Is Abortion Wrong or Right?
Here are the arguments; one side believes that abortion is morally and spiritually wrong; while the other side thinks that no woman should be forced to have a baby that she doesn’t want. Many people have mixed feelings about this, there’s an element of truth to both sides of the argument, but i can't help to take the side of pro life, not because of my religious beliefs, but because everyday millions are innocent lives are taken. Instead of women's rights we should be working on human rights. "It is a sad fact that courts in both the United States and in European countries do not consider the unborn child a human being worthy of protection under the Human Rights provisions of the various nations," Scheidler remarks. …show more content…
Up to ten weeks of pregnancy, you can go to a clinic and swallow a pill that stops all nutrition from reaching the fetus. Aspiration, also known as surgical abortion, this can be performed during the first 16 weeks of pregnancy. A surgical instrument called a tenaculum, it has long handles and the end has a clamp, is used to hold the cervix in place, so its dilated by absorbent rods. When the cervix is wide enough, a cannula, which is a long plastic tube connected to a suction device, is inserted into the uterus to suction out the fetus and placenta. Dilation, a surgical abortion, is performed after 16 weeks of pregnancy. A shot could be given before to make sure that the fetus dies. A cannula, a long tube, will then be inserted and begin removing tissue/fetus away from the lining. Then, using a curette, a scoop, the lining is scraped to remove the baby, forceps could be used for larger parts. The extraction procedure is used after 21 weeks of pregnancy. Laminaria is inserted vaginally to dilate the cervix, then the water should break on the 3rd day and you should return to the clinic. Then fetus is rotated and the forceps are used to pull the shoulders, legs, and arms out, one by one. A small incision is made at the base of the skull to allow a suction inside. The catheter removes the cerebral material, or brain, until the skull collapses. The fetus is then removed. ( these procedures can be used during

Abortion Is Wrong

...Babies Lives Matter Kristen Trussell Medtech College Instructor Bouzouma EN140 25 January 2016   Abortion has become a highly discussed topic in our country from people believing its right and others believing its wrong. Annually, an estimated 43.8 million babies die from abortion worldwide (World Health Organization/Guttmacher Institute, published 2012). That is approximately one baby being aborted every two seconds In many states, abortion has been banned after 16 weeks of pregnancy and many doctors will not perform an abortion unless of a medical reason. Some small clinics such as Planned Parenthood will perform these abortions. When going to these clinics there are pro-life and pro-choice groups usually standing out front with signs. Pro-life groups favor greater restrictions on abortion. They argue that a fetus is a human being with the right to live, so abortion is murder. Pro-choice groups argue that a woman has certain reproductive rights especially the right to choose whether to carry a fetus or not. My own is that I think if there is nothing wrong with the fetus when the woman goes to her ultrasound appointments and nothing shows up and there’s no medical problems with the woman then she should keep it. One of the most common reasons a woman chooses to abort is because they want to delay a pregnancy because they are too young. However, in some cases a woman becomes pregnant from being rapped and decides to abort the baby. They do not want to live with the reminder...

Wrong With Abortion

...What is wrong with abortion. Abortion is an on-going phenomenon that has been shaping the world for many generations, breaking up families, disappointing religions, and has psychological distress; basically, it's the "removal of an embryo or fetus from the uterus in order end a pregnancy” (Abortion). Abortion is tragic because it's a form of murder, it goes against religious teachings, and it avoids responsibility. In the Hills like White Elephants, the theme was about abortion, we examined how two people were affected by phenomenon or subject. The man and woman were set on getting an abortion, but since the man kept on pestering the women about the subject, she started getting mixed feelings about if she should get an abortion or keep the...

Abortion Is Wrong

...Not only is abortion a foolish personal choice but it is also a grave offense to God and his creations. For many Christians, the anti-abortion struggle has always been a religious duel with Christians across the nation. This is because the Churches that preach on abortion are very clear and leave no doubt that abortion is murder. Many religions don’t encourage birth control or abortion because they believe that sexual intercourse is for procreation purposes only. With that being said, terminating a child of God is a moral sin. As said in Exodus 20:13-- “Thou shalt not kill”. Many people that believe in abortion also believe that science is on their side when in reality has many disgusting, vulgar, and stomach-churning effects. Abortion often...

