...Journal of International and Intercultural Communication Vol. 4, No. 4, November 2011, pp. 246Á251 (Re)conceptualizing Intercultural Communication in a Networked Society Damien Smith Pfister & Jordan Soliz We offer four theses about how intercultural communication is altered in a digitally networked era. Digital media shape intercultural communication by (1) producing new public fora capable of (2) hosting rich, multimodal ‘‘spaces’’ of contact on (3) a scale of many-to-many communication that (4) challenges traditional modes of representation. Keywords: Digital Media; Intercultural Communication; 2009 Iran Protests; Networked Communication As internetworked media technologies gradually diffused throughout the world, they have often been sparks for intercultural dialogue. Internet websites enabled web-savvy organizations, like the Zapatista Army of National Liberation, to circulate their views throughout the 1990s. The power of citizens to communicate directly with each other through digital media was not fully apparent until late 2002, when the pseudonymous Salam Pax began reporting through his blog what life was like for Iraqis in the run-up to the 2003 combat operations. Since then, citizens have relied on the tools of digital media to coordinate protests internally and communicate with outside audiences in a number of colorful revolutions: Rose (Georgia, 2003), Orange (Ukraine, 2004Á2005), Saffron (Burma, 2007), Green (Iran, 2009), and Jasmine (Tunisia...

...Unknown Lab Report The mixed unknowns were gram stained and looked under the microscope. There were gram-positive cocci and gram-negative bacilli. The unknowns were inoculated in blood agar and Mac-conkey. Three types of colonies were seen in the blood agar. All the three organisms showed different hemolysis, as there were alpha, beta and gamma hemolysis present. In the mac-conkey, there was colorless colony that denotes lactose non-fermenter. Each colonies were then inoculated into different blood agar to do further testing. Organism A I. Microscope- Gram positive cocci II. Blood Agar – Beta hemolysis Complete hemolysis. III. Catalase test– Positive Presence of bubbles when catalase was added to the slide with the organism in it as it can convert hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen. 2H2O2---- 2H2O + O2 The organism falls in the genus Staphylococcus or Micrococcus. IV. Coagulase test, Staphylococcus Latex test – Positive Clumping of the latex reagent seen within 20 seconds. The organism makes coagulase. These tests suggest that the organism is Staphylococcus aureus. So for confirmatory test, the organism was inoculated in mannitol salt agar and incubated. The result was yellow color colony (mannitol fermenter), which means it is S. aureus. Organism B I. Microscope- Gram negative bacilli II. Blood agar- Gamma hemolysis No hemolysis. III. Mac. Conkey- Colorless colony The organism does not ferment lactose. IV. Oxidase test- Negative The organism...

What factor or factors would give a firm market power as a purchaser? How might a firm possessing market power use procurement to build and sustain competitive advantage derived from (end) product innovation? In being able to determine any single or set of contributing factors that may give a firm market power as a purchaser, it is best to first agree a definition for market power and how it applies to purchasing. In its broadest definition market power can be defined as the ability of a firm to be able to influence or control terms and or conditions on which goods are bought and sold. There are also numerous schools of thought as to what precisely constitutes market or buyer power. The traditional sense is to define it in terms as an inverse of a monopoly, whereby the buyer can set prices profitably below...

I would like to thank you for encouragement of my research and guide me to learn how to think independently like a professional researcher. Your advice on both research as well as on my career have been priceless. And also appreciate the help from Andrew in ADFA who helped me to do the impact test and provided me plenty of background information about how the test worked. I really couldn't analyze the data without it. I would also like to thank our group member Andrew, Johnson and Alex who have assisted me to do the experiment and offer me some techniques for operating the experimental equipment. A special thanks to my family. Words cannot express how grateful I am. Thanks to you, I have this chance to study in this first class university and finally graduate. I would also like to express my gratitude to lab manager George Yang’s and Rahmat Kartono’s helps and trainings on my experiments.
