...to exist because of the strain of war. There were many important details in World War 2, that helped to create what it became, and I’m going to discuss some of those details. Within World War 2, many different things occurred, such as concentration camps, and those issues are very important to many today, even though this event happened so many years ago. That is why I’m going to discuss the historical key points during World War 2, and explain why they were important. The beginning of World War 2 did not happen immediately as some might think, but it took time to develop. It all began when Hitler withdrew himself from the League of Nations in the year 1933, he did not believe the League would come after him because of their previous actions with Japan. That is why he left them and began to arm his country heavily with weapons and other things; in the meanwhile he was forming deals with many different nations for various things. The power of the League took another hit when Mussolini was able to get away with his attack on Ethiopia, and was supplied by US oil companies. After noting the weakness exhibited by the League, Hitler decided to unite Germany with Austria, and by doing so he was able to get the support of both France and Britain to gain the land of Czechoslovakia. This did not bode well for Czechoslovakia, and they were eventually captured and Germany destroyed them and took...

...which the Allies landed on German-controlled beaches in an attempt to gain the upper hand on Hitler and the Axis powers. For me, I learned about the Axis and Allies through playing old WWII video games a s a kid, but not many people actually know what these two words mean or consist of. The Axis powers were the bad guys and consisted of Germany, Italy, and Japan. Oddly enough, Italy switched over to the Allied powers later in the war. The Allies were the supporters of the U.S., the good guys. They consisted of Poland, Britain, and Russia, formerly known as the USSR. The United States was also a part of the Allies but they didn’t join into the fighting until later in the war. A big portion of the credit of the victory on D-Day has to go to the 101st airborne division. They parachuted in and fought from behind enemy lines to flank the Germans from the rear. They had a huge impact on this very crucial battle. D-Day was the beginning of many Allied victories that led to the end of Hitler’s reign. The 101st airborne were a very big asset to the Allies. They were an elite force of skilled paratroopers that were the best of their kind. These highly trained killers were dropped in during the invasion. They actually had a lot of miscommunications on the landing zones and drop sites for these men because of the poor weather conditions. They had planned the invasion to take action on the 5th of June, 1944 but because of very low tides and bad cloud cover they postponed it to June 6th....

...battle as a whole.' Field Marshal Sir Bernard Law Montgomery, 1st Viscount Montgomery of Alamein, KG, GCB, DSO, PC, nicknamed "Monty" and the "Spartan General". This essay will examine a number of lessons learnt from OP HUSKY July 9th 1943 during World War II. Both strategic and tactical examples will be drawn upon in order to relate to current day/ future operations. Prior to the lessons the question requires further explanation to provide greater accuracy within the analysis. The two main areas for development within the question are the terms strategic and tactical. Strategic can be defined as 'relating to the gaining of overall or long-term military advantage'1 Tactical on the other hand can be defined as 'relating to or constituting actions carefully planned to gain a specific military end.'2 The Allied invasion of Sicily, codenamed OP HUSKY, was one of the major campaigns and naval landings of World War II. It began on the night of 9th - 10th July 1943 and was a combination of a large scale amphibious and fairborne operation proceeded by a six weeks of inland combat. The first strategic lesson that can be learnt is the need for co-ordination and integration of all arms and services into the initial planning phase and also during the execution of any operation, a key example of evidence to support this is during OP FUSTAIN. OP FUSTAIN was a mission to capture the Primosole bridge over the Simeto river. This bridge was vital ground for both the German/ Sicilian forces...

...of businesses and partners. You are operating across international lines and frequently dealing with other cultures, currencies, and legal situations. This is true no matter if you are selling goods and services or working in bringing people from the other country into your country as tourists. Thus it becomes advantageous to for strategic alliances with people and businesses in all the countries in which you hope to operate. What is a strategic alliance? A strategic alliance is a merging or working together of businesses for mutual gain. It goes all the way back in history to when government started signing treaties to protect their borders and interests, a good example is during World War 2 when there were the Allied powers and the Axis Powers. Those were military strategic alliances for getting rid of the opposition and strengthening your borders while decreasing your expenses. When conducting business across borders a strategic alliance can help open international markets. How? One way is that the businesses with which you ally yourself should better understand the people in the country, and that will make it easier to sell your product and protect your interests. For instance names and words have power, especially in marketing. A lawyer advertising in England would never say something like "Let us help you get out of that bum rap" as bum there means Ass" Selling products can mean you need to shift names and phrases, a strategic alliance will help with this. Your...

