...Absolute Truth can be defined as "the real state of facts and reality”, an accepted statement or proposition. Some suggest that there is no true reality, only perceptions and opinions, while others argue that there must be some absolute basis. With this being said, we can say that there are two diametrically-opposed beliefs related to absolute truth: There are no absolutes that define reality. Everything is relative, and thus there is no actual reality. There is ultimately no authority for deciding if an action is positive or negative; right or wrong. There are absolutes that define what is real and what is not. Thus, actions can be deemed right or wrong based upon how they measure up against these absolute standards. I’m a firm catholic believer and the catholic perspective on absolute truth should be determined by the one who is the ultimate authority, or maker, of all things. So for any of those who believe in God the absolute truth is derived from properly understanding who God is and what His "will" is for His creation. Propositions, in logic, are statements that can be labeled as either true or false. All of the examples you just heard and saw are complete statements that you can say are either true or false. Propositions are the objects of attitudes and the primary carriers of truth and falsity. This stipulation rules out certain candidates for propositions, including thoughts which are not sharable, and concrete events or facts, which cannot be false. Reference:...

...Absolute Monarchy Paragraphs What would it be like to be the queen and rule an absolute monarchy? I feel it would be the best to be the queen and have all the say. An absolute monarchy would be best as no elections have to take place. Being the leader of an absolute monarchy means you have no one to answer to. Lastly, an absolute monarchy would be best because the leader can charge as much tax as you want because you are in charge. Being the leader of an absolute monarchy means I don't have to call for an election because there is no such thing. Elections take a long time to arrange and process the votes but when I am in charge we would never need an election. Many monarchies have been abolished to this day. I would have all the say in any decision made to deal with a country and it's citizens. If someone wanted to lower the taxes I would have the only decision made and I would not consult anyone else about the matter. I wouldn't need to take opinions from others as I make the decisions without getting others opinions and views on the situation. As the ruler of the absolute monarchy I would have the most wealth. I could make the taxes as high as I wanted to because it is my decision. I would be able to charge the citizens whatever amount I want because I am on top and have all the wealth. In conclusion, being the leader of an absolute monarchy means you have all the power. Having no elections, being the wealthiest and making all the decisions without anyone's impute...

...steady changes of government. The foundations of modern-day democracy can be found in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, with the popularity of enlightenment ideals and the rise of an intellectual community that gave way to a growing criticism of absolute governments. All across Europe and even the Americas, dissatisfaction with the government grew as increased taxes and isolation from the ruling classes led to poverty, and ultimately revolts and disturbances targeted towards the absolute monarchies. In Switzerland and the Austrian Netherlands, urban radicals rejected the authority of Emperor Joseph II in Vienna. The American Revolution began with the colonial elite dissatisfaction with the government in London, while Britain and France had a succession of absolutist leaders who refused to share governing rights. The abuse and misuse of power by absolute monarchs inexorably led to the rise of modern democracy, as evident in the gradual decrease of monarchal power in Britain, and the French and American revolutions. The rise of democracy in Britain was a gradual change in power spanning multiple centuries and royal families. The ideals of democracy can be traced back to the Magna Carta, a charter that notorious absolute monarch King John of England was forced to sign in 1215, which introduced rights such as habeas corpus and the right for nobles to be...

...However before the idea of absolute power came about, king Philip IV of France defied the pope and strengthened the monarchy. During the decline of the Roman church, Philip IV defied Boniface VIII when he levied a tax on the French clergy and arrested a Bishop. Boniface released a papal bull, Unam Sanctum, but gained little success. Philip IV, who was backed by the people, defied the pope which soon led to the church’s downfall. Later in history, the French kings were able to overcome the church’s demands because of Philip IV. For this reason, king Henry IV was able to separate his reign from the church and prepare the way for absolutism. During his reign he reduced the privileges of the nobility and increased government control over the economy, he justified all of his actions...

...The Absolute (and all that) When dealing with the idea of The Absolute, an understanding of what exactly is meant by the word “absolute” would be helpful, for this, we will go to a long trusted source for information, the dictionary. According to the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary, the word “absolute” is defined in a number of ways: free from imperfection; free or relatively free from mixture; being , governed by, or characteristic of a ruler or authority completely free from constitutional or other restraint; having no restriction, exception, or qualification; independent of arbitrary standards of measurement; and perfectly embodying the nature of a thing, just to name a few. (Merriam-Webster) So to look at The Absolute, we are dealing with, according to Merriam Webster, an idea of freedom, purity, something set apart and seen as perfect, I would add and take liberty and say, an example of excellence untainted by anything, but does what Merriam-Webster say still bode well with how many World Religions defined or see The Absolute regarding their specific religion, that is what we intend to find out, The Absolute and all that. When religions speak of The Absolute, we would expectedly assume The Absolute of which they speak of is that of an Absolute Truth, some sort of cosmic truth, a universal truth, something without blemish, an essence or standard that is eternal, something unable to be changed, set apart by uniqueness, an idea of which there is no allowance for...

