The Financial Analyst, Treasury Finance - Risk Management and Reporting, supports Manulife's Treasury Finance Risk Management and Reporting function and will contribute in the preparation of financial and management accounting reports, risk policies compliance, trading and hedging monitoring/reporting. The incumbent will support the review and analysis of Treasury Finance initiatives relating to FX hedging activities, assist in liquidity risk management analytics and actively participate in Treasury projects. The incumbent will be liaising with Treasury Capital Project Management, Corporate Actuarial, Corporate and Investment Controllers, Derivatives Middle Office, Asset Liability Management, Variable Annuity Hedging, Treasury Operations, Corporate Tax, Corporate Law, Investments and Audit. Responsibilities: • Responsible for data gathering, data mining to support liquidity risk management analytics, including liquidity sensitivity analysis, assessment of stress testing scenarios, impact of different asset mix on liquidity, evaluation of collateral funding alternatives • Determine the impact of regulatory reforms on the company's collateral obligations and liquidity (Dodd Frank Act) • Support monthly and quarterly reporting associated with the Liquidity Risk Management Policy and FX Risk Policy • Contribute in the preparation of cash flow forecasts and FX exposure forecasts • Support the maintenance of the FX VaR model and FX model back-testing • Prepare trade requests for FX Forwards to hedge net investment in foreign operations and ensure compliance with hedge accounting requirements • Support the review and monitoring of Treasury Finance Risk Policies (Liquidity Risk Management Policy, Foreign Exchange Risk Policy), ensuring continued compliance • Provide inputs for accounting notes disclosures associated with Treasury Finance policies and initiatives • Respond to inquiries made by internal and external auditors, provide explanations/clarifications on questions raised • Assist in Treasury projects and any ad hoc analysis requests from the VP and Assistant Treasurer • Prior work experience in a Treasury environment is valuable • Understanding of Risk Management practices • Knowledge of MCCSR, RBC capital rules and regulations (preferred) • Knowledge of capital markets, Dodd-Frank rules • Experience with Financial and Hedge Accounting (IFRS, USGAAP), derivatives, hedging • Experience in management accounting and financial accounting reporting tools (Lawson, Essbase) • Database, SQL experience an asset • Working knowledge of macros, VaR methodology • Strong quantitative and analytical skills • Demonstrated strength in the use of MS-Excel, MS-Access • Team Player • Proactive • Good written and verbal communication skills • Demonstrated ability to establish effective priorities and complete assignments in a timely manner • Accuracy, attention to detail and sound judgment • Postgraduate degree in accounting or finance • Financial Accounting designation (CA, CGA, CMA) an asset • CFA/FRM designation or enrollment in the program considered an asset

Sr. Risk Analyst – James McGrath

Responsibilities will include an opportunity to review structured product offerings, non-standard investments and insurance, and third party products with embedded optionality. The incumbent will be expected to provide analytical review of the market risk exposures of these products and the development of financial valuation models for these products as required.

Responsibilities

• Quantitative risk management experience ideally in a vetting or financial modeling role (1-2 years) • Demonstrated strength in modeling derivatives using VBA, C++, MatLab and FinCAD (1-2 years) • In depth knowledge of traditional financial instruments, structured products, derivatives and related modeling techniques • Advanced degree in Mathematical Finance, Economics, CFA, MBA • Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision • Must be a proactive, motivated, self-starter • Able to work cooperatively within cross functional teams • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Able to work to short deadlines

Sr. Analyst, Credit Risk Management – Puneet Malik

Compliance & Risk Analysis, Credit Risk Management (CRM) is the middle office function for Manulife Financial. Among other activities, the function ensures to monitor and analyze General Fund invested assets' exposures, compliance against internal guidelines and fixed income analytics. Reporting to the Director, Compliance and Risk Analysis, the Senior Analyst is responsible for providing regular and ad hoc compliance reporting of General Fund fixed income portfolios, under the newly-adopted liability-driven, spread-based performance measurement methodology as defined by the General Fund Benchmarking Project (GFB) and ALM. Additionally, working with the Director, Compliance and Risk Analysis, the senior analyst will provide business requirements and subject matter expertise where needed. Downstream reporting and analysis includes senior management, ALM, portfolio managers and financial results reporting. Pursuant to this role, the incumbent will manage relationships with portfolio managers, back office, controllers, and ALM. Responsibilities • Monitor and report compliance with internal Statement of Investment Policy and Guidelines (SIP&Gs) to Front Office and senior management. • Produce the monthly compliance measurement of assigned bond, swaps, and mortgage General Fund Assets against established General Fund Segment benchmarks and in accordance with the newly-adopted liability-driven, spread-based methodology as defined by the GFB and ALM. • Provide analysis on all limit exceptions, with details relating to the cause of the exception and remediation plan. • In conjunction with the ALM and front office, advise senior management regarding Segment benchmark compliance risks: Credit Risk, Asset Mix Risk and Interest Rate Risks. • Maintain efficient communication channel with Front Office and ALM as they downstream to the compliance measurement and reporting process. Strong communication ensures the timely and effective resolution of issues, changing priorities by downstream processes, systems and or job functions, future and current projects, ad-hoc requests or underlying methodology disclosures. • Undergraduate/graduate degree in a quantitative discipline combined with strong investment industry experience. • Over two years' relevant experience and sound knowledge of fixed income, derivatives and money market instruments. • Understanding of investment markets, benchmarks, drivers of performance. • Demonstrated ability to work independently and establish priorities to meet tight deadlines. • Strong interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills. • Highly developed computer skills with the aptitude to learning new systems. • Intermediate to Expert level skills in MS Excel, MS Access & Visual Basic. • Enrolled in or completion of Chartered Financial Analyst designation is an asset.
