...| | Agree to Disagree China is frequently regarded as a rising power, which challenges the United State’s dominant position in the International System. Theory, as well as history suggests this to be a dangerous situation and there have been calls from Chinese leaders for a new type of great power relations. Perhaps the major challenge for this new type of power relations, is the relation between the U.S.A.- Japan – and China. China recently expressed rather clear views on that relationship during its military parade in honour of the 70’s anniversary of the Chinese victory over Japan, also expressed through the strong words of President Xi Jinping at the same event. While the speech exhibited a particularly strong rhetoric, its aspects were not new. In fact, similar language can be found in a People’s Daily article as old as the 3rd of March 1971, showing that Japan has played a role for Chinese foreign policy considerations for a while. Especially in terms of the Chinese historiographical memory, the picture of Japan has stayed remarkably stable. In fact, the Chinese core assumption, that it has been the “victim of international aggression” and a “unique and continuing neuralgia toward Tokyo” consistently constitute Chinese intentions on the international field. The continuity with which this thematic reappears in Chinese public discourse does not suggest, that they are bound to change any time soon. At the same time, Japan continues to be one of the most important...

...I agree with Krauthammer's article completely. How can we as a society turn our back on our space program? His article shows his admiration for imagination, which came to life. Almost 40 years ago the space program was put in motion. The thought of mankind walking on the moon created a generation of scientist. Some of his points on where we place priority are evident. How can we spend time and money on a space station that we share with the Russians and not try to still excel above the rest of our counter parts? The mission remains ours to maintain our status in the science history books. We are experiencing problems at an alarming rate such as disease, unemployment, war, etc. Why not invest in the future and accept what it could bring. Imagine how it could jump start the vast number of great minds that exist in our communities here in the United States of America. So if our nation can spend billions on stimulus, why not put monies in our future space programs for our advancement? Furthermore, through the missions to the moon has created a new profound consciousness of earth’s environmental precautions. We have become a society that is deep into extra-terrestrials now more than ever before and why stop now? The moon we left behind, with possibilities to soar higher than anyone could have ever imagined. However Krauthammer thinks if the president can give out stimulus monies to bail out the banks and the auto industry. Why not put money into search to the moon. The author...

(B) To Romeo Juliet was his everything he cared for and loved her with all his heart . and he knew that she felt the same way, he didn’t care of the family feud because all he wanted was Juliet’s heart and be together for the rest of their life (A) I agree that peace is for Benvolio’s goal because he wanted everything to go well with Romeo , as Romeo’s cousin he didn’t want any trouble between them or anyone else .For example Benvolio attempts to stop the fight between the servants. (B) Benvolio wishes to help Romeo's parents by learning from Romeo why he has been acting so strangely and trying to avoid everyone. When he questions Romeo gently and learns that his problem is lovesickness, he counsels Romeo to look at other beauties and forget about anyone who is not interested in him. ...The Patriot Act: Agree or Disagree Amanda Collier ENG/215 August 27, 2012 Bruce Massis The Patriot Act: Agree or Disagree President George W. Bush signed into law on October 26, 2001 The USA PATRIOT Act. The title of the Act is a letter acronym: Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001 (PUBLIC LAW 107–56—OCT. 26, 2001) This Act was written to prevent and punish terrorist acts here in the United States as well as around the world, to help law officers, and to strengthen U.S. measures. Three essays have been studied on this subject, (U.S. Patriot Act – Damian Coles, and The Patriot Act: Wise beyond Its Years – John Ashcroft, and Cassady Pitt - U.S. Patriot Act and Racial profiling: Are there consequences of discrimination?) to come up with this critical argument essay. There are advantages and disadvantages of the Patriot Act. Although The Bill of Rights gives us privacy that could be invaded, is effectual for our country because this helps law enforcement have more resources and more freedom to help. Here are two disadvantages of the Patriot Act to be discussed. First racial profiling and, second America’s right to privacy under the Bill of Rights. When someone is considered a criminal or terrorist just because of how they dress, look, or the religion they practice, this is racial profiling. Racial profiling was a problem in the United States even before 9/11 and the Patriot act...

...childhood obesity” (Science Daily, 2004, Par. 1). I disagree with this article because the study seems to break the very basic rule of statistics: correlation does not imply causation. The following will outline why I feel this article makes an unrealistic claim which has not been properly backed up by enough scientific study and experiment. While I agree that the overuse of electronics can lead to a more sedentary lifestyle for children, I do not think the study provided enough information to claim that electronic game use leads to obesity. Instead, it is taking two very common events and then implying that there is causation between the two. The study itself seemed to be performed and presented in a correct and scientific manner, but its results cannot imply a perfect example of causation. For example, the study makes the following claims: “In a study published in the June issue of the Journal of Obesity Research, researchers from The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the University Hospital Zurich present a strong association between playing electronic video games and childhood obesity” (Par. 1). I cannot agree that this claim is valid or should be taken seriously by the reader simply because the study chose two very common events among children and then assumes that they are associated with one another. This would be similar to claiming that owning a cell phone is associated to having tooth plaque. I am simply taking two very common events which would more than...

