...UNIVERSITY COUNSELING & CAREER OFFICE Research Digest Volume 1 │ Issue 1 │ April 2011 An Annual Publication of UCCO THE IMPACT OF THE ACADEMIC COMPETENCE EMPOWERMENT (ACE) PROGRAM ON THE ACADEMIC ADJUSTMENT OF FRESHMEN STUDENTS MERRIE CAROLYNE M. MATIAS, M.A., RGC ADARNA M. CIPRIANO, M.A., RGC, CCOP Guidance Counselor Institute of Arts and Sciences Guidance Counselor Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management Freshmen year in college is a period of adjustment. While it offers opportunities that go well beyond the acquisition of an academic degree, it also brings pitfalls. A student’s first year of college, for instance, is critical not only for how much students learn but also for laying the foundation on which their subsequent academic success and persistence rest. Being cognizant to the complexities that a college life may bring, the University Counseling and Career Office of the Far Eastern University, in coordination with the various departments of the institutes, facilitates the implementation of the Academic Competence and Empowerment Program (ACE) to address the needs of its growing number of student-clients. It is composed of six (6) modules designed to assist freshman students in their adjustment to college life. The program aims to help the students acquire the necessary skills and competence that would enable freshmen to meet the demands of student life at the University. The Academic Competence and Empowerment...

...Hypotheses on Attitude Formation We will first start to discuss the fourth hypothesis of the attitude-toward-the-ad-model, the independent influence hypothesis. We choose one of the “Got Milk” commercials with the famous actress Salma Hayek to confirm or contest the theory, in order to create a deeper understanding of the attitude formation model. The “Got Milk?” campaign had a great success in telling moms that milk is nutritious and healthy for their children. Milk should be an essential part of their children’s diet, because it contains a wide range of nutritive substances. In the commercial, Salma Hayek arrived home from a fancy night and realized she has no milk for the morning. So, she leaves the house on a wild chase to find some milk. All the stores she visited were either out of milk or closed. Eventually, after unavailingly trying to milk a cow herself, she finally stopped a milk truck and got her precious gallon of milk. At the end, the commercial convinced with a sense of humor as Salma slopped her glass of milk in the morning, she was fighting for the whole night. The objective of this commercial is simply to increase the sale of milk. The commercial explains that an empty refrigerator at night should be a challenge for the customer as milk is an irreplaceable beverage for breakfast. The commercial puts a finer point on what “Got milk?” means overall. Due to the chosen setting and music the commercial tends to be farcical and reminds the viewer on a cartoon...

...one of JTV’s programs, in sociolinguistics perspective. Ngaji Blusukan is a program broad casted By JTV every the Monday to Friday at 5 pm. It is a religious monologue show and some time it is broadcasted lively at night. The speaker is KH. Aad Ainurussalam who lives on Jl. Sambi Arum Tandes Manukan 23 Surabaya. I choose this program to discuss simply because it is very interesting show/program. Beside, this program does not only give the audience knowledge or information but also entertainment as well. This program also aroused the the popularity of KH. Aad Ainurussalam (people usually call him Yai Aat). Because of this program, more people know Yai Aat and the rank of this program is also rising. We can see in DVD or VCD retailers that there are many of Ngaji Blusukan or Yai Aat’s Pengajian sold there. That is why in this opportunity I want to discuss it in sociological perspective. And since it is a paper to accomplish the final assignment, hopefully I can get god mark and enjoy writing this paper. First of all I would like to write about the speaker, in this case KH. Aat Ainurussalam. KH. (KH. Means Kyai: the degree given to someone who leads Pesantre and Haji: the tittle or degree given to anyone who has done the pilgrimage) Aad Ainurussalam was born in pesantren (Islamic boarding school) environment in November 27th, 1964 in Jombang Kencong Jember, his father is KH. ...Overview [pic] Accounting Methods Builder (AMB) Overview [pic] Accounting Methods Builder (AMB) Overview This diagram shows a hierarchy of the AMB, indicating how the components fit together. The transaction objects and the sources carry transaction information into the rules defined for each component of an entry. These components, i.e. journal line type, account derivation rule, and journal entry descriptions are grouped together as a journal line definition (JLD) for a particular event. For example, you can set up a JLD for an invoice validation event, another for payment creation, and another for payment clearing. The set of rules for a particular subledger application is called the application accounting definition (AAD). The set of AADs for multiple applications is called the subledger accounting method. You can maintain multiple accounting methods. You can set up as many components as you like and use them for different accounting methods. You can set up an accounting method that creates entries in compliance with US GAAP, and another one that complies with IFRS. These two methods could share components, such as entry descriptions, because the journal entry components are modular. The accounting methods are then assigned to each ledger, which determines the rules that are applied when accounting is being generated for...
