Let us talk about this controversial topic in two important points. First of all, our everyday life has known a very remarkable development in fact the use of computers technologies became indispensable. This excessive use of it has permitted a considerable growth in different fields, study research and industry. But it renders the human factor less creative, more dependents and it is not friable one hundred per cent. For example, because of computers we can store data and make stay in its original state, like pictures, documents and other things. This was not possible in the earlier time. Because of it, we can store large amounts of data and make this data available for usage at any time we needed it. In addition, the computers also help us work efficiently and save time, they are a good entertainment venue where people can play games, watch movies and listen to music. Despite the huge benefits of computers, it can’t be denied that their disadvantages are also a complicated problem. The computers can have a bad effect to our health, especially our eyes. ...that you might not have thought of. Take care to confirm what you are reading is accurate before trusting it as fact. Use of computers in education and research has completely changed the way things were made before. For example, a lecture to the students or the presentation of a paper to a Congress are completely different with respect to those of only a few decades ago, when blackboard, transparencies or photographic slides were used. There are many positive aspects of using computers, for example making a talk very attractive. However, there are also negative aspects. In this paper an analysis is presented of advantages and disadvantages I experienced and of consequences of using computers. Advantages and Disadvantages of Computers As you know nowadays almost every home, office or school has a computer or even a few of these devices. Anyway, these modern technologies without which lots of people cannot imagine their lives have some advantages as well as disadvantages. To begin with, I would like to comment on the advantages. So firstly, computer gives you the opportunity to access a lot of information about everything not to mention the fact that you can store large amounts of information on the computer in a database.   One computer disk can hold the same amount of information as several books. And don’t forget about the fact that computers can do some jobs very quickly. For example, writing some report with...

One computer disk can hold the same amount of information as several books. And don’t forget about the fact that computers can do some jobs very quickly. For example, writing some report with charts and diagrams on a computer will take you less time than writing it manually. Computers not only allow doing those jobs faster, but also allow doing them from a distance for example, from home and sending somewhere you need by e-mail. Finally, computer is useful for communication. To my mind there is plenty of communication software which helps you to socialise with your friends, mates as well as with foreigners from all over the world not even leaving your room. On the other hand as any other appliance it has its own minuses. Let’s face the problem that computer becomes old – fashioned very fast after buying it and needs to be replaced. The point is that replacing a computer is quite expensive. The newer the computer is the more you have to pay for it. Not to mention, the costs you have to pay for fixing the computer if it breaks. Networking

...networking the bus topology is that one computer at a time can send information. This affects the performance of the network. There are limited amounts of computers attached to this network. All users share the amount of transmission time. For each computer that is sending data the longer some computers wait to send their data (Tomosho, Tittel, & Johnson, 2004). The bus topology is a passive topology, which means that it is listening to the data being sent but is not participating in network communications. The advantages of possessing a bus network is that is a quick, inexpensive network to set-up and easy to implement. The disadvantages are the amount of computers that attached to the network and the amount of data that flows through them causes the network to be slow. Another disadvantage is if something happens to one part of the network the whole network fails. Ring Topology The ring topology is each computer is connected directly to the next computer in line, making a circle effect with the cables. If one computer receives a signal it either acts on it or it passes it to the next computer. The signal travels only in one direction (Tomosho, Tittel, & Johnson, 2004). Termination is not necessary since it is a circle with no end. Some advantages of a ring topology are the computers have equal access to the entire network. The ring network has a very steady performance, even though it has many users. Some disadvantages are if one computer fails the entire network is affected...

