Mitchell suggests that this “method” is the most effective way to do better in school and will still be effective in higher education. Based on a recent study by Prof. David Berry at the University of Kentucky, Mitchell concludes, “Faking the test that diagnoses ADHD is easy,” and many students do it (Mitchell para. 6). I have never encountered someone, nor have I heard of a person who deliberately cheated their way into receiving extra time on tests by a false ADHD diagnosis. The third edition was published in 1991 (WISC-III; Wechsler, 1991) and brought with it a new subtest as a measure of processing speed. In addition to the traditional VIQ, PIQ, and FSIQ scores, four new index scores were introduced to represent more narrow domains of cognitive function: the Verbal Comprehension Index (VCI), the Perceptual Organization Index (POI), the Freedom from Distractibility Index (FDI), and the Processing Speed Index (PSI).
