I have chosen to review the Knowledge Management data collected about the Dow Chemical Company from the prospective of a Knowledge Worker. Since I am becoming more familiar with the term of what is meant by being a Knowledge Worker I feel like I am able to draw from my own experiences to assess the information gathered. About Dow Chemical Company | What the facts mean to me as a Knowledge Worker | Products & Services provided… | “Dow Chemical Company isa leading science and technology businessthat provides innovative chemical, plastic, andagricultural products and services to customersin more than 160 countries.” (Obtained from Transforming Information Management. Dow Chemical Company makes critical knowledge secure and easier to access and share.) | Location & Organization of the company… | “The company whose annual sales are over $57 billion andhave approximately 46,000 employees, they are a Midland,Michigan-based business.” (Obtained from Transforming Information Management. Dow Chemical Company makes critical knowledge secure and easier to access and share.) | Name of the division, is there any significance behind the name… | Proprietary Information Services – Much of this conversion to manage Dow Chemical Company’s Intellectual Assets began with Anne Rogers, Leader Proprietary Information Services in 2001 when the company acquired six major companies and merged with UCC (Union Carbide Corporation). | Why look at the company from the Knowledge Worker prospective… | Over and over again I find in articles stating that Dow Chemical Company is a great place to work because the company values collaboration and innovation. So, as a Knowledge Worker in my current role with NASA Federal Credit Union I chose to draw from personal experience and place myself in to the role of a Knowledge Worker at Dow Chemical Company. |

For each measure, we discuss causes of variation in the measure as well as consequences. We reach no single conclusion on what earnings quality is because ‘‘quality’’ is contingent on the decision context. We also point out that the ‘‘quality’’ of earnings is a function of the firm’s fundamental performance. The contribution of a firm’s fundamental performance to its earnings quality is suggested as one area for future work. & 2010 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. Overseas Listing and State-Owned-Enterprise Governance in China

...Yinzhi Miao Oversea Listing and State-Owned-Enterprise Governance in China: the Role of the State LL.M. Long Paper Harvard Law School Supervised by Prof. Reinier Kraakman and Mark Roe April 2012 Oversea Listing and State-Owned-Enterprise Governance in China: the Role of the State Yinzhi Miao Abstract: There are both considerate horizontal and vertical governance problems in the Chinese state-owned-enterprises (SOEs). Due to their privileged positions in the political economy, traditional institutions of corporate governance are far from perfect. Thus the value of oversea listing as a governance mechanism is highlighted, and that could be better revealed by a deeper analysis of the benefit-and-cost balance by the government which controls the SOEs. However, effective as it is, oversea listing could not be a marvelous antidote to all governance ills. Further, as the two major governance disasters of oversea listed SOEs shows, if the government lacks a proper self-positioning, nontrivial negative implications will be brought to SOEs governance via oversea listing. The ultimate function of corporate governance in SOEs thus relies heavily on public governance. Key words: state-owned-enterprises, oversea listing, corporate China governance, 2 Table of contents I.
