Acquaintance Party: “Power of Boundless Believing Teens”
July 2, 2012 1:00-5:00PM (Multi-Purpose Hall 1)

All BS Tourism Management students were invited. Attendees were mostly freshmen students. The program included introduction to the organization and the officers, background of projects, and lots of games and activities with prizes. The photo booth helped in gathering the audience. At the end of the event, they were provided with their snack. Everyone was encouraged and did participate in the duration of the program. Though the event turned out well, the organization of the activity became a challenge to its success. Materials to be used, such as prizes, were rushed since some of the committee in charge have classes on that day.

Overall, the event achieved its goal: to unite the whole Tourism body, introduce the organization, and encourage camaraderie amongst members and non-members.

...come from all around the world with zero experience of working together on any projects. Although each member tries to inform other members how they are doing by sending emails, it is a sad truth that not everyone will read the emails and be interested in how their colleagues are doing. Everyone just work on their own, making the team a collection of individuals rather than a real group. Without a channel to communicate with each other, it is hard to develop a sense of unity. The frequently organized business trips and the multiple projects at once also show that there is a miscommunication between the secretary and other members. Moreover, there is no standard of excellence to regulate and guide the performance of the employees. Team accomplishment is not being recognized as well. Members thus cannot find the value of performing to the utmost and are frustrated with the heavy workload. Given the above situation, the leader seems doing nothing to handle the stressful circumstances. Base on the analysis of team effectiveness, Jim should intervene at this time at internal level, focusing on relational actions. Building team relationship for a virtual team is even more important than collocated team. As they are working across time and space together with a need of dependence, the most critical aspect to enhance team efficiency is to focus on the collaboration between members. With a sense of unity as well as the belief that individual’s performance can affect the progress of the...

Describe the process you went through to identify the need for change and manage the process of implementing change. What were the results? — Kelley Describe your greatest professional achievement and how you were able to add value to your organization. — Johnson The goal in answering this kind of question is to analyze, rather than summarize, an achievement. This advice is particularly true if you're discussing an accomplishment that is listed elsewhere on the application. Your readers want to gain insight into your character, not read a factual summary of what occurred. Here are some guiding principles to use in constructing your answer: (1) Choose something that's meaningful to you. Some applicants feel obligated to choose the most objectively impressive accomplishments. You should write about something that has personal significance, even if you weren't formally recognized for it. What matters is that you write passionately and insightfully about your subject. Unless otherwise specified, you should feel free to draw on academic, personal, or professional successes. (2) Focus on details about the process. Show...

Accomplishments

...Journal Entry #1 “Accomplishments” Writing for the most part can be a pretty tedious task, never the less it is part of my daily living. Most of my current writing is done for school essays or work purposes. Having to write detailed professional field reports for supervisors and managers to read. I think the hardest part for me when composing essays has always been the initial development and getting started. Making sense of what is in my thoughts and translating those ideas clearly on paper. Often times, I think really hard into it and just coming up with that opening sentence to catch my reader’s attention can truly frustrate me. Once I get started there is nothing stopping me at that point. I just let the flow of thoughts and ideas smoothly translate into my essay while still making sense and sticking to my main objective, which is sticking to central idea and not getting off topic. As I been told many times over, the main purpose of composing is to send a direct clear message across to the reader. Once I have reached the conclusion of my essay, I feel a sense of true accomplishment and pride in my essay. I have successfully pass the initial hurdle. Then comes the easy part which is the revision of the first draft. The revising process is piece of cake and where all the fun starts. Going back proofreading and making all necessary adjustments in order to have a solid and well polish essay is the goal. One of my greatest accomplishments for me personally, was...

...My Personal Accomplishment, My Personal Goals One of my greatest achievements in the field of teaching is accompanying my students every year into a competition where the battle field is to showcase their best skills especially in home economic development. At first, it was very hard as we required to have continues training not just for my students but for me who needs to attend trainings and seminars so I could have additional knowledge and skills to inculcate to my students. My goal is not just to get the prize in every competition but to show that the skills the students acquired was a result of an effective teaching learning process. Another of my most important accomplishment was helping the students to be inspired and achieved their goals through constant studying by heart. In every subject that I am teaching, I see to it that I can give them a one minute inspirational thought so students could be guided to which path they want to go to. At my six years in teaching profession, I’ve encountered a lot of difficulties during early stages. Pericles Accomplishments

...There are many figures in the history of the world that are remembered for different accomplishments they have achieved. From the Found Fathers, to Martin Luther King Jr., even people like Stalin and Hitler; all these historical figures have done huge things to change the world. What Pericles is specifically trying to say however, is that it is not the grand actions that one has done that ultimately matter in a person’s life, but how they treated others that matters in the long run. Pericles is correct in his statement because no matter what a person has done in their life, if they are an unkind person, it taints what good they had done. An example of this is John Forbes Nash Jr. There is a movie based on his life and it paints him as a...

Professional Accomplishment

...The first and most significant accomplishment in my career is my initiative of a modification in the designing of a project and its work-flow which saved the life of a dying product. In early phases of my career, I was hired as Software developer by a startup company. Six months into my first project, I got to know that the marketing team was struggling to get a prospective buyer of that product. Company decided to terminate the development, as they had some big projects lined up and decided to divert all its focus and energy towards them. It was a small company with around 20 personnel, so did not follow all the professional courtesies that one may imagine in an enterprise. A good example may be, that company decisions were announced on the lunch table. This being my first professional project, I got emotionally attached to it at a certain level. I could not see it dying. In a meeting with the CEO, when informed about the halting of the project for a few months, I suggested to launch this product as open web portal till the time we get a potential buyer for it. As launching it would not require much additional investment and resources, since only the interface of application had to be changed according to web portal, he decided to give it a thought. Meanwhile I was shifted to another project. Though I started working on another project, the idea of a web portal was still at the back of my mind. I started working on designing the User Interface for web portal after office hours...

Mission Accomplishment

...AVM-385 Mission Accomplishment With over 20 years of experience in leading Marines/employees in all aspects of life, I have found that the one driving force behind the success of Marines is their drive to be the best. No matter what adversity is put in front of them, they always seem to overcome, endure and come out on top. With the growing pressure that comes with missions, there are many obstacles that have to be addressed in order to succeed. The same can be said about the civilian sector. Leaders and management have to find ways to ensure that the mission and goals are achieved, and in keeping with the best interests and needs of their Marines and employees in mind. When common goals of both employers and employees are shared, then the obstacles to success decrease and the whole “Team” can move forward together. Without teamwork, then the chances of getting the job done decreases and chaos can overtake a unit and workforce. There are several ways to promote teamwork. I believe communication is a key component. Keeping your employees aware of the mission gives them the shared view of where the team is headed. If your employees do not know the “Why”, they can become complacent and wonder if the leadership even cares. Everyday work becomes like Groundhog Day, over and over the same thing. Work quality diminishes, enthusiasm goes away, and the will to succeed fades. When you tell your employees that they need to work the weekend, stay late, or show up early and...

This speaks largely to the character of Columbus, it no doubt took someone with charisma, strong leadership, confidence, and steely determination to carry out the task he set himself on. The second greatest accomplishment that Columbus is responsible for is the foundation of Santo Domingo, a new city suitable for waterfront commerce and less harsh than other settlements Columbus had tried to start.
