In case anyone was unaware; the Achilles' tendon is a band of fibrous tissue that connects the calf muscle to the heel bone. Human beings use this tendon in practically every activity that involves the movement of the foot. For runners, it's not rare for them to suffer from injuries the Achilles' tendon at least one time in there in their career. Although the Achilles tendon can withstand great stresses from running and jumping, injuries can still occur. In this article, the purpose was to observe the effects of foot strike pattern and step frequency during running utilizing muscle forces based on a musculoskeletal model.