Understanding Basic Network

...A network consists of 2 or more computers connected together, and they can communicate and share resources (e.g. information) Why Networking? Sharing information — data communication Sharing hardware or software - print document Centralize administration and support - Internet-based, so everyone can access the same administrative or support application from their PCs How many kinds of Networks? Depending on one’s perspective, we can classify networks in different ways Based on transmission media: Wired (UTP, coaxial cables, fiber-optic cables) and Wireless Based on network size: LAN and WAN (and MAN) Based on management method: Peer-to-peer and Client/Server Based on topology (connectivity): Bus, Star, Ring … Topologies There are different topologies that make up computer networks. Topology is the physical layout of computers, cables, and other components on a network. Many networks are a combination of the various topologies that we will look at: ·       Bus ·       Star ·       Mesh ·       Ring Bus Topologies A bus topology uses one cable to connect multiple computers. The cable is also called a trunk, a backbone, and a segment. Most of the time, as seen in Figure below, T-connectors are used to connect to the cabled segment. They are called T-connectors because they are shaped like the letter T. You will commonly see coaxial cable used in bus topologies. [pic] In a bus topology, all computers are connected on one linear cable...

Mainframe vs Personal Computer

...Mainframe VS Personal Computer Mainframe VS Personal Computer What is the difference between a mainframe and a personal computer? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? The difference between a mainframe computer and a personal computer is, a personal computer is designed for one user to be logged in at any given time, while a mainframe computer can have several users simultaneously. Also you can go out to your local electronic store and purchase a powerful PC at a reasonable price. As for mainframe computers you cannot just run out and buy one unless you are very wealthy. The main difference the two, that everyone notices is the size. Mainframe computers only come in one size, extra-large. Personal computers come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Mainframe computers and personal computers both have their advantages and disadvantages. The mainframe computers advantages are, a “mainframe computer can communicate with several users simultaneously through a technique called timesharing”(Beekman & Quinn, 2008, p. 11). Another disadvantage of a mainframe computer is they are, “room-sized machines with price tags to match” (Beekman & Quinn, 2008, p. 11). Maintenance and support is another disadvantage. When a mainframe computer needs an up-grade or repairs done, an outside party under strict contract is needed to be contacted. The advantages of a personal computer are they come in a variety of sizes, a “desktop computer is a PC designed...

Peer to Peer Server

...Server Trevor Crews Strayer University Networks are used to offer advantages that cannot be obtained through the sole use of a standalone computer. There are two common types of network, Peer-to-Peer and Client/Server. Peer-to-Peer is the simpler of the two while client server remains the more complex. Both types offer advantages and disadvantages over the others. “In a peer-to-peer network, every computer can communicate directly with every other computer.” (Dean, 2010) This set-up allows for all computers to have access to each other and the same level of authority. Because of this fact no one computer can do more or less than any other computer on the network. They do, however; each have the ability to limit and share only a portion of their resources and the ability to prevent access to certain data. As they are set up directly to each other every computer has the ability to send and receive information to and from every other computer on the network. Using Peer-to-Peer networks though however does have its advantages and disadvantages. First let’s look at the advantages. The main advantage to a Peer-to-Peer network is how simple it is to configure. This allows them to be deployed in areas where high-end technical expertise may be limited. Due to this fact they can be seen in areas from local home networks to small businesses and at times even larger companies may implement them. Another advantage is that they are less expensive to both set up and maintain. This makes...

...Computer network is one of the most significant facilities in the world today, it has more advantage despite the fact that has some drawbacks. A computer network is a set of computer system and other hardware devices that are connected together electronically, also the information and resources can be shared among them to make easier communication. Networking is one of the most important facilities in the 20's century. This essay will discuss about the advantage and disadvantage of computer networks according to the idea of two authors. Wiley & Sons (2008), states that computer network has many benefits in daily life. Firstly, the main advantage of PC networks is resource and data sharing, PC network users can access other workstation and work together, also they able to see the files that are presented on other workstations remotely. Secondly, networks allow users to share hardware resources, for instance printers, it means each user doesn't have to have own printer, this is very useful for both business and home networks. Finally, internet connection is another shared resource that has become very worthwhile in recent years, and is the main factor for home networks very often. Srivastava (2013), mentions that computer network has some drawbacks .Firstly, virus is the biggest disadvantage of networks, if one client\ computer of the network gets affected by virus, it has the same effect or threat to the other clients in the system as well, because each workstation\client...
