The first thing an Aggie learns about at Texas A&M University are the traditions involved within this fine institution. One of those traditions is the ‘Aggie Honor Code’ which entitles “An Aggie does not lie, cheat, or steal, nor tolerate those who do.” This straight edged message which represents an Aggies honor and respect is written on a plaque which is attached to a statue right outside of the Corps of Cadet headquarters. This statue was donated by Dr. John and Carol Heit, fellow Aggies from the class of ’43. The Aggie Code of Honor statue seizes the attention of every Aggie that walks by it and with the use of pathos, ethos, and logos this statue is able to connect with the emotions of every single Aggie and convey Texas A&M’s six core values.
The statue with the help of pathos and the purge of emotions suggests that the Aggie Ring is only attainable if you follow the path of the …show more content…
The Aggie Honor Code was not only designed to “function as a symbol to all Aggies, promoting understanding and loyalty to truth and confidence in each other” (Office of the Dean of Student Life), but also to not require anything beyond the modest measures of peculiar dignity and integrity; traits which are represented in the core values in which all Aggies should follow and exemplify. Violation of the Aggie Honor Code is the worst deed imaginable because the Honor Code “is at the core of Texas A&M traditions and ethics” (Texas A&M University at Qatar) and “Aggies take great pride in maintaining this standard, and exhorting their peers to do the same” (Texas A&M University at Qatar). Infringement upon the Aggie Honor Code is a defilement of Texas A&M’s core values which are represented in every single action of an Aggie.