...After doing research on Plato, ive come to find many people disagree with him. Plato is a rationalist, He says that sense experience fails to provide us with any guarantee that what we experience is, in fact, true. Plato's simile of the sun, image of the divided line, and allegory of the cave are intended to clarify exactly how the things we experience in the sensible, ordinary world are less real than the ideal models on which they rely for their existence. One of his theories I particualry agree with is knowledge. Plato was convinced that ethical conduct must be founded on knowledge, and that knowledge must be knowledge of eternal values which are not subject to the shifting and changing impressions of senses or of subjective opinion, but are the same for all men and for all peoples of all ages. It is this ignorance of how we establish our reality that Plato attempted to expose with his complex theory of knowledge. Plato developed a system of levels in which he explained the steps through which a human evolves as wisdom replaces ignorance. Plato described how the human mind achieves knowledge, and indicated what knowledge consists of by means of his allegory of the Cave, his metaphor of the Divided Line, and his doctrine of Forms or Ideas. In one of Platos books in the Republic, he illustrates a “Cave”. Plato asks us to imagine an underground cave, which has an opening towards the light. In this cave are living human beings, with their legs and necks chained...

...would get equal pay for doing the same work as a man. This was a huge win for women’s rights. Civil Rights Act of 1964 banned all discrimination of women for employment. Women continued their fight for equal rights by joining military fighting for equal standards. On the forefronts of today’s civil rights is no discrimination based on sexaul preference. There has been many changes, many states allow same sex couples to get married. Many states make it so you are not allowed to discriminate some one based on there sexaul preference. This is a continued fight in equal protection. As you can see equal protection is what gives us our rights no matter your color, race, religion, sex, sexaul preference. As I stated earlier I strongly agree and will continue to support the continue growth of equal protections. Equal protection has greatly benefited us a as nation. You can now see how equal protection has changed over time through civil rights acts. Federalism also plays a large role threw out time. Many times states would be subject to abiding by federal laws. Such as in the case of “separate but equal”. Southern states didn’t want to share facilities with other races pacifically whites sharing with blacks. This changed after the court case Brown v. The Board of Education. As I explained earlier this court case lead to the the end of “separate but equal”. This made it so whites and blacks would share and attend the same schools. The Federal government had to step in to ensure...

...Have you ever noticed a divide in society between the privileged and who's who are not? Such as someone who is rich versus someone who is poor. This is what we call Conflict theory. How conflict theory is applied to our everyday lives can be seen through many different ideas brought about by these conflict theorists. Whether or not I agree or disagree with this theory, will be determined by the factors and situations that conflict theory has to show. Karl Marx, a philosopher, journalist, and revolutionary socialist, is considered the father of conflict theory. He pointed out the continuous competition for power between different classes in society and how the powerful groups exploit those with less. He suggested social order is maintained by domination. So power lies in the hands of those with political, economic or social resources. Conflict theorists stated that "Societies are more appropriately characterized by conflict rather than consensus"(McShane, Williams 127). This often leads to power struggles for those with less. This inequality still exists because those who are in a better position in society actively try to defend this standing. Consider the following, let's say an individual named Zack has a minimum wage income and is paying rent for a house. A conflict theorist might say the relationship between Zack and the owner would be strongly unequal. Zack could pay rent for decades and still gain no rights or economic interest with the property. Zack doesn't advance...

...1. Do you agree with Pollard that a person’s work needs to provide him or her with meaning? Or is that too much to ask of the workplace? Explain your answer. Employees perform at a higher level when they are working toward something that they either believe in or enjoy. When it comes to work, I do agree with Pollard that a person’s work should provide them meaning. It is important to note, however, that I feel meaning and purpose are two separate entities. As Christians, we have been given a purpose that only can be found in the mission of Christ, which he taught as the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:36-40) and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-21). This purpose is innate and should propel our personal perception of our meaning. To be...

... The very last point is related to money. As you all know, people love money because they know that they wouldn’t be able to do anything without money. Nevertheless, people always want more money as they earn more. We can’t deny this fact. Well, some won’t do but over 80% of people will probably want more money. They never get satisfied with money and this is evidently telling us that people always want something more. All things considered, some people would strongly disagree with the point that people are never satisfied with what they have, as mentioned. Yet, for the previous three examples, we can easily say that people always want something more and never feel sufficient with what they have. Hence, I certainly agree that people are never...

...Nowadays, advertisements play a very important role in our society. It is everywhere wherever you go like on the street, Radio, TV…. Sometime it can be helpful, however, most of them are harmful to the people. In this essay, I will analyze some of the problems of advertisement. Problem one: distraction from important information. One reason that TV advertisements are bad for your brain is that their subject matter is almost always trivial and unimportant. On rare occasions, and add might actually contain useful information, but generally it is merely a distraction. Advertising is bad if it makes you focus on something trivial when you could be focusing on something important. The cynical advertising companies that turnout low end advertising are aware of the problem, and do everything in their power to make trivial things seem important to viewers. It should be comical when we see actors in a TV commercial acting like it matters what kind of toothpaste someone uses, but at some level your mind accepts such impossibilities as legitimate when they're presented frequently. At a minimum, such banal advertising consumes our conscious minds focus when it could be focusing on something that matters. Problem two: appeal to your mind's basest motives. Cynical advertising companies use sexually provocative ads to sell everything from lingerie to hamburgers. These ads are bad for your brain because they appeal to your minds least worthy motives. Advertising is bad when it lowers people's...