Abortion: the Wrong Choice

...Abortion: The Wrong Choice Tammy Edwards COM/172 September 15, 2010 Sunny Rowland Abortion: The Wrong Choice Nearly half of all pregnancies among American women are unintended, and four in 10 of these are terminated by abortion (Guttmacher Institute, Incidence of Abortion, May 2010). Abortion should be made illegal, because a fetus is a baby, no person has a right to take another's life, and an unborn baby cannot make the decision to live or die. A Fetus is a Baby While some view abortion as something people should be able to choose, others say abortion is a great evil, which is destroying the moral fabric of society Cline (2010). Many of the arguments turn on the status of the fetus: Is a fetus a person? A fetus is indeed a baby. From the moment of conception, a fetus is alive and growing inside the mother’s womb. For this reason, the fetus is a baby and considered a living, breathing being. If this were not so, then why is there a law in the state of California that if a person murders a pregnant female, that person is then charged with two counts of murder instead of just one Simon (2004)? This is true no matter how far along the mother is, one day or nine months. Therefore, this makes the fetus a real person. No Person Has a Right to Take a Life No person has the right to take another person’s life. Many skeptics say that the Bible does not say anything specifically about abortion. That there are no references to women seeking to end pregnancies, for...

Abortion the Wrong Choice

...Abortion-The Wrong Choice Renee Pina University of Phoenix COMM/215 December 3, 2011 Abortion-The Wrong Choice Plain and simple, abortion is murder. I strongly oppose abortion. God creates life and only God has the right to take life. Pro-Lifers want an amendment to the US Constitution that will give equal protection under the law to all living humans from time of their conception to the time of their natural death, and I fully agree that American needs that amendment. However, I question what kind of society do we live in that we have to ask for that kind of protection to begin with? I do not believe that the government should fund abortions. I do not believe that the government should fund Planned Parenthood, which is the largest abortion clinic in America. I believe that the violence inside and outside abortion clinics in America is wrong. Abortion is legal in the United States. In 1963, the Supreme Court decided in Roe vs. Wade that a woman can have an abortion in the first six weeks of pregnancy. Almost half of all pregnancies are unplanned and half of those half end up as abortions. The abortion debate has been ongoing for decades in America. Those that oppose abortion stand firm in their belief that they are right. Those that are pro-choice believe that a woman has a right to decide what is best for her. There is very little middle ground when it comes to...

Is Abortion Wrong or Right?

...Rollins  ENG 112-01  September 2, 2015  Is Abortion Wrong or Right?  Abortion is defined as “The removal of an embryo or fetus from the uterus in order to end the pregnancy” (dictionary.com). However, if only the debate over the abortion issue was as easy as the definition listed above. However, similar to most things in life, a statement or opinion is never right nor wrong, but simply left open for clarification. Those who are against abortion believe that abortion is the murder of innocent human beings who aren’t given a chance at life and the ability to function as a normal individual. However, those who are for abortion believe that it is a women’s right to choose what she does to not only her baby but also to her body and if she decides she is not capable of bringing a child into this world, then she should not be forced to.  Everybody has their own opinion so therefore, abortion should not be right nor should it be wrong.  As expected, there are millions of people who are against abortion. These people are considered pro-life, otherwise known as people who feel that, for no reason at all, should any woman feel the need to abort her child while being pregnant. There are many reasons as to why those who are pro-life do not support abortion. The main reason is that, in her decision to have an abortion, the mother is deciding to kill or murder an innocent human being who hasn’t been given a chance at life. Some may also feel that abortion is a very harmful procedure which not...

Why Abortion Is Wrong

...Why is abortion so popular today? Eastern Europe has the highest abortion rate in the world at forty-three abortions per 1,000 women. Also, in the U.S., African American women are at least five times more likely to have an abortion. Almost 1,876 African American babies are aborted every day. This is a high killing rate for unborn children. No one knows what an asset these children could grow up to be. Americans should take more of a stand against abortions. Although abortions have been practiced for many years, there could be ways of preventing it. Many women all around the country have used abortions to control reproductivity. History shows although abortions were not necessarily legal or illegal, they have been performed since 1880. However,...

Why Is Abortion Wrong

...Murder: The crime of unlawfully killing a person especially with malice aforethought. So I ask you is abortion wrong? Do you think its ok to do so? Should it only be up to the woman? Should people study how to effectively kill an unborn child? Would it be ok if you were raped by someone, whether someone close, or a complete stranger? Is adoption not an option for some? When does the situation become ok for you to even consider this as a legit option? A final option? I feel like abortion shouldn’t even be considered. Abortion is the type of topic that can be strongly argued from both perspectives. Abortion, if thought of a strictly wrong, can come down to your moral belief or how you were brought up? If thought of as ok, then you can say how the child will effective you in the long run, or even if you got pregnant from a bad situation....

