There are many dangerous ways the person getting the abortion is risking themselves. First of all, there are people who can get an incomplete abortion. An incomplete abortion outlines that part of the fetus, or other products of pregnancy (placenta), may not drain completely from the uterus, requiring further medical procedures. This may result in infection and bleeding.

That leads us to a pelvic infection. Germs and bacteria from the female's vagina or cervix may enter the uterus during the abortion and cause an infection in the pelvic region. Antibiotics can treat infections, but in rare cases, a repeat suction abortion, hospitalization and/or surgery may have to be required.

Those who also plan on getting abortions could get blood clots

This is to ensure a positive experience for the woman during her pregnancy termination (Zamberlin et al. 2012). Abortion

...ABORTION The type of abortion procedure used in elective pregnancy termination is primarily determined by how far a woman is into pregnancy. During the first trimester, you will usually have the option of having a medical abortion procedure or a surgical abortion procedure. Before considering the options, it is recommended that you obtain a sonogram to determine if the pregnancy is viable and for accurate pregnancy dating. The Court established a right of personal privacy protected by the due process clause that includes the right of a woman to determine whether or not to bear a child. The Court dramatically increased judicial oversight of legislation under the privacy line of cases, striking down aspects of abortion-related laws in practically all the States, the District of Columbia, and the territories. The Court held that through the end of the first trimester of pregnancy, only a pregnant woman and her doctor have the legal right to make the decision about an abortion. States can restrict second-trimester abortions only in the interest of the woman's safety. Protection of a "viable fetus'' (able to survive outside the womb) is allowed only during the third trimester. If a pregnant woman's life or health is endangered, she cannot be forced to continue the pregnancy. In the five years before Roe, 16 states with 41 percent of the nation's population had liberalized their abortion laws. When the decision was announced, almost every state legislature was beginning its session...

Arguments For Abortion Essay

...I. Introduction 7 Abortion is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy. In January 22, 1973 abortion was made legal. Many states made abortion illegal unless if it was to save a woman's life. That is why many women resorted to doing illegal abortions around that time. Abortion was finally legalized, supported by the right of privacy in the fourteenth amendment’s concept of personal liberty. Abortion is most often performed during the first 24 weeks of pregnancy. This research paper is about the benefits of abortion, it will analyze:eligibility, different options for abortion, and the number of women who abort; how it affects the mothers and the baby. II. Republican Platform: Women And Abortion

...Republican Platform: Women and Abortion The Republican Party’s position on abortion states that all unborn children should be protected. In the case Roe v. Wade, in 1973, the decision was made that an unborn fetus could be deliberately murdered. Roe v. Wade changed America greatly. Since that year, more than fifty-four million, unborn babies have been killed against their will. The Republican Party is pro-life, and they believe in the Fourteenth Amendment. The Fourteenth Amendment states that every individual’s rights belongs to themselves and no one else. A Fetus's right to life should not be contingent on their mother’s choice. “Roe v. Wade is the fountainhead of the now-imperial federal judiciary that has violated, not only the rights...

Why Abortion Is Wrong

...Name: Glennder Rooplal Topic: Abortion Claim: Abortion is not the best solution. Thesis Statement: Abortion is not the best solution because abortion is murder, it is an unsafe procedure which endangers the lives of women and it disallows for safer options such as adoption. Points It contributes to mass murder It endangers the lives of women It disallows for options such as adoption Introduction The dictionary defines Abortion as: The termination of pregnancy and expulsion of an embryo or of a fetus that is incapable of survival. This simply means, inducing birth to kill the fetus, or baby before it is carried to full term. However, I would define abortion as morally and spiritually wrong. How would you feel if you were denied the right to live? Imagine being held against your will, gagged, and your hands bounded as you are placed in front of a firing squad about to be killed for absolutely no reason. Your right to live depends solely on someone else’s decision, hoping and praying that their decision is one that will be one of moral and ethical consciousness and would allow you your right. This is exactly what abortion entails, denying you your right to live. There are many women who might have gotten pregnant and thought that they were not ready to have a child. For most of them, they turn to abortion and see it as their only way out. I am certain many of these women have not fully understood the consequences behind abortion or does not realise that there are many other...

