February 28, 1999 Adnan Syed was arrested at age 17 for the murder of Hae Min Lee. Adnan and Hae were in a relationship, it was an on and off again relationship. Around the time of the murder Adnan and Hae were no longer together and Hae was dating someone else. Adnan had allegedly strangled Hae with his own hands in the best buy parking lot, and buried Hae’s body in Leakin park with the help of Jay. Jay is Adnan’s friend. Then they had hid Hae’s vehicle. Adnan deserves a new trial because of the alibi witness that had was never brought to testify, Adnan’s lawyer who had not done her case properly, and very weak evidence against Adnan.

Gutierrez had a mistrial on the first trial; she was accused of lying. The second mishap was the call logs again. When Gutierez should have focused on the call logs to see if they matched to Jay’s testimony, but instead she focused on the brand of the device which had nothing to do with the case. If these two mistakes had not occurred during the trail, then Adnan would have had a chance to be prove himself as not guilty. Christina Gutierrez should have looked for an alibi for Adnan, just like how he asked for. There was one Alibi that could have made a huge difference in the case. That alibi was Asia McClain. Asia had written letters to Adnan while he was in jail. The letters had said that Asia saw Adnan at the library and that they were talking. It also says that Asia’s boyfriend and his friends saw Adnan there too. Asia said that there were security cameras in the library, and that it should help him with his defence. Asia had even tried to contact Ms.Gutierrez to set up an appointment to talk so she can testify, but Gutierrez did not use Asia as an alibi or anything at all. Not only has Christina Gutierrez done her job incorrectly, she also demanded money. Adnan’s mother claims to have never gotten information about Adnan from Gutierez, but only demands for money.
