USED ENGINE OIL AS SIGN PEN INK COMPONENT

2

Abstract

This research’s sole purpose is to find an ideal alternative for sign pen ink. Specifically, it aimed to experiment upon the concept of whether or not used engine oil (UEO) can be used as a suitable component for sign pen ink. In doing so, the researchers have conducted a test that makes use of varying amounts of two main ingredients, namely,UEO and pounded charcoal. Throughout the course of the experiment, three types of ink were produced with the compositions of: 70% UEO and 30% powdered charcoal (Ink A), 80% UEO and 20% powdered charcoal (Ink B), and lastly 100% UEO and no charcoal (Ink C). Ink A was recorded to have the highest tone quality and highest viscosity, which was proven through the chromatography test. Ink B was found to be second highest in terms of both tone quality and viscosity, while Ink C exhibited the lowest tone quality and lowest viscosity level. Tone quality was recorded by testing the pens for writing, and viscosity level was tested through the chromatography test. After gathering data and results, Ink B was concluded to be the most suitable in replacing sign pen ink, having a fair tone quality and a viscosity level low enough to prevent clogging in the pen. Ink A exhibited obstruction in the ink flow of the pen, having high levels of charcoal. As for the constituents of the inks, it was found that a higher

High Academic Achiever Research Paper

...High Academic Achiever: Recently, I have been improving my academic results throughout the years but had a dramatic transition from year 7 to year 11. I have finally found a passion for learning which had helped me to become one of the high academic achievers in this school and is definitely willing to uphold this position throughout my academic career. Include other examples of Academic Achievement not on co-curricular record. Most of my Academic Achievements have been on co-curricular records as I have participated in many events and competitions, however in my future years I would like to participate in activities that are not on co-curricular record such as partaking in the UQ Enhanced Studies Program and the QUT High School Research Internship. The reason for my lack of Academic achievement (that isn’t on co-curricular records) is because my younger self had quite a struggle with her academics. Unfortunately, it hadn’t been until year 9 where I had found my desire to learn and also to become someone of the medical field. The whole notion of helping people in need of medical attention and serving to the country as a Doctor really encouraged me in my senior years to improve my academics in order for me to achieve this goal. Ability to inspire and actively promote academic achievement and initiatives. Include...

This is congruent with the common assertion sociologist that education can be an instrument of cultural change which is being taught from home is relevant in this discuss. It is not out of place to imagine that parental socio–economic background can have possible effects on the academic achievement of children in school. Whatsoever affect the development environment of children would possibly affect their education or disposition to it. Parental status is one of such variables. When a woman's nutritional status improves, so too does the nutrition of her young children (Lisa et al, 2003). Rothestein has asserted as follows: "Parents of different occupation classes often have different styles of child rearing, different ways of disciplining their children and different ways of reacting to their children education needs. These differences do not express themselves consistently as expected in the case of every family; rather they influence the average tendencies of families for different occupational classes." ...UNDERSTANDING ACADEMIC RESEARCH IN ACCOUNTING: A GUIDE FOR STUDENTS Teresa P. Gordon College of Business and Economics University of Idaho Moscow, Idaho USA Jason C. Porter College of Business and Economics University of Idaho Moscow, Idaho USA ABSTRACT The ability to read and understand academic research can be an important tool for practitioners in an increasingly complex accounting and business environment. This guide was developed to introduce students to the world of academic research. It is not intended for PhD students or others who wish to perform academic research. Instead, the guide should make published academic research more accessible and less intimidating so that future practitioners will be able to read empirical research and profitably apply the relevant findings. The guide begins by examining the importance of academic research for practitioners in accounting and next reviews the basics of the research process. With that background in place, we then give some guidelines and helpful hints for reading and evaluating academic papers. This guide has been used for several years to introduce master’s degree students to academic literature in an accounting theory class. After reading this guide and seeing a demonstration presentation by the professor, students have been able to successfully read and discuss research findings. Key words: Understanding empirical research, supplemental readings, importance of academic research, incorporating academic research in classroom...

Research on Asia Economics

...Sciences, Nanyang Technological University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Degree of Bachelor of Arts in Economics Academic Year: 2014/2015 FYP Project Number: HE_2AY1415_09 ABSTRACT Despite its high growth, positive economic outlook and its GDP accounting for about a quarter of the world’s GDP, there is an underrepresentation of Asia in terms of published articles in the top 10 economics journals. This study highlights this fact and has found tenure to be a likely cause for the lack of Asia-focused articles. This stems from the strong emphasis universities place on the publishing of articles and with the belief that there is a lack of reliable data on Asia, researchers are less inclined to conduct studies on Asia given that top economics journals require accurate and dependable data for publishing. 1 FYP Project Number: HE_2AY1415_09 ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS We, the authors of this paper, would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Chia Wai Mun, Associate Professor, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Nanyang Technology University, for her unwavering support and constant guidance throughout this project.
