The Airborne instructors are also known as the "Black Hats" and are from the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Navy and Air Force. Students are trained in the use of static line deployed T-10C parachutes as well as T-11. Anyone who attends airborne school is held to the same standards. Male and females will have to pass with a minimum score of 60 points per event on the Army Physical Fitness Test in the age group 17-21 year old regardless of the soldiers’ age. The maximum age to qualify for airborne school is 36 years old. Airborne school is three weeks long which consist of ground week, tower week, and jump week. All branches of the United States Military are eligible to go to airborne school as well as foreign national soldiers. Physical fitness during airborne school consists of running four to six miles on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and muscle failure on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Throughout the day you are expected to do chin ups so it will help you during jump week. Ground week is the first week of airborne school.
