1998 Acura Integra GS-R: A Review
Jesse Ezell

The 1998 Acura Integra GS-R or Grand Sport Racing is a premium trim level for the 3rd generation of Acura Integra, a luxury sports car. It came in the United States in either 2-door hatchback or 4-door sedan configurations, was only offered in a 5-speed manual transmission. This car was made between 1994 and 2001 in the Honda Japan assembly plant in Suzuka, Japan by Acura/Honda. It is equipped with a B18C1 DOHC VTEC engine producing 170hp and 128ft-lbs of torque. This car carries the same basic features of the GS model aside from a small number of interior changes and sold for $20,980 new.
The Integra GS-R comes with a surprisingly peppy motor a 1.8 liter 170hp VTEC or the B18C1. This motor mixed with the cars surprisingly light weight a around 2600lbs makes this car accelerate quite quickly for a stock inline 4. Along with the peppy engine the car comes standard with premium alloy wheels, upgraded cosmetics from the lower trim levels like white turn signals and a more aggressive body trim. The transmission and steering are both tight but forgiving making this car a joy to drive. These facts mixed with the outstanding handling this car gets in corners and at higher speeds makes this car what I can only describe and a genuine pleasure to drive.
Alongside of all the positive things I like about this car there are other things that are not as good about it. The car runs Premium fuel only and at a 26 mpg combined your wallet is going to go empty fast keeping gas in this car with its what I feel is very small 13 gallon fuel tank. The Integra also sits very low to the ground making navigating some driveways and steep business entry ramps difficult to navigate without bottoming the car out. The stock 15 inch wheels are not wide or tall enough to handle the cornering this car is capable of causing you to lose grip in tight turns.
So if you like a sporty car with lots of get up and go and handling that makes for a driving adventure but do not mind the lack of interior space and not so great fuel mileage and costly fuel grade, then the Integra GS-R just may be the car for you! My personal opinion of this car is high despite its obvious flaws. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys driving a well-balanced fun car. I feel strongly about this vehicle as I drive one every day. It is well built and reliable.

You leave out of their feeling like you got robbed for your money. I personally never had that feeling just because I work on my own car but I know people who have. That’s why I strongly advise you to purchase your own repair manual for your vehicle. As I received my repair manual for my car I was happy to say that I was very satisfied for what I purchased, it provided me with the opportunity to save money by helping myself look up problem for my car, if I was ever in trouble and needed something to help me fix my car, instead of wasting money on a mechanic. I have a 1991 Acura Integra which has been a little sick lately that’s why I took matter into my own hands and purchased a repair manual. My expectations on this product fully met and exceeded my expectations. It met my expectations by giving me more information I wanted to know about my vehicle. I thought I knew everything there is to know about my vehicle but that quickly got proven wrong by this manual. I have learned to read cell codes and how to troubleshoot the code. In addition this manual has taught me how to properly inspect my car if I ever have any problems in the...

For Isabella and Calista Stone When you are eighty years old, and in a quiet moment of reflection narrating for only yourself the most personal version of your life story, the telling that will be most compact and meaningful will be the series of choices you have made. In the end, we are our choices. —Jeff Bezos, commencement speech at Princeton University, May 30, 2010 Prologue In the early 1970s, an industrious advertising executive named Julie Ray became fascinated with an unconventional public-school program for gifted children in Houston, Texas. Her son was among the first students enrolled in what would later be called the Vanguard program, which stoked creativity and independence in its students and nurtured expansive, outside-the-box thinking. Ray grew so enamored with the curriculum and the community of enthusiastic teachers and parents that she set out to research similar schools around the state with an eye toward writing a book about...