...Carla Jensen CWV November 13, 2011 Todd Forrest My Very Own Worldview The three components that make up my worldview are God, Knowledge, and Ultimate Reality, because they shape shaped my thoughts, experiences, education, and life decisions. Therefore, my belief in God has shaped my entire life through my thoughts, experiences, and life decisions. My Thoughts: My thoughts have always included God, for as long as I can remember. I can remember feeling the presence of God around me as a very, very small child, and He has always been there to support me with His love and guidance. I don’t think of myself as a religious person, but as a person who would like to live my life the way God wants us to. I have always been a “Pollyanna” type, because I always believed that there is good in everyone and everything. It is really not practical to believe that people will always think and behave the same as me, which is why I have spent many years learning about others – how they think, what they do, and why they do it- as a way to better understand the human race. I have learned that many self proclaimed Christians can be the most evil of people, because going to church and reading the bible does not make a person act like Jesus Christ. People should not have to act “as if”, but just be like Him. I am old enough to have seen some pretty hypocritical folks in my lifetime that would chastise others for not going to church...

...is false. Truth needs to be analytic and synthetic. An absolute claim can only be suggested when the being of it is proven for eternity. There are some distinction of false and truth but it is not absolute. Since to an extent, we distinct things unknowingly into two category, true and false. This distinction it helps us to decide. We distinct it by what we believe, perceived and justified. When we were a child we were told about what is true and what is false, and as we grow we choose it by our own opinion. What if what we’re told since we’re young is false and vice versa? There are some foundations to why we consider things as true and false and how we make our own distinction to understand things. Such as by learning things from other people and being influenced. Religious believe and our own personality or values to life. Sometimes we consider truth to what we want it to be true, as what is comfortable for us to think. Most of our truth and false settles down from a community, our knowledge and believe is tied to what our community is tied to. We believe because it is proven or because we were told and believe it. In the past people believe the world is flat and that there is a cliff at the end of the world. However, since we’ve been outer space we believe it is oval. The truth we once believe turned false. Absolute truth may exist and we might know it. However, since we aren’t omniscient we can’t assume it’s absolute. Truth depends on the situation. If I say “I’m blind”...

...In A People’s History of the United States, Howard Zinn provides some of the most useful correctives to the mindless American triumphalism of many textbooks. When I say “correctives” it might seem that I am implying the existence of absolute objectivity. I do not mean to. I am referring to relative objectivity. There are countless reasons why our peculiar little human vantage point gives us only a fragmentary and systematically distorted perspective on the world. We can see only about two octaves of the electromagnetic spectrum, which certainly extends to well beyond fifty. Similarly, the space and time scales we are aware of are a minuscule segment of the possible ones. Ours appears to be chiefly the result of the size of the earth, whose...

...Absolute Advantage Absolute advantage is a situation where a country can produce a product more efficient than any country in producing it. It also refer to ability to produce a particular good at a lower absolute cost than another. That’s mean a country that have an absolute advantage is a country that can produce a product that are due to some combination. The determinant of absolute advantage for a country is such as favorable climate, good soils, and accumulated expertise. For example, Bangladesh has an absolute advantage in textile industries. The most important factor is Bangladesh has a very low labor costs in their country and Bangladesh also has a vibrant network of supporting industries that supply inputs to its garment manufacturers. According to Adam Smith, the country should specialize in the production of goods that have an absolute advantage. Then the country can trade their product to the other countries. For example, France can produce 2 unit wine in a hour, meanwhile Japan only can produce 1 unit wine in a hour, but Japan can produce 5 unit clock radios in one hour, meanwhile France only can produce 3 unit clock radios in one hour. That means France have an absolute advantage in production of wine compare with Japan. So, France should specialize in production of wine and buy clock radios from Japan. Japan should specialize in production of clock radios and buy wine from france. Comparative advantage From economic perception, comparative advantage is refer...

...leaders have managed to build up and break down their country through the process of trial and error. An Absolute ruler is someone who has complete power and control over anything that has to do with to his territory. Two good examples of these kinds of rulers are Peter the Great ofRussia and Louis XIV of France. Peter the Great of Russia is a great example of an absolute ruler. Peter theGreat came into power and he was in complete control of every bit and piece of Russia. Peter wanted to form a road from Russia to the West. This road is something that would help Russia in many different ways to transport good and people, but he wasn't always helping. After Peter went to war with Sweden he lost the first time. After his defeat he built another army a new and more efficient army. This was the downfall to his rule because he didn't think about the immense loss Russia had faced with that defeat. Peter was too focused on going to war again. Being blinded by this defeat making him want to fight more was not the right move. Russia before this war had no military except the inefficient & shady Streltsky . After he died Russia had a professional military. Peter also built a Navy from the ground up. At the same time him beingblind and hungry for war made him unaware to what Russia needed for the creationof a large middle class. King Louis XIV of France was another example of an absolute ruler because hewent out to obtain anything that made him and France more powerful. King Louis forced...