...By definition, "abortion" refers to any premature expulsion of a human fetus, whether naturally spontaneous, as in a miscarriage, or artificially induced, as in a surgical or chemical abortion. Abortion has been a controversial issue dating back long before the United States Supreme Court’s 7-1 decision on the case of Roe versus Wade. As a result of the case, it was decided that the procedure was a fundamental right. Since then abortion has continued to be a subject that draws fluctuating heated emotions from society. The social predictors of abortion attitudes are greatly influenced by varying religious beliefs, demographics, and political views. Generally, the debate over abortion consists of two stances, pro-choice or pro-life. Those who distinguish themselves as a proponent for the pro-choice attitude towards abortion believe that the procedure is a right that should not be limited by the government or a religious entity. They believe that if women do not have legal access to abortions, these women will resort to unsafe options to eliminate their unwanted pregnancy. Individuals who distinguish themselves as a proponent for the pro-life attitude towards abortion believe that life occurs at the time of conception. Therefore abortion is the immoral killing of an innocent human being. As previously mentioned, this debate stems back to the infamous case of Roe versus Wade. This case originated in Dallas, Texas in 1969 when “Roe”, the legal pseudonym for Norma Leah McCorvey...

Does Thomson’s Violinist Thought Experiment Demonstrate That, Even If the Fetus Is a Person with Full Moral Rights, Abortion Is Still Morally Permissible in Most Circumstances?

...The argument on whether abortion is morally permissible has been considered for years. Most philosophers incline to accept moral principle that it is always prima facie seriously wrong to end the life of a person in normal circumstances. The personhood of an embryo and foetus has somehow invoked another controversial issue on whether they are kind of beings, or persons, that it is seriously wrong, for any sake, to end their life. Both the anti-abortionist side and pro-choicers side can only give equally vague boundary on claiming that foetus is a person, or not so. However, as we will find out later in this essay, the problem of whether a foetus is a person, or whether a foetus has serious right to life, does not significantly affect the consideration of abortion under Thomson’s account. The argument of the personhood of foetus will just stay at a standoff if there is no clear definition or lists for what characteristics make a thing a person. When we draw line to represent the development of a human being from the state of conception to the point that a baby is born, it will be arbitrary to choose a point which the thing inside a mother is a person after that point and not a person before that point. Moreover, the opposite of abortion may suggest that a foetus, even at the moment of conception, is a person because of their potential future, meanwhile, the supporters of abortion may insist that a foetus has not yet become a person because it lacks of some characteristics that...

Why Teens Choose Abortion

...Why Teens Choose Abortion There are so many sources that could be used to gain knowledge about why teens choose to get abortions, but there are only several reliable sources about that topic. It is very important to rely on credible sources. The use of good sources can lead to information that is credible and accurate. If using non-reliable sources about finding information about a specific topic you could be getting all the information wrong because of the non-credible sources that are being used. Because I used reliable sources I was able to come up with the conclusion that the number one reason why teens choose to get abortion is because when they feel pressured they tend to find an escape to the problem, in this case, abortion. A source is more credible if written by someone with a degree or other credentials in the subject of interest. If no author or organization is named, the source will not be viewed as very credible. An example of a good source about the reasons why teens choose abortion is the article “Why Teens Choose Abortion” by Linda Lowent. This article proves to be a reliable source in so many ways. One way is by giving us a publication date. The publication date is not only important but the fact that is recent, April 15, 2011, makes it a more reliable source. Also, the website where this article was published at is known web page which makes it a credible article. The most important evidence that makes this article a credible one is the author. The name...

...all aspects of their use’ (Vayena et al, 1997) People have accepted the practice of various forms of fertility treatment for thousands of years. Despite this, controversy surrounds these new reproductive technologies because they challenge the traditional understanding of the relationship between sex and procreation. Consequentially, this also has the potential to challenge the structure of linage and kinship networks. This report will investigate the reported and perceived social implications of some commonly used reproductive technologies currently used today; including contraception, in-vitro fertilisation, gamete intra-fallopian transfer, intra-cytoplasmic Sperm Injection, pre-implantation genetic diagnosis, gamete donation and abortion. Equality of Access Reproductive technologies have had a significant impact to the lives of many infertile and sub-fertile couples around the world. However, due to the high financial costs of these procedures, the access to these technologies is largely limited to Western society; particularly middle to high income earners. Consequentially, developing countries whom have the highest rates of infertility, have limited access to these technologies. The use of these technologies is surrounded with controversy over the social implications involved. In the case of developing countries, some fear allowing access to these societies would lead to increased population growth in already overpopulated environments. A potential consequence...

Unsafe Abortion: Unnecessary Maternal Mortality Analysis

...According to Lisa B. Haddad and Nawal M. Nour in their article “Unsafe Abortion: Unnecessary Maternal Mortality,” 20 million of the 42 million abortions that happen annually are self-induced and unsafe. Abortion should always be legal in any circumstance, such as when it is what the woman wants or needs to do for either her health or the babies. Fetal suffering is one reason to keep abortion legal because 67% of fetal anomalies will be terminated in the second trimester due to concern for both the child and mothers quality of life (Antenatal Care). Rape is another circumstance in which the woman may need an abortion. Postpartum depression, an effect of rape caused pregnancies, already has more than 3 million people in its grips a year (Rape-related...
