Advertisement and Children In today's world, advertising is becoming more widespread. The major point is to increase market and educate consumers about the new products .There are many ways of advertising which are television, radio, local newspapers, magazines and etc.. Advertisers have realized that children would become the most influenced group by advertising, and also started producing childrenswear and foods besides toys and games. There is an increasing amount of advertising directed at children which encourages them to buy goods such as toys and snacks. Many parents are worried that these advertisements put too much pressure on children. Advertisements are everywhere nowadays and especially advertising targeting children. Some advertisers claim that they provide beneficial information to children. I am going to discuss ads on toys, fast food and educative programs. Another advertisement is on toy industry, because children under a certain age don’t understand what they want. They are attracted by colorful pictures on advertisement and influence by misleading information. So they annoy their parents to buy those things and this can upset the budget of many families. “According to the Consumer Union's report, “elementary-age” school children spend around $ 15 billion, $11 billion of which goes for products from toys and games to food and clothes also elementary-age children influence $160 billion spending controlled by their parents- for cereals, shampoos, and even cars”. (Wikipedia) The advertisements of fast foods are bad for children. They are attracted to fast foods and these are very detrimental for their health. Nowadays a lot of children are suffering with obesity; this comes from eating fast food a lot. The fast food advertisements are so attractive, colorful and interesting that when kids see them and they are hungry they annoy the parents to go

Wendy's Advertising Influence

...Parents will do almost anything to see their children happy but, is there a bigger consiquence? Studies show that the bigger market is not in teens, like most would think. The biggest market is from children. Even the youngest children's minds are more capible then you would belive. They are out to make the parents cave into buying the toy they just saw on tv, after watching their favorite show. They have minds just as good as advertisment producers do but, the effects are directed toward the parents of these younger children. Although the advertising industry may help the economy big time, many people fail to see the bigger picture. Obesity In America

The question still remains though, what is causing this obesity in America? Some argue the annual expenditure on foods, others claim it is the lack of physical exercise, some say the advertising and availability of unhealthy, high fat foods, but mostly, the dramatic increase in portion sizes. Resturants and fast-food joints around the country have increasingly expanded their portions, fooling people into thinking that they are getting reasonable portions, essentially putting their trust in fast-food. Media Gender Roles

...As part of my process of researching, I spent time exploring programing that pertained to specific genders and made note of the corresponding advertisements in each. In stations like E!Entertainment the advertisement consisted primarily of household products such as laundry detergent and cooking knives. For example the detergent commercials such as Tide and Gain always depict a mother demonstrating how the product easily removes stains that her children have produced. Stations that correspond primarily to men such as sports channels advertise insurance companies, cell phone companies and car dealerships. In the car commercials they always depict a man either by himself or with his wife and family. Regardless of the situation the man is always the one who deals directly with the salesman, occasionally the wife will ask questions but in the end is shown as trying to convince her husband to purchase the car. These commercials teach men that they are expected to handle the business aspect of the family such as the mortgage and car insurance. On the other hand it teaches women a wife's duty involves doing everyday household chores like laundry. All of these images are subconsciously establish...

Irish Television

...Evaluate the funding of public sector broadcasting in Ireland from a public finance perspective. A public broadcaster, it is suggested, can increase societal welfare by catering for minority interests (e.g. specialist tastes), by educating and informing (e.g. political information), by enhancing the sense of community (e.g. broadcasting major sporting events), by developing new talent/programming and by providing insurance with respect to the existence of broadcasting itself and with respect to ensuring basic services (e.g. quality) through demonstration. Ireland’s broadcasting sector, both public and commercial, is at a point of departure. With new legislation, which consolidates 50 years of broadcasting legislation, finally in place and with a new regulator, the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, emerging, one can expect significant changes in the coming five years. While the recession, which has hit media’s commercial revenue hard, currently dominates the boardrooms all Irish broadcasting businesses the real seismic change for broadcasting is not the economic downturn but the shift online and the convergence of content in a multi-platform environment. The public sector broadcast consists of Radio telefís na hEireann (RTE) and has provided a radio service since 1926 and a television service since 1961. As RTE is an organization it is subject to the nine member RTE authority appointed by the government, this consists of the RTÉ executive board, which is responsible...

The Portrait Drawn by Womens Advertisements

...directed toward women would try to increase or improve the buyers appearance. By doing this ads have put up a certain bar for women in America to show the ideal look of beauty of a women body. Advertisements for women have made it so that women must look a certain way, and are expected to be a certain size, and if they don't fit that bill, then they are not doing all they can, and while the product can help make them look better they may never reach the "ideal" image made by these ads. In this day and age with technology used as much as it is there is lots of money to be gained from advertsments. Advertisers will pay big money to be represented on website and even to premeire during televised events. There are many ads, ads for men, women, children even ads designed for our pets, but every ad tries to grab your attention in a specific way.
