“Dean, you aren’t going to get anywhere in life if you keep screwing up in school!”, my mother scolded. She endured barrages of countless calls from the school district in regards of my behavior in my classes, in return I would receive a nasty scolding or a beating from her. In my mother’s perspective, I understand that it’s exhausting being the mother of a teenager diagnosed with ADHD. She only wanted the best for my future, all she wanted was for me to achieve adequate grades, attend a competitive university, and have a prestigious career. My mother was confused. She knew I was intelligent, how come my report cards did not show it? Why I didn’t have the ability to allocate my focus towards school like my other family members? It’s difficult being considered as the “black sheep” within the household, it’s depressing that nobody had anything positive to say about you whenever your name was brought up. …show more content…
Hyperactivity and impulsivity may include restlessness or rude, disruptive behavior such as, blurting out answers, in addition to jumping into others conversations. Personally, I’m easily distracted by extraneous stimuli, I only have the ability to perform 50 percent of a task before I start to drift off into the abyss of ambient objects. The genetic mutation is incurable. As a matter of fact, it may be treated and managed through therapy, medication, and rigorous self motivation to cope with the disorder. If you’re lucky, there's a slim probability that you’ll grow out of
