 50’s comes in with a complaint of intermittent fever (102-103°F) and headache for the past two weeks. The physician examines him and takes a history. The only clinical finding is a wound about the size of a quarter on his right thumb. Axillary lymph nodes are swollen and tender. The man says he cut himself while skinning a rabbit three days ago. On the basis of these observations the physician prescribes streptomycin and asks the man to call if his symptoms don’t...

...changing trends of consumers’ payment methods and in particular cash usage in the 21st century. This essay discusses the downward trend of cash as a major payment structure and the increase in cashless transactions. We will refer to recent studies by the RBA and personal surveys and data collected and collated by this project team in this report and outlay our findings. Introduction As the demand for newer more convenient methods of payment systems increases, so to does the range of options that become available to consumers. In recent years the need to discover more convenient ways of paying for goods and services has increased and is driven by an ever-demanding consumer market. Our case objective was to find out how much reliance on cash as a payment method was for low value transactions, its usage as a payment system and the populations’ reliance on it. The main findings of this report as obtained from the recent survey, was to find out if cash does remain the most common payment option by consumers for low value transactions. The survey showed a very surprising trend between the younger and the older respondents spending habits and tendencies. Reserve Bank of Australia Survey 2007 and 2010. The Reserve Bank of Australia’s recent study in 2010, which was a follow on and update on their initial survey taken in 2007, took a cross section sample of the market and showed a downward slope of the reliance and usage of cash for high value transactions. It was shown that cash...

As you read the patient’s information: * Highlight any risk factors that might exist, existing medical conditions, present signs and symptoms or complains that the patient is suffering from. * Analyze the results of any diagnostic tests that were performed. Diagnostic tests include, physical exams, blood test, radiologic tests (x-ray, CT scans, etc.), and other functional tests. * Relate the medical treatment used to the underlying pathology. * Propose clinical management plan for the patient’s condition, and possible prognosis.
