If I had the opportunity to do service with the Abeneefoo Kuo Honor Society, I will want to give hope to local children who are hospitalized. One of my close friends, Chisom, was diagnosed with sickle cell at the age of 2 years old. As a young girl, she spent weeks, sometimes even moths hospitalized by her illness. She told me about times that she wished she were dead, because she felt so defeated and trapped by her illness. Chisom told me that volunteers would come to the hospital and lift her spirits, they gave her hope that she would one day be healed and happy again. While Chisom is now 20 and still has sickle cell, she thanks the volunteers a lot for helping her realize that her life was worth living. As an aspiring member of the Abeneefoo