...risk-based impacts X Axis would encounter in such a situation. 3.1.1 Identify Outage Impacts and Estimated Downtime This section identifies and characterizes the types of impact categories that a system disruption is likely to create in addition to those identified by the FIPS 199 impact level, as well as the estimated downtime that the organization can tolerate for a given process. Impact categories should be created and values assigned to these categories in order to measure the level or type of impact a disruption may cause. An example of cost as an impact category is provided. Organizations could consider other categories like harm to individuals and ability to perform mission. The template should be revised to reflect what is appropriate for the organization. Outage Impacts Impact categories and values should be created in order to characterize levels of severity to the organization that would result for that particular impact category if the mission/business process could not be performed. These impact categories and values are samples and should be revised to reflect what is appropriate for the organization. The following impact categories represent important areas for consideration in the event of a disruption or impact. Impact category: HIPAA Impact values for assessing category impact: • Severe = $1 Million • Moderate = $550,000 • Minimal = >$550,000 The table below summarizes the impact on each mission/business process if X Axis Network were unavailable...

...The Axis powers did certainly encounter supply problems with their campaign in North Africa. Especially towards the end of the campaign, they were experiencing serious difficulties in this sphere. Fuel, troops and ammunition were running out at such a rate that it was becoming increasingly difficult to replace it and Rommel’s pleas to Germany were being ignored. However there were certainly two more important factors that contributed to the Axis power’s defeat. These were Hitler’s, and to a lesser extent Rommel’s, poor grasp of strategical and logistical warfare in the North African area as well as the superiority of Allied naval and air power with the welcome introduction of American forces after 1941. After an unsuccessful Italian campaign in Egypt, Mussolini requested help from their German ally, and the Italian Commando Supremo sent motorized and armoured forces to protect their colonies in North Africa. The Germans hastily put together a motorized force, whose lead elements arrived in Tripoli in February 1941. Thus the rush to support the ailing Italian forces also played a part in the defeat of the Axis powers in North Africa as Germany certainly viewed North Africa as a peripheral area. The force, termed the Afrika Korps by Hitler, was placed under the command of Erwin Rommel. In April of the same year Rommel launched a series of attacks on Tobruk, the heavily garrisoned port fortress manned by an Australian infantry division. However when he failed in his attempts...

...The Soviet Union’s expansion into Western Europe began with one man’s greed, and then followed by another’s need for retribution. During WWII, Adolf Hitler had brokered a policy with the Soviet Union, the German-Soviet Pact, with promises not to attack one another and to supply one another with manufactured goods from Germany, and raw materials from the Soviets. As we, all know from High School History class, this was only a temporary way to keep the Soviets from countering Hitler’s defeat of Poland. The National Socialist and Adolf Hitler considered the mass Russian lands to be a prime location for a future long-term settlement, and their politics to be an expansion of the Jewish community. Since the German assault on the world began, they always viewed the USSR to be an enemy with intentions to deliver the same fate to the Soviet Jews as he did in the European countries. In June 1941, Germany launched its first invasion against the Soviets, with complete disregard of the nonaggression pact. Three German army groups overwhelmed the unsuspecting Soviets and easily advanced deep into the Russian territory, with troops following with mass murder operations, and eventually stopping in September 1941, at the gates of Leningrad. The German forces occupied a large portion of Western USSR for nearly two years. However, in the winter of 1943, the German army suffered a massive defeat, with nearly 100K soldiers surrendering, at Stalingrad to the Soviet military. The USSR forces went...

...How far would you agree that allied support was the main reason for the Russian victory in the Second World War? PLAN (POINT EXPLANATION EVIDENCE) 1.INTRO(WHO ARE WESTERN ALLIES) 2.ALLIES CREATING WAR ON TWO FRONTS 3.THE U.S, SUPPLY FOR THE USSR 4.THE USSR ITSELF 5.THE AXIS MISTAKES 6. CONCLUSION Allied forces consistent from countries which opposed the Axis powers. The main policy makers of Allies were the U.S.A., USSR and British Empire. These coalition and its cooperation helped the USSR, but importance of allied support for the USSR victory is arguable as there are several factors which oppose that statement. Allied forces were crucial for the USSR victory in the 2 World War as they created war on two fronts, which did not allow German to use all its power against the USSR. After defeat of Germans in Moscow, the USSR army advanced on the east, defatting Germans in Stalingrad, Leningrad and Kursk. However, even when Eastern was the biggest front in the 2 World War, and the USSR was fighting against bigger proportion of German soldiers, allies created pressure on Nazi army from the West and in North Africa. If the USSR would have fought against the hole Reich Army, the war for it would be lost. Also the allies were highly advanced in technology, what resulted in a lot of bombing operation from the USA and Britain. This allowed the USSR to meet less german tanks and avoid German airfares in their full presence, as the USSR was not able to produce aircrafts...

