...amount of stocks available for purchase on the stock market. The first thing to do is come up with a list of investing objectives. Some primary objectives should include earnings growth, recent earnings surprises, price/earnings ratios, dividends, the market cap or size, the industry and relative strengths or weaknesses. Most of the information needed for proper research can be found on any company’s income statement, balance sheet and cash flows statements. Most of these statements can be found on a company’s annual reports or its financial statements; which can be gathered directly from the company’s website or sites such as Hoovers.com, Forbes.com and many others. Another way to determine which stocks to choose is to look at the AGR scores of a stock. AGR scores are based on statistical analysis of accounting and governance risk factors. Lower scores indicate a corporate integrity risk. One million dollars was made available to invest in four companies. In order to decide on these four companies careful research and planning had to take place. In order to make the process easier companies familiar to day to day operations or in the recent news were chosen and the final four were narrowed down based off of their financial reports. These final four were AT&T, Exxon, Apple and Wal-mart. AT&T and Apple were chosen because of their venture together...

...members not meeting required schools, but addressed in their letter to the board. Active Guard Reserves (AGR) go through different boards. Initial AGR tours are limited to three years. During the last year in the initial tour, the member’s record gets reviewed by a panel and evaluated. The board will recommend to either continued service or return from active duty. This board is the Initial Tour Continuation Board (ITCB). The ITCB does not have a specific quota to retain or separate. The recommendation is simply GO or NO GO. All members could have a recommend for retention or all members could have a recommend for separation. The members are competing with the military standards. Members that gets retained from the ITCB are career status. Typically the ITCB recommends non-retention on about ten percent. If a member gets not-retained from the ITCB they are no longer eligible to apply for another AGR status. Careerist AGR member’s will go through the Active Service Member Boards (ASMB) once they reach 18 years of active service. The board is similar to the ITCB, the board reviews the AGR member’s packet, but instead of GO or NO GO, they are in numerical order on a list generated by the ASMB, similar to a promotion list. The ASMB does have a quota to reach depending on the authorized AGR strength given for the next fiscal year from National Guard Bureau. Careerist AGRs will have to go through an ASMB every other year. Retention Control Points Retention control points are...

...AGR personnel will need to prioritize normal assigned duties and compensate for time away from the duty station. AGR Soldiers may be required to extend normal duty day to accomplish actions to prepare for the units scheduled IDT period. The unit has less AGR Soldiers compared to that of the traditional drilling strength of the unit which will extend the timeline for completion. Prioritization of normally assigned tasks could be detrimental members of the unit when the mission takes priority. c. Course of Action 2. Split Unit Training Assembly (1) Advantages. Soldiers of the unit can perform duties during weekdays to accomplish the mission. The Soldiers will be able to focus entirely on the task without distraction from other service members during the IDT period. (2) Disadvantages. ...* Step one: Identify Potential Red Flags After analyzing Wal-Mart’s annual report for 2010, attention has been brought to several items that require closer examination. A common “red flag” to questionable accounting has been found within Wal-Mart’s statement of cash flows and income statement. There is an increasing gap between the company’s reported income and the cash flow from operating activities. In the year 2008 reported income and cash flow from operating activities differed by $484 million. However the difference increased a considerable $2,249 and $4,183 billion in the years 2009 and 2010 respectively. This increasing gap is a significant warning sign that the company may be changing accrual estimates. Another factor to consider when analyzing Wal-Mart’s financial position is the firm’s uncertain tax position. At the current time, Wal-Mart has $1.0 billion of unrecognized tax benefits related to continuing operations. However note 8 of the consolidated financial statements observe, “During the next 12 months, it is reasonably possible that tax audit resolutions could reduce unrecognized tax benefits by between $350 million and $500 million, either because the tax positions are sustained on audit or because the company agrees to their disallowance.” The company also states that any change should not have a significant change on financial position; however in my opinion an investor should not over look this red flag. * Step two: Identify Principal Accounting...

...recruitment shortfall in the graduate market is increasing: whereas fewer than a third of the blue-chip employers reported a problem in 2005, the figure grew to 43.3 per cent in 2006. The report said employers felt that there was an "inadequate supply of applicants of sufficient calibre". "They [the employers] go on to explain that candidates are normally academically proficient but lacking in soft skills such as communication as well as verbal and numerical reasoning." The survey of 211 employers found recruiters are looking to fill 15.1 per cent more graduate jobs this year. Nonetheless, businesses will be offering below inflation increases in graduate pay in spite of the increase in vacant positions. Carl Gilleard, chief executive of AGR, said: "The main shortfalls appear to be in industries where specific qualifications are essential, such as construction and engineering, and where applicants are unable to demonstrate the right combination of 'softer' skills such as team-working, in addition to their academic achievements." In the construction sector 83.3 per cent expect a recruitment shortfall this year, followed by 80 per cent of engineering and industrial companies. Almost 60 per cent of professional services companies do not expect to fill all vacancies in the next recruitment cycle and exactly half...

I will discuss ranges in salary, how it is competitive, and what skills are needed to be employable. I will discuss various tests and activities taken within my seminars and in my own time and how this shows my strengths and weaknesses. I will also discuss my plan from university education into employment as a graduate. I will also discuss how I am currently in the process of looking for a relevant placement or internship, how it will benefit my employability after finishing university education. I will also discuss various tests and activities taken within my seminars and in my own time and how this shows my strengths and weaknesses Part A Graduate employment The office of national statistic describes a graduate those people who have left education with qualifications above A level standard. This includes those with higher education and those with degrees. (Office of national statistics, 2013) Over the past twenty years in the UK there has been an increasing number of initiatives focusing upon the role that higher education institutions play in relation to graduate employment. (Taylor & Francis, 2011). Employment could be described as a contact between and employer and an employee, graduate employment could be described...

...Abstract Potassium (K) and nitrogen (N) are two major nutrients in crop production. A deficiency of either one or both of these nutrients causes yield loss. In the specific case of tobacco production, both nutrients play a key role in controlling important quality parameters such as leaf color, texture, hygroscopic properties, combustibility, sugar and alkaloid contents. Monitoring N applications thoroughly for form, quantity, and timing of application is a prerequisite in modern agriculture. As in other field crops, balanced N-K fertilization enhances tobacco growth and improves the uptake of both nutrients, which in turn reduces nitrate losses during and after the cropping season. The importance of K on mineral nutrition in tobacco production in terms of yield and quality is presented. The role of K in determining the chemical composition of tobacco leaf is now well established. K content of dry matter must reach 2 to 2.5 percent and chloride (Cl) content must remain below 1 to 1.5 percent in order to ensure good maturation, perfect combustibility and a good taste. The paper reports several pot and field experiments carried out in France, China and Cuba, in which various factors affecting yield and quality of the tobacco crop were studied including dose, source, and timing of potash applications. The effect of the combination of various potash forms (potassium sulphate, potassium chloride, potassium nitrate, potassium bicarbonate) with two N sources (nitrate...