Abortion is a safe procedure but can also be fatal and dangerous if not done professionally. Murder is illegal so I think abortion should be too. It’s taking innocent lives away and it’s cruel. Many people also think the human embryo isn’t a human because it hasn’t been born yet. Many people think abortion is okay and do not think it’s hurting anyone or killing a human being, but there is good supporting information stating that abortion is wrong and why. Abortion, Right or Wrong?

...Abortion, Right or Wrong? To most people life is a gift. Some people live each day as if it were their last. Others take life for granted and assume that what they put off today they can do tomorrow. What about the life of the unborn child, the human being that is growing and developing inside its mother’s womb. Is it the right of the mother to say this child shall be born, or is it the right of the government? Does the developing fetus have a voice on this issue? These questions have been asked as far back as ancient times. Today, the question whether abortion is right or wrong still has many people on different sides of the issue. Abortions have been performed throughout history for many different reasons. Laws and their enforcement on the issue have fluctuations through many eras. Many of the methods used in early and primitive cultures were non-surgical. Common techniques were making the woman perform strenuous physical activities such as climbing, paddling, weightlifting, or diving. Women could also use irritant leaves, fasting, bloodletting, and pouring hot water onto the abdomen. Each culture had its own ways of dealing with unwanted pregnancies. For centuries, South Asia has practiced the technique of massage abortion, the application of pressure to the pregnant abdomen. During the nineteenth century in the United States, the use of candles and other objects, such as glass rods, penholders, curling irons, spoons, sticks, knives, and catheters...

Is Abortion Morally Wrong

...The idea of abortion is morally looked down upon. Killing a life that has not yet had the chance to live is a huge issue. Some people look at abortion as morally wrong, and others see no problem with having an abortion. This causes havoc among theologians and devote Christians around the world. Most people do not see abortion as a moral issue anymore because times are changing, and as we progress in the world, society is more welcoming to more ideas than others. One of these ideas happens to be abortion. People no longer look at some of the most controversial issues of the world and deem them as morally wrong anymore. Abortion, however, does not have to be the case. It is unlawful to kill an unborn child when there are plenty of other options...

Abortion Right or Wrong

...Jason isam Abortion: Right or Wrong As I see it, there are two sides to the argument of abortion, and I stand pro-choice. Abortion must be the legal right for all women. This doesn't mean in any way I condone an abortion free-for-all. For example, all those women who are trying to get rid of “mistakes” every couple of months because they choose to do nothing to prevent the pregnancy in the first place. Women must have the right to terminate pregnancies under certain circumstances. For example, if a woman has a medical condition, and carrying a child to full term will kill her, it is better to terminate that child as early as possible, to save the mother so she may live her life. And it’s likely if her condition is serious enough to threaten her life, the baby will not survive anyway. Under a circumstance like this, no one can argue two lives lost are better than one, just because the person may believe abortion to be wrong. A teenage girl, only fourteen-years-old, is walking home from school one day. She gets attacked, dragged into some bushes or a car and raped. A few weeks later she learns she is pregnant. At this point, the girl is faced with three choices. She can choose to keep the baby, becoming a mother before most people decide what they want to do after high school. Not only that, she becomes the mother of a child who came from a horrific and terrifying situation. Choice two is to carry the child to full term, and then put it up for adoption. On the Positive...

Abortions: Right or Wrong?

...Abortions…. Right or Wrong? Abortions are undoubtedly one of the most controversial topics in our society today. One of the main reasons is because it is often debated as to when a fetus actually becomes a human being. Some people argue that having an abortion is no different than using any other type of contraception. Other people believe that a human being is formed at conception therefore having an abortion is in fact killing another human being. As we all know it is a severe crime to kill another person as it is punishable by death in some states. So to make this legal you have to say that a fetus before a certain week is not considered a living person. The federal government has its views on abortions as well as does many churches but ultimately the people make up both of those parties so it really comes down to whether they are pro-choice or pro-life. The first thing that must be decided is when does human life begin? According to the Association of Pro-Life Physicians, “life begins at fertilization, when a sperm unites with an oocyte”. In order for something to be considered a living creature it must meet certain elements and a fetus at even one day meets all of those elements. That means if you take a pro-choice approach to abortion then you are choosing to go against the science that has helped us evolve from where we were hundreds of years ago if you choose to say that having an abortion within the first twelve weeks is not killing a human being...