... The Second World War was the bloodiest conflict in human history due to the world's superpowers fighting. There were many conflicts, like The Battle of the Bulge and Iwo Jima, but the most important was the Invasion of Normandy. This is the battle that helped the Allies win the war in Europe. This was the biggest amphibious invasion in military history. The great battle started June 6th 1944.The Invasion of Normandy was the most important battle of World War II due to the fact that it dealt a crippling blow to the Nazis in Western Europe while also taking pressure off the Russians and it stretched German supply lines thin from transferring Russia to France. Invading Europe has been on the Allies mind since 1941 when America entered the war in December of the same year. One reason this was the most important battle of world war 2 the sheer size of the invasion. It was the biggest amphibious invasion in military history. To set up for the biggest amphibious invasion in history, the United States had to send men and material across the Atlantic. Once they got to Britain they started training. They trained using the beaches around Britain training the transport aircraft or glider were learning tactics. They were learning how to attack the beaches were to go what to do when to do it. One of the most important objectives of the invasion was to push past the beaches to get a secure beachhead,so the allies on the front could get supplies. Then they had to secure the causeways. Causeways...

...Substance Use, Abuse, and the Adolescent January 9, 2014 Walden University Axis I Axis I holds descriptions of clinical symptoms. These symptoms can lead to significant impairment. Adjustment impairment is one of these disorders. Hopelessness, feeling sad and stress are among the symptoms of impaired adjustment. The patient is clearly suffering from impaired judgement. This is evident where he says that he is stupid. For him to think he is stupid, he must be feeling hopeless. Otherwise he would not conclude on being stupid and instead would hold a belief of self improvement. The patient’s sadness is also depicted when he comments that his mother hates his friends. He clearly suffers from social problems. That is probably why he would rather spend most of his time playing video games and listening to music. It is probably the only way he can momentary escape his loneliness. Axis II Mental and personality retardation in Axis II describes situations that are applicable to the subject’s situation. In this description, some issues which are overlooked in the Axis I develop into more serious conditions which are long term. One symptom from this axis that is evident in the patient is the tendency to be antisocial. This disorder is illuminated when the mother points out that he spends m much time playing his video games. This game ensures that the better time of his day is spent indoors and in the loneliness. When playing these games, he does not involve himself in social talks...

...Support for High Definition Cameras. Support for High-Definition IP Cameras Kevin O’Neal DeVry University NETW206: Introduction to Switching Submitted to: Professor: Hopkins Date: 7-15-2012 Support for High Definition Cameras. My choice for the 150 high definition surveillance cameras would be the Aventura CAM-IPM-2D-29PIRVP 2 Megapixel IP Dome Camera. This camera has 2.0 Megapixel Resolution (1600x1200), Infrared/IR Cut Filter up to 60ft. and POE (Power Over Ethernet) support. These cameras should be combined with the Cisco Catalyst 3750-24PS switch at the access layer. 20 cameras should be combined on a single switch creating 160 mbps of maximum bandwidth per switch. By using 2 IP cameras at each location, redundancy can be created in the event of a switch failure. At each location, each of the two cameras would be on separate switches. The Cisco 3750 series access switches are IEEE 802.3af, QoS, and rapid spanning-tree compliant. The 8 Cisco Catalyst 3750-24PS access switches should be combined with 2 or more Cisco WS-X4624-SFP-E line cards installed in a Cisco Catalyst 4506-E Chassis with redundant, hot-swappable power supplies and redundant, hot-swappable Supervisor Engine 6-E’s. The Cisco Catalyst 4506-E with up to 6 slots per chassis allows for both redundancy and scalability. In this merged distribution and core layer, the next step would be the media servers at a rate of 16 cameras per media server. In this configuration each switch will support up to 20 cameras per...
